I'm a big fan politically of Sir Winston Churchill, even if I don't like his personal character as much. So when I found out that he was an owner, thru inheritance off this pub and may even have poured pints here(!), I knew I had to check it out. Inside, it's a gorgeously preserved Georgian architecture and tons of antique seating ranging from a variety of eras, but it made for a harmonic whole. The bartender was super friendly and nice, and even tho I didn't have a pint, they had superior hot chocolate and decent cappuccino. Def recommend their scones and I also walked away with some delicious Wheaten Bread loaf. Note: #227 of Yelp 100 challenge for 2016

Last night a group of us had the pleasure of having fun, learning some history, dining and staying over (except me!!) at The Londonderry Arms. Our host Denise was excellent and really made us feel welcome. The staff were amazing and made us all feel at home. The style of hotel is definitely "Ye Olde" style with the wooden beams, intricate wooden panelling and grandiose fire places and stair well, as well as the stuffed deers head. Before our sumptuous 5 course meal, we were treated to local (Ballycastle) craft beer tasting courtesy of Isabelle from Glens of Antrim Craft Ales and Beer. On offer was Fairhead Gold, Rathlin Red and Lizzies Gold-my favourite was Rathlin Red!! We then proceeded to The Tapestry Room to be spoilt by Manus the chef. For starters I had fish-salmon, mousse and eel, followed by chicken on champ with roasted root vegetables and pepper sauce, followed by a delightful caramel tart, coffee and a cheese board. We then retired to the Coach House for some good old County Antrim "craic". In short the food was out of this world, the service was spectacular and the evening was a roaring success!! The hotel has a wonderful history- Hector gave us a fine account over dinner!! Sir Winston Churchill was once the proud owner of the Arms and we did have drinks in the Churchill Lounge whilst he looked over us-I will stay in the Churchill suite next visit!!!

We came to the Causeway Hotel because we had just finished the Giants Causeway which is a must see…read moreif you're on the north coast of Ireland. Although I did find the Carrick -a-rede rope bridge and Dunluce Castle slightly more interesting The causeway is a nice stop for a midday meal particularly because they allow you to use your parking pass for a rebate on the restaurant bill. Just remember to bring your stub in. Ireland is not really known I think for its iced coffee drinks so probably steer clear of ordering an Iced latte. Not horrible, but not great. The food however, was pretty tasty. We got the Carmelized onion and goat cheese tart And the Pan seared Rockville farm chicken. Both were done well, and the price is paid. If you can eat in the back of the restaurant, it probably has slightly more character as the front has windows only looking out to the parking lot. Parking is free for guest of the hotel. Otherwise you pay 10 pounds.

It's "only" a 3-star, but it's really a lovely hotel. It's as close to Giant's Causeway as you can…read moreget, and your room comes with parking. We got a triple room with terrace, and the terrace overlooks grazing pastures and a breathtaking coastal cliff trail. A hot, cooked breakfast is included which is nice as the hotel restaurant is one of only two places to eat up here. You also get an audio guide free at the visitor's center if you show your room card. A great place to stay if you want to see Giant's Causeway and also a nice "home base" if you want to explore Northern Ireland.
