You are missing out big time if you don't take the slight detour to Jugiong from the main highway. Food, coffee and jams etc are excellent. Today we had the minestrone, Aussie Turkish and of course coffee. Now, the browsing of jams, sauces, biscuits etc Once the relatives know you are going past Jugiong they expect delicacies brought back so you have to buy double I have subscribed to emails from here over the last few years and they are a good read with recipes. read more

After reading a few great reviews of this place, I decided to stop in for a lunch pit-stop after enduring 5hours driving on the Hume Highway boring death roadtrip that is Melbourne to Sydney, and what an absolute pleasure it was! Seeing countless small towns with service station diners and fast food restaurants, Long Track Pantry Cafe is an absolute haven for anyone looking to actually have a nice relaxing time on their roadtrip. The cafe is split into 2 rooms, with a selection of tables & chairs and a long bench seat, as well as tables & chairs outside on the leafy covered front patio. It's an exceptionally cute store, with a very rustic feel to it. Apple & pear shaped decorations, a big branch hanging from the roof, wooden noughts & crosses on the table etc. The menu itself is quite small, with about 7 main lunch dishes (served until 3pm), but you can also get an assortment of toasted focaccias and pastry items up until they close (4pm). Most of the dishes feature one of the homemade jams or chutneys that they also sell in store which are absolutely delicious. The food itself was great, trying to get home before dark we quickly wolfed down one of the toasties, but the bread was lovely and crispy and the salad dressing was great. The whole meal was very filling and very well priced for what you got as well as the peace & quiet of the place (note that we had lunch at 3.30pm - I think it gets very busy during peak hour). The shop also sells a number of country style knick knacks including tea-towels, milk jugs, cushions, books and plenty of other things - absolutely perfect if you need to pick up a last minute gift for mum / grandma. The perfect location & timing for a pitstop if you are driving Sydney to Melbourne (3.5hrs from Syd) or coming back the other way (5hrs from Melb). I definitely suggest you push through if you're getting hungry along Hume Hwy until you reach this place. I certainly had to eat my words after complaining non stop to my road-trip buddy about wanting to stop off and eat at Hungry Jacks in Gundagai :/ read more

The drive from Sydney to Melbourne down the Hume Highway can be measured in many different ways, KMs, Town, Towns that have been by-past by the highway. All of these are good measures but none of them tell the true story of a boring 8 hour drive. The best measure is Coffee Stops. We all need a break (you should stop every two hours) and so we all plan exactly which small town we will divert into and exactly which coffee shop will get our dollars. I am going to let you in on a little secret, it is a town called Jugiong. Home of the Long Track Pantry and a great little park just across the road. It is 4 km off the highway and you can stop, streach your legs. Let the dog and the little ones run around the park for a while. Then you can cross the old highway and head on in. The food is good, it has that country feel! none of the city hint of this, waft of that stuff. Real food with real fresh produce. The coffee is truly the best coffee on the Hume! If there was a downside, it is that the word is getting out and the last time I was there, it was full! not full to overflowing but they were doing a roaring trade! So, next time you are about three hours south of Sydney, look for the signs to Jugiong and the Long Track Pantry! read more

After spotting a friend's Yelp check-in a day before my own Hume Highway adventure, I was pretty happy to see there was finally a place to try out on the long boring stretch that wasn't a fast food chain. This is a cafe meets food store, with the walls lined with an amazing selection of jams and marmalades. If you're there in time, you can also pick up some fresh Brasserie Bread to go with it. Awesome. We got there at 3pm, so no bread but we were happy to see that they were still serving lunch until 3.30pm. We ordered a smoked lamb on turkish. Yummy meat and relish, although not didn't quite give the fresh feel I was hoping for by dripping with cheese. Tasty, but didn't relieve any guilt from not eating at the chains! They do have a selection of salads and pastries there for the health conscious - and they are situated next door to a fruit seller to help you stock up on goodies. I was hoping for some decent coffee, but alas, while it might be one of the better for the area, it wasn't great. They have their own beans and they don't smell or taste particularly good. Maybe better for latte drinkers but certainly wouldn't recommend it black. Still, coffee aside, from now on we will drive the extra distance past Gundagai to stop in at Long Track. read more

First decent coffee in a week Easter trip to the farm and the trip back have been greatly improved by a visit to this place. Opened a few years ago it is the easiest and quickest exit off the Hume Hwy and there is no mega service station or Hungry Erics or McDougall's to be seen. Jugiong has always been a pretty little town, right by the river. Famous for asparagus, Jugiong now has an honest cafe with an on line 'jars of stuff' line as well. Check out the wine at the place next door- all local and some brilliant wines all in the one spot. Tumbarumba Chardonnay has finally been discovered and some of the really good ones can be found here, yeah I know, nothing to do with Long Track but what the hell, this is a great little unspoiled strip and I love it. The cafe is great but can get busy - especially when the school holidays and easter combine with Anzac Day - yikes. The coffee is good and the meals are absolutely classic farm produce stuff. I think that Long Track Pantry should be a place of worship for anyone who has worked in a cafe. They are perfection. People are great, food is amazing, service is quick and the atmosphere is buzzing. This place is massive in terms of the amount of people it can sit. After walking in to a PACKED establishment I was expecting to wait (a long time), but I was so wrong. Long Track Pantry runs with military precision. It's a well oiled machine. A cafe-come-homewares-come-grocer-come-bottle-shop that knows how to keep it's customer happy. The ploughman's lunch is divine and generous, the home made pies are chunky and tasty. For a quick bite they also do the most amazing toasted sandwiches - the smoked lamb one is to die for. If you're doing the hume highway drive from Sydney to Melbourne (or vice versa) you MUST stop in. AND they're traveller friendly, serving lunch until 3pm! read more

Wow, did not expect to eat like this on our long 9 hour drive from Sydney to Melbourne. But we did! The ploughman's lunch was fantastic, as were the home made pies. The food is also very quick. They also have a bunch of wines from the local area, though we didn't try any... long drive + wining = sleepy time! Definitely the best place we stopped between Sydney and Melbourne. Like the music you used to listen to on family road trips, this place evokes those same feelings of familiarity and comfort. For a cafe in the middle of (what seems like) nowhere, the menu is bloody brilliant. I have the lentil salad while plus one hoes into the lunch platter and a light beer. On a nice day, there's few things better than sitting on the verandah listening to the locals chat about their farms - this really is a town where very one seems to know everyone. After lunch, I always get lost looking at the homewares and little jars of house-made goodies and end up drinking cold coffee as a consequence. read more

Long track pantry cafe! More like short track pantry extravaganza!!! . Just a short track walk from my horrible experience at beaurepairs! I was horrendously disappointed with my experience at the rubber merchant until the long track upped my spirits with some fine cuisine!!! Oh they were great, they listened as I expelled my frustration an angst with the tread peddlers! Good on you long track, you are wizards of bettering a shocking tyre experience.
