Even when it's crazy busy ive never had to wait long to put in an order or pay. The coffee is great and cheap and so are the pastries (the empanadilla de manzana is a personal favorite). If you're here for breakfast, I highly recommend the banana-espresso bread. I'm very much blessed to have this place to close to my apartment!!! It's amazing.

Great spot, annoying laptop policy. This spot has possibly…read morethe best carrot cake in Madrid and its cozy and rarely crowded. However they've recently banned laptops from everywhere except a very uncomfortable bar around the center column. That bar is also very high so if you're short like me it's impossible to work at. Especially on weekdays when they never seem to be lacking tables.

We were the only people there eating although a few stopped in for a drink during the couple of hours we were there. We loved the big glass of olives that they brought us to start. We ordered a hamburger with potato chips (crisps) for the girls to share and it was more than enough for their tiny stomachs. My spouse and I had the menu del dia. He started with pasta carbonara, which child #1 decided was better than her food and ate most of it. I had a salad of tomatoes and cheese with balsamic vinegar. Nothing fancy but nice and fresh. Spouse enjoyed the steak (good but nothing special) while I had smoked salmon open faced sandwiches. It was so rich I couldn't even make it half-way through. The brought us a huge carafe of wine to share (at least two glasses each in there -- we didn't finish it). For dessert, I opted for coffee while he had a cream cake that was too sweet for me but the others helped him finish it. Charlotte is already asking when we can go back for croissants.
