Apparently - When You write a Truthful review - a computer comes along and says - your review isn't…read morereal - and wipes it away - hopefully - this time - you'll be able to see my original post - of my actual experience with - Dr. Shafipour and his staff. I am a real person. :) James R. Santa Monica, CA - December 7, 2022 ... So... I was sent one of those boring questionnaires from Providence Health & Services (after a normal doctors' appointment) that was the usual sterile Q&A - 0-10 sort of things - then at the end it asked - anything else? - so I wrote the following and sharing it here for others looking for a good place for medical doctor care to... so... here you go - This is what I wrote... "Dr. Pouya Shafipour and his staff are bright, smart, polite, and always great. Mostly they are human, present when you talk to them, they aren't like this survey. They have a heart - that this survey does not. Over the years that I have seen them - they light up and we share a brief moment a connection - sure we get down to the business of medical care and things may move fast - but they keep their eyes on the details - while still being decent and maintaining humanity and compassion. There's a mic drop for ya"

Dr. Shafipour is absolutely amazing. He is extremely easy to connect with when you are having a problem and is the kind of doctor you can only dream of having. I have not felt well for many years and it has never been diagnosed so I am constantly bugging him for suggestions as to whom to see next. He is extremely patient with me and does his utmost to find answers. He once said he likes to treat his patients as he would like to be treated. Well he would certainly be treated well. There aren't enough stars for this doctor.

Wanted to pull my review of Dr. Sorotzkin from 2009 into this listing since she's moved practices…read more While they are below (I think), the most pertinent part is: _____ "Dr. Sorotzkin is my primary physician and has been for eight years. She's been nothing but caring and practical, in addition to being a great diagnostician. She's gone the extra mile a number of times, and once in particular when I went in with severe abdominal pain and she "nailed" the diagnosis, called ahead to the ER with instructions, checked in that night and was persistent in getting me the surgery I needed when the on call surgeon was attempting to delay the surgery to the next morning (presumably because she wasn't wanting to stay later than expected). Dr. Sorotzkin's persistence paid off, and I got my surgery within the hour (around midnight). I'd recommend her to anyone. I rarely write reviews but when reading these (just found them after searching to verify the address) I was prompted to register and post because they are so at odds with my experience (see her at least three times a year for eight years). I think it's great how for common illnesses, they will work you in that day to see a physician's assistant who can do a basic exam and write prescriptions - or bring in a doctor if it's more serious. I've recommended her to others, all of whom had similarly positive results. I hate to see anyone like her get a bad rep - I've had many doctors in my life, in many parts of the country, and I'd rate her among the top."

My last visit…read morethere, I had experienced the same thing, but now they're paying attention to the patients instead of laughing and chatting high-pitched at that front desk. Today I was treated very well and professionally by the woman at the right side of the desk. They previously were my only complaint about the office, and now I can focus on how fabulous Dr. Ruth Sorotzkin is! She reads the notes carefully from all the previous visits I've had, offers suggestions for preventative care, listens well to my input and quickly follows up with an Rx or an Imaging Request. She's fun, she's funny, and she's clever on top of being a thorough primary care doctor. I'm proud to have her as my PCP.

Five stars isn't enough for Dr. Freese and her team…read more I first met Dr. Freese when I was uninsured and looking for answers. At the time, I was experiencing symptoms that many others had attributed to anxiety, migraines, stress, or random bad luck. Dr. Freese and the other volunteer physicians listened, took my concerns seriously, and looked at the bigger picture instead of dismissing what I was experiencing. Eventually, I was diagnosed with a stroke in my right cerebellum, along with atypical seizures and ongoing neurological issues. Living with the aftermath has been challenging, but Dr. Freese has always approached my care with compassion, patience, and a genuine curiosity to find the underlying cause rather than simply treating symptoms. More recently, she has continued to help me navigate the lasting effects of my stroke, including muscle fasciculations, seizures, and chronic back pain. Even when things become stressful or confusing, she continues to advocate for me and help find solutions. What stands out most isn't just her medical knowledge. It's that she listens. She treats you like a person instead of a problem to solve, and for someone living with chronic medical conditions, that means more than I can adequately put into words. I know that whether I send a message, make an appointment, or need help during a difficult situation, Dr. Freese and her team will treat me with kindness, professionalism, and compassion. I'm incredibly grateful to have her as my physician.

