I can't say enough about this experience! I do have to say I thought it would be hokey, a typical dude ranch but we were pleasantly surprised. The little touches and length of customer service was beyond my expectations. We never had a bad experience or a disappointment. We stayed in Ouzel, it was perfect for the two of us. Amazing views all around us. The morning coffee service was a perfect touch, fresh coffee delivered every morning. Ian was our wrangler for our lunch horseback ride, all the perfect touches and he was an amazing guide to accompany. We even enjoyed the ax throwing and archery. The Auric Restaurant is a must! It's an experience in itself, service and the food was too shelf. The Horn & Cantle never disappointed either, food was very good! The Ranch set up our whitewater trip and our fly fishing trip....both were absolutely amazing. We highly recommend Line Mountain Ranch and we look forward to returning.

Horsies!

We opted for the sleigh ride and dinner experience and count it as one of our highlights of the trip! It's a bit pricey, but it does include a bottle of wine, dinner, welcome cocoa, and lots of fluffy animal pets. After checking in, we enjoyed the mulled wine and hot chocolate and explored out back. The horses were ready to go and accepting of pets. The adorable little goats trotting about the back seemed more interested in snacks than pets..but tolerated the petting. We dressed warm and had a blanket to keep us toasty as we traveled to the cabin. The horses all looked well cared for and were given lots of breaks to rest during the ride. The dinner was excellent, and the chef accommodated my gluten-free allergy easily. The live music was the perfect touch! We all left absolutely stuffed, farshnickered, and in good spirits. A very fun wintery experience

Booked horseback riding for 7 members of our family. Our guides were amazing and patient and took us on an absolutely picturesque ride. We spotted deer in the field on our ride, too. The horses are beautiful, and the guides were really super patient and helpful with our group of riders from 10 years old to 50+ yrs old. The ranch is really amazing to check out, and we all walked out with a few gifts to bring home. Located in the Big Sky area, well worth it to check out for a beautiful ride in Montana with these very professional ranchers and riders.

The food amazing. They where understaffed and overworked but still accommodated or party of three walk-in. The food was simply amazing. The atmosphere was amazing, and magical. This won't be our last visit but rather the first of many.

Absolutely love staying at Lone Mountain Ranch,I have been lucky enough to visit and stay in both summer and winter. It truly is magical in both seasons- every cabin is different and unique. The record players in the rooms is a great touch. The ranch's restaurant-Horn and Cantle is incredible; exceptional food and service. Love all the activities that they offer from horse riding, fly fishing, nordic skiing and weekly rodeo etc.

Entrance to remote dinner cabin

We came for the Sleigh Ride dinner. It was pure magic! The sleigh, horses, ride up to the cabin, candlelight dinner outstanding, full moon on return was gorgeous. Our storyteller Bruce was amazing. Thank you for this life highlight and a cocktail before at Horn restaurant was fun- go early to see ranch.

What are their room rates like. Does the fee include liquor?

Depends on the time of year and what package you choose (we went during winter and did the sleigh ride/snowshoe/3 meals a day package and it's pricy around 500-600 per night but sooo worth it if ur looking for a splurge)! You can also not get a… Read more

An unforgettable morning with Calvin at Wild Trout Outfitters!…read more What an amazing 4 hours of fly fishing in Big Sky with this cool and incredibly talented guide. Calvin made the whole experience fun, relaxing, and educational -- we caught multiple fish, learned a ton, and had great conversation along the way. His easygoing personality and deep knowledge of the water made it such a perfect day. I can't recommend Wild Trout Outfitters enough, especially Calvin. We can't wait to come back -- hopefully next time we'll be even better anglers! Thank you again for an awesome experience!

Ended up pairing 1 kid + 1 adult + 1 guide. The guides were patient and fun with them all. They adjusted the teaching based on skill level and age. Our expectations were low (because fishing is fickle), but everyone had success catching multiple fish - even the littles! Taryn and Jake were my immediate family's guides and they were amazingly knowledgeable about the area / how to fish it, silly with the kids, and easy to talk to. We really appreciated the experience - it was one of our favorite activities during our Big Sky visit. Thanks again! FYI if you have kids under 10 you'll want to bring your own waders for them - easy to buy on Amazon!

