Not only were we up against the housing market frenzy created by the pandemic, but we were looking in baseline competitive towns such as Montclair and Glen Ridge. Our secondary preferences were Maplewood, South Orange, and Essex Fells. Over the course of 5 months, we literally spent every weekend looking at houses. It was exhausting. I think we placed 10 or 11 bids, all of which failed. Our first agent was a very well respected local broker in the Montclair area with excellent reviews. After 5 months, we essentially quit, the process felt hopeless. Then after a few weeks, we decided to give our search another try with a different agent. And that's when we found Karin! Our first conversation was over the phone and we were blown away by her knowledge, creativity, and just intelligence. She proficiently assessed our situation (financial, architectural interest, location priority etc) and literally gave us a blueprint of what to do and how to focus our efforts. We knew that anyone she would recommend would be professional and knowledgeable. First, my wife and I spoke to Trish by phone extensively from California, letting her know our needs and checking generally for mutual chemistry. The match-up felt good and, upon arrival, Trish did what she told us she would do: she took us on a full afternoon's driving tour of the five townships that we were searching for a rental house. During that visit, and over the course of another, Trish showed us many relevant homes for rent. Soon we found the place we ultimately rented when she took us into a home that hadn't yet been put on the market but was represented by a realtor friend of hers. Trish represented us strongly during the negotiation of the lease and while ironing out the various kinks that came up during our move-in. We now will have Trish represent us in our search for a home to purchase during the coming year. She made sure the place was clean, she staged and had the unit professionally photographed.