I submitted a request through UCLA MyChart more than 48 hours ago asking Dr. Sheeva Zolghadr, DO to…read morecorrect/update my referral, and I still have not received a response. I had already missed a first appointment on September 12 because the referral was not correct. Today, I called the office again and asked them to send the corrected referral directly to the facility where I was supposed to have the exam. Despite this, it was not sent in time, and I missed a second appointment as well. At that point, I went to the office in person to try to resolve the issue. However, I was simply given the same previous order again, because the doctor still had not responded to the correction request after more than 48 hours. I also spoke with the office manager, but unfortunately nothing concrete was done to fix the problem or to make sure the correct referral was prepared and sent. For now, the only option I have been left with is to proceed with the exam using the old order, even though it is not the correct one and does not truly resolve the issue. I find this situation extremely frustrating. The lack of response, lack of follow-up, and the failure of the office management to provide a solution have already caused me to miss two medical appointments. This kind of handling does not reflect the level of professionalism, organization, and patient care I would expect from UCLA Health. I sincerely hope that someone within UCLA takes this situation seriously, reviews what happened, and takes appropriate action so that similar problems do not continue to cause delays and difficulties for patients.

Urgent Care Review Only…read more How I spent today. Sunday. Allegedly "Funday". Fun? Not so much, seriously, not so much. Three days ago my hubby complained of fatigue, left sore throat pain, left ear pain. Against my admonishment, he continued to go about his business pure pluck until it wasn't. Immediately rapid Covid tested both of us. Negative two days in a row. Hey, he breathes where I breathe. Sunday, allegedly "Funday" would it be mimosas or urgent care? The latter. He kept telling me he went to UCLA urgent care. I Yelped it. Uh huh, nothing there. Finally, he found a business card in his Rolodex for here. (Yeah, who has one of those? He does.) Since we're both in the St. Johns' Providence system, I recommended we go to urgent care here today (no forms to fill out, etc.) since at the beginning of the pandemic lock down with zero home testing available, he was sick. He went here. Was it a cold or was it Covid then? Cold. Praise be! "Call them from that Rolodex card!", I yelled to determine if care is available on Sunday. It is. M-F: 8:30AM - 7:30PM Saturday & Sunday: 10:00AM - 2:30PM (Doors promptly lock at 2:20PM). Arrived at 11:30AM. Processed and seen by noon even with a few folks ahead. Vitals (A-OK), Covid, Strep test taken, negative. GREAT doctor! Professionalism with a capital "P". Sent home with OTC med Rx and to return or contact primary physician, or EMS if symptoms worsen. P.S. Photos and videos are prohibited! Couldn't even snap a pic of the flyer saying so without getting in trouble...

I've been coming to this office for years, and while it was FAR from perfect, the quality of care…read moreand service has noticeably declined over the past few years. They increasingly push you to make appointments for even minor requests, yet there seems to be very little urgency or consideration for the patient's time. Most recently, I waited more than 30 minutes for a scheduled Zoom appointment. When the doctor finally joined, there was no apology, just a series of excuses about how busy they are, including what came across as throwing colleagues under the bus? The staff have become increasingly rude and unhelpful, while the doctors often seem more focused on moving patients through the system and keeping everything in-house than actually listening to or addressing the patient's needs. You can easily find yourself being passed from one doctor to another, with no one taking real ownership of your care. What is most disappointing is the complete lack of empathy and personal attention. After being a patient here for years, I've finally reached the point where I'm done. I'm looking elsewhere for a practice that values its patients, respects their time, and actually provides a reasonable level of care and service. It's genuinely disappointing to see how much this practice has deteriorated.
