I am extremely upset about the service and quality of Joel and his team. We really wanted to like him-- he was referred to us for his cost segregation experience and we had a good first meeting. However, as we got closer to April 15 I got minimal communications from him. Then on 8pm on Tax Filing day itself, he texted that it would be late at night that he finished, then he texted saying he didn't finish and would file for an extension. Strike 1. Then I had to follow up April 20 since I hadn't heard anything and then over the next 2-3 weeks it was back and forth of reviewing his draft submissions and there was constantly inaccurate information, missing information, and overall poor attention to detail (he even missed including my 3 children as dependents). I was QCing accounting mistakes of my own CPA! Strike 2. I had to keep revising his drafts because his initially had us owing over 5-figures which was more than last year. I had to remind him then of how to approach the tax strategies that our family put in place. What I am even paying you for?! Strike 3. Then I had to still follow up with him when the final submission was going to be submitted (over a month late) and only then did he actual submit it, but I never even got a copy of the submitted paperwork (still waiting for it). Strike 4/5/6/ Needs to be thrown out of the game. I don't recommend at all and it's unfortunate since he seemed to do well with others, but not with us. Maybe he couldn't handle the complexity of our W2s and investments but never will I work with him again. read more

Joel is AWESOME! We use him for our Airbnb business and working with him is a breeze. While I am reasonably proficient at QBO, he set up my chart of accounts on QBO for me (the correct way after my initial attempt) and reconciles my accounts every few months. I was trying to learn QBO myself so I could keep his involvement to a minimum simply for cost reasons and he has always been willing to hop on a quick call and answer a question for me when I had them.
