Chicken quesadillas with chips, sour cream and salsa

We're were working in the area and found Lois' kitchen. It is a local restaurant with plenty of options to eat. Home style ambiance. Not fancy but, nice. I ordered the chicken quesadilla with salsa and sour cream and unsweetened tea. The meal was good and hot and the tea was good too. It also came with chips. There are other options but, they are extra. There is so much to choose from that we will probably go there again if in the area.

Chicken Livers

Glad to find this gem in Chase City. Nice local spot yet friendly and inviting for all. Big selection of home cooking, sandwiches, pizza, and other dishes. Service was great and friendly. Price Is Right playing on TV, doesn't get any more hometown. Had chicken livers for lunch - they were amazing. Will be back to try more!

Stromboli

We were traveling through Chase City and stopped at the butcher shop and asked for a local favorite to get some lunch. The recommendation was Lois Kitchen and we were not disappointed. Two of us ordered the fish platter special and one the Stromboli. Each of us said our meal was delicious. If you have the opportunity to stop by you are in fir a treat. The service was phenomenal as well and will be coming back in the near future.

Latitudes On The Lake - Awesome view from the deck!

Who doesn't love a Restaraunt that you can ride up in a boat to the dock, tie off, grab a table,…read moreand enjoy the view. What a treat. This was our first visit to this establishment. Our expectations were high. As we walked down the dock checking out the other boats tied off along the way we could hear laughter and good music. (Be mindful of any loose boards) We were greeted as soon as we walked up and seated at an 8 top right on the deck viewing the lake. The menu had a lot of appealing items to select from. A majority of them being fried seafood fair. The prices were reasonable for the selection as well. The six of us all ordered something different. I had the Firecracker Shrimp (huge!), my wire ordered the crab cakes (disappointing due to more filler than crab at $22 for two), son had the 8oz burger (he loved it), tenders for the little guy, my uncle ordered the alligator bites which they were out of so he picked the catfish nuggets, and my aunt got the chicken nachos. The portions were rather large. Down to stars. I'm on the fence between 3 or 4 for these reasons. We arrived around 2:30pm and probably waited just over an hour for our food. The little ones were restless and cranky. The food was decent with the exception of the crab cakes. Servers were overwhelmed somewhat due to customers sharing stories from what I could gather from nearby tables. People are chatty when the mixed beverages are flowing. However, I love the experience, vibe, and the view. So 4 it is for this trip. You should check them out. I would definitely like to come back. It was really fun and I can only expect that place to get crazier as the summer goes on. Side note: If you order water, there is a $0.95 charge. Also there is a membership discount, but I don't know what that entails.

Since it was Mother's Day, we expected a long wait, but to our surprise, we were seated quickly. This is a large restaurant up on a hill with plenty of parking and a warm, welcoming feel. It was clean, and our greeter was kind. Our waitress was patient as we took our time deciding what to order, and we also placed a to-go order for my aunt. There was a small mix-up with the food, but it was quickly resolved with no fuss. My mom ordered the fried flounder with fries and coleslaw, and I had the same, but swapped the fries for fried okra. My husband went all out with a ribeye steak, fried scallops, fried okra, a side salad, and a bowl of clam chowder. The fish was fried perfectly--just a tad more salt would have made it ideal (though that's an easy fix), and next time I'll remember to ask for tartar sauce or hot sauce. The okra was crispy and satisfying, and the standout for my husband was the clam chowder, which I agree was rich and flavorful. More than the food, this place holds special memories for my mom, and now it holds one for me too. It's the kind of spot that becomes part of the family story. Every time we're in town, I'll be sure to take her back--for the fish, the view, and the memories.

The bartender greeted me and asked if I wanted the regular menu or was the lunch menu sufficient. I perused the lunch menu, which had several different options. Surprisingly, everything on that menu was half price! What a deal! I ordered the most expensive item, the catfish sandwich, which was only $10. Even though they were very busy, I got my sandwich within ten minutes. They call it a sandwich but there ain't no way I could eat it like a sandwich, even with my big mouth. The catfish came with onion, lettuce, tomato, and some kind of sauce on a toasted sub roll. It came with a knife. I cut off the first bite. It was .......... GREAT! Wow! I have always gotten BBQ or fish tacos before. Fantastic blending of flavors. It came with a choice of a side and I chose fries. The fries were barely alive. Good flavor but partially limp. That was the only negative. I wish I lived closer to Farmville. I would make them regular visits during the week. They keep teasing us about expanding to Madison Heights but no action yet.

I had the fried catfish which was nice and crispy yet light breading. Nice portions of baked beans and mac & cheese. Baked beans were very good, with a sweet bacon flavor but I'm a mac & cheese guy and theirs is incredible. Smoked flavor that just is throughout the cheese. Highly recommend stopping in. I will be going back and trying some other items.