East Slope Outdoors - Unsightly pull on front of pullover

East Slope Outdoors

I was really excited to purchase a merino wool pullover from East Slope Outfitters in Big Sky Town…read moreCenter. It was performing well, so I went back the next day and purchased a second one. Unfortunately, the first pullover started developing pulls almost immediately. One particularly long pull in the front snagged on something as minor as my cuticle--something that shouldn't even be possible. I also noticed additional pulls on the back, even though I had been careful with it. When I went into the store to discuss the issue, an employee was empathetic and directed me to the manager. However, the manager--a brunette helping a customer with ski goggles--was completely dismissive. When I explained the situation, she responded with, "Oh, it must have pulled on something." I acknowledged that it caught on my nail, but I was shocked that such an expensive pullover would be so fragile. Rather than offering any assistance or even engaging in a conversation about product quality, she quickly shut it down, saying they couldn't do anything since I had already had it for a few days. For a store selling high-end outdoor gear, I expected better durability and customer support. Spending around $130, I at least hoped for a discussion about quality assurance or a possible exchange. Instead, I was met with indifference. It felt like they cater more to tourists passing through than to customers who actually care about their purchases. If you're looking for durable gear from a store that stands behind its products, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

When I picked up the board, they had not only performed the previously discussed repairs, but they also did a bunch of p-tex work on the base and a wax, and still charged me the previously agreed upon price. I'll definitely be back here next time I need tuning work done.

What a fantastic day we had touring the lower loop of Yellowstone National Park with Yellowstone…read moreTouring Company / Wild Trout Outfitters. Arranging the tour on the phone was easy and quick. We had the choice of having pickup at our condo in Big Sky or meeting at the storefront on Highway 191. We chose to meet at the store to maximize our 10 tour time which starts end ends when the driver leaves the parking lot. Check in was simple. Each participant had to sign a waiver and then we were off. The Sprinter van was clean and very spacious with seating for 10 although we had a private tour for 4. Pricing for private tours are flat rate and we chose the 1-5 participants. Our tour guide, Mat, was amazing. He kept us entertained on the way to the park with stories and factoids. In addition to showing us the "usual suspects," took us to places that are not listed in the guidebooks. He varied the route a bit at times to accommodate the geyser schedules and spend as little time as possible waiting for eruptions. All the time, he was filling our heads with area info. He was terrific at spotting wildlife for us as well. When we found ourselves with a little extra time at the end our our tour. He stopped at two additional sites that people normally drive right by. We were thrilled with his service. While this tour does not supply food, they have a cooler on board with plenty of ice, soft drinks, bottled water and space for the food that we brought. We packed a lunch and Mat found us a table at the edge of Yellowstone Lake were we stopped and ate on a checkerboard tablecloth - courtesy of Mat. If we were to come back, we would absolutely arrange for the Upper Loop tour with this company and possibly even a fly-fishing trip. Thanks to Mat and YTC for a great day.

Last week my family and I vacationed in Big Sky for our first trip to Montana and Yellowstone…read moreNational Park. Since our time was limited and the park so large we decided to hire a tour guide for one day. Upon researching the options I discovered there are a lot of ways to tour Yellowstone, however having the disability of chemical sensitivity I found it challenging to choose one. Ultimately after many phone conversations I talked with J.D. Bingham at Yellowstone Touring Company/Wild Trout Outfitters. Based on our telephone conversation I was confident that J.D. understood my special needs and would be able to accommodate our party of nine persons, which included children and elderly. On the day of the tour our guide Paul picked us up at or rental house in Big Sky right on schedule. That was no small feat in itself as the house was VERY out of the way on the side of a mountain at 8200 feet. The vehicle was clean, spacious and comfortable for all of us. More importantly, per my request for my chemical sensitivity, both Paul and the vehicle were completely fragrance free. Paul asked us questions about what we were looking to get out of the tour, and then designed our day around our specific requests. It could not have been any better. He was knowledgeable not only about Yellowstone but about where we were staying in Big Sky. He was patient with both the children and the elderly. He is an excellent driver and we all felt quite safe in his hands the whole time. The sights that he chose for us were perfect. He knew everything from which rest rooms were most likely to be cleanest, (very important for the ladies), to where to find the bison. All in all, I cannot say enough about our tour with Paul from Yellowstone Touring Company. I would do it again in a heartbeat, and recommend him to anyone. Also after our interactions with J.D., I would also imagine his fishing guides from Wild Trout Outfitters to be as special and would have tried that also if we'd had more time.

Our experience with UCO was amazing!…read more We (my wife and I and another couple) did the half-day horseback ride and lunch one day. Timber and Hannah were outstanding wranglers. They provided excellent instruction and took us through varied terrain. Our horses were the best! After riding the open valley we ascended up a creek trail and had a nice lunch up high. A few days later we did a full-day of guided fishing on the Ruby. So glad we did! We learned so much from Isaac and Ben. Landed at least 10 apiece. Massive browns, a few rainbows and whitefish and man did they fight! Lost a few big ones too! These guys were such experts. They were great coaches and fine gentlemen.
