We added a side of veg and those two were just perfect! A great drinks menu and plenty of room for a crowd. Service was sparse as usual in a pub but zero complaints. You order at the bar and then grab your own utensils and sauces and wait . Nearly as soon as we finished the dishes were removed so we could enjoy what was left of our cocktails at a clean table. Padstow is a very touristy place, and the harbour promenade is rather narrow - so the area around the pub, and the pub itself, can get verrrrryyyy busy on weekends and on weekday evenings. People with claustrophobia issues might feel a tad uncomfortable during these peak hours. The Shipwrights is very "old-style", which appeals to middle-aged punters such as myself. The smallish outside seating areas to the front offer a nice view of the harbour, but again can feel cramped due to the sheer popularity of the place. St. Austell ales are kept fresh on tap, the prices are slightly elevated as you'd expect . Solid pub food is available, too. Certainly one of the better pub options in Padstow.

There's not even much of the rock quarry visible that gave the place its name. So IF you're heading to Rock, why not stop at this rather nice restaurant which offers brilliant views of the bay. The menu is split into three time schedules, breakfast, lunch (12 to 6 p.m.) and dinner (after 6). The range is a bit higher key than the usual pub grub, and the chicken breast (topped with bacon and cheese) I opted for was rather nice indeed. The beer range is limited, especially on the hand-pumps - similar to the Rock Road Bar & Grill which inhabits the same building - and they may indeed be one item. Korev and some international lagers are available though. The view is indeed splendid and the staff were really nice when I visited. The outside seating can be covered, but it was not on this rather warm and sunny June day. Since there are very few alternatives here, I'd give The Rock Inn thumbs up. There is truly no real reason to go to Rock in the first place, but this one might be it.

Since traveling with a small child, we were not shuttered to the back room, like a couple of other pubs we visited. Rather, we got to sit in the the front window. The Padstow sardines were spot on delicious as an appetizer. The meal portions were hearty and well priced.
