The restaurant was old looking but it was clean so "risk it for the brisket" haha. Food: We made it before closing time. There were no customers any more and only brisket and catfish was leftover. The brisket was good. Same goes for coleslaw and potato salad. Nice flavours and homely style cooking. The BBQ sauce wasn't your typical sweet and thick sauce, instead the sauce was more runny and had interesting vinagre taste. We enjoyed it. Pricing: $$ - not pricey at all.

My only complaint is that even though the price per item goes up and up the quantity goes down and down. Alas I have decided to move on. I can receive a much larger quantity for the same or lesser price. Often I have contested the amount of brisket on a sandwich because half of it was pure fat !!! The bun has been reduced more and more and now it is so small I think I am receiving finger food. This is really reflected by the small amount of people eating here.

We shared the meal that includes an appetizer and dessert, which was more than enough food for us. For the appetizer, we chose the fried green tomatoes. They were perfect. Our entrée was chicken-fried chicken with mashed potatoes and fried okra, and every bite was divine. My husband also ordered a side of collard greens, and they were excellent. Then came dessert. Buttermilk chess pie is my husband's favorite, but he rarely orders it because he's afraid it won't measure up. After one bite, he declared it "righteous," which means it passed his very high standards. I thought it was fantastic too. The service was great, and the restaurant has a quaint, family-owned feel. Very reasonable pricing and extremely fast service…read more The "queso" cheese sauce is basic Costco nacho cheese sauce, I wouldn't get it again, very mediocre. Something house-made and with a custom flavor was expected. The "crispy chicken" is another store bought product that's chopped up and put on top. The mango-habanero sauce had a little kick, but was way too sweet for my preference. Overall, not a culinary hotbed, but a unique dining experience none-the-less.

I'm salivating just thinking about that steak butter and the perfect char. The calamari was light and crispy with a sweet pepper sauce drizzled on top. That bacon Gouda Mac..... so creamy and wonderful flavor. Not pictured: the chocolate cake that I took home and enjoyed the next day. OMG so rich!!
