As a child, I always dreamed what is at the rainbow, I wanted to travel and see what joyful things…read morethey actually were, whether it be at the other side of the world, I wanted to go there, Little did I know that I can actually find this joy, at Piccadily Market. Well to contradict myself, I came to this business when they had a pop up stall at The Lowry Food fair, they normally are based Thursday to Saturday on Piccadily Market, it is still the same people who go around to other venues, they even do delivery. They sell small cupcakes for £1 and have a great range for gluten free, vegan, they do lots of cakes for lots of different dietary requirements. The girl on the stall told me she runs the business and her friend makes the gluten free seperaty at her home, and bags them all up to avoid cc what is fantastic to show, she had some knowledge. The cakes are very good value, I would even expect to pay that price or even more for that size cake with that quality, for gluten free a big piece of cake, £2 is great especially when they sell small gluten cupcakes for £1. Most cakes including GF can be frozen too. The cakes tasted really fresh and they did have nice icing on it too, they were quite moist although a little cream would of sweetened the deal, you could even taste fresh pieces of orange in the orange flavored cake, which was fantastic and this company really does show how to cook gluten free cakes and charge a price, which is certainly fair when she could charge more. Everyone who I have been served by on the stall seem nice and the majority of their cakes are however I found the banana one to be awful, and the Chocolate to not stand out very well, although still edible it wasn't great although better than the banana. - More days open - Possibly in more locations however not a big must for the extra star - Seating would be good - I also want to try more of the cakes before upgrading to 5. - Maybe have a store at least once a week/fortnight what is easier to get in, for example with a closer car park which does not mean you have to go into a city center to get your beloved treat. - Some of the cakes are not so nice. UPDATE: Sadly I feel this business deserves a downgrade to a single one star due to the fact the cakes are beginning to taste hard and stail and they lack the quality they once had, which is a real shame, perhaps this is due to a change in how the cakes are made or stored, so for example if they are going to be left out all day on a market, they need to work hard to make sure taste doesn't suffer because of it, and sadly they don't seem to do that hence the downgrade is really needed for Over the Rainbow.

Hey Little Cupcake! If I went into any other store and said that to a cupcake, I would probably be…read morelooked at confusingly and probably raise a smirk with a member of staff, but here, they actually have named their store that. Hey Little Cupcake are a small business in Manchester, with a store in Spinningfields, and have recently opened this pop-up store in Selfridges at the Trafford Centre, having been to their store and been impressed with their gluten free cakes, I decided to call back and try out this new store. As this is only a popup store theys is limitations, which is a shame and makes this particular "store" look cheap, and more like a corporate chain. As far as I'm aware, they don't serve drinks and just a small number of cupcakes in a small area, with no seating, meaning with queues, you feel you can't get such a good service, with it being more of a quick service counter. I would have prefered Hey Little Cupcake to have an approach similar to PRET in Selfridges, with seating and serving drinks, so it is a shame it is only a pop-up stall. Now back to the food - They did have a nice selection of cupcakes, with 2 gluten free ones - Manchester Mint and Red Velvet, they were at a good price at about £2.85 each, only a small amount more expensive than the "gluten" containing ones. The cupcakes were small, but I liked how they put a whole After Eight Chocolate on the "Manchester Mint" one so I opted for that The cake was reasonable quality, although the mint flavour was a little too overpowering, but still I would say it did warrant the price for a gluten free cupcake anyway - even though it could have been considerably better. Overall, this store in general is below average, the cupcake I tried was below average, the service was average, the prices were above average, so I feel I can only give 2 stars, although I hope to revisit in the near future and have a better experience, hence be able to leave a better review.
