Super friendly lady at the counter told us all about how the shop is run: essentially it all goes back to the community - to those in need. What I soon found out was that this place feeds the homeless and the less fortunate through its sales of (mostly) donated items. Upstairs, they have mostly clothing and downstairs has various items with a room dedicated to kid's toys. I spotted a couple of "Mach 5" cars from the cartoon Speed Racer - one of my childhood favorites. I was also told that the items from Luray Caverns were donated by the tourist attraction and these items were selling for about $1 - a far cry from the $8 they gouge people at the actual site. My girl picked up a shirt she liked and we were happy with our finds. The people running the store were very cordial and couldn't have been more helpful. Check the place out - you never know what you might find.

This is the kind of store I would love to see more of. (Like maybe where I live....fat chance!) The store owner, a very pleasant and engaging gal, operates a clean, informal shop fully stocked with new and used stuff that is priced correctly, which means "fairly priced cheap." No sleight of hand here. I consider myself a seasoned shopper, so as I browsed around, my consistent assessment was that the prices I saw on both food and non-food items were what they should be for bargain hunters like me. This is the kind of store parents should introduce their kids to without fear that their whining might run the risk of a wallet hemorrhage. Indeed, during my visit, I saw lots of happy kids with their parents in tow----not an unpleasant sound from the bunch! Discount depot, you're on my shopping route, I look forward to pawing through what you come up with next!

Plus, the lower start-up costs mean that those who have the passion and talent for running a boutique get the chance to, which they might not otherwise have had, and consumers benefit with even more options of where to shop. Anyway. I walked into the Brew & Blues Festival in Front Royal and stepped right into this truck. It was the first thing I saw, and I made a beeline for it. I actually didn't even know I was at a beer festival. I thought I was at a street fair or farmers market. The clothes and accessories are super cute, even though I didn't end up buying anything. The Gypsy Catwalk also offers a variety of sizes, which is appreciated. They had a rack outside the truck, which I think is wise, to draw people in. The woman was friendly, but I didn't really talk to her because I was a bit out of sorts that day, though I wish I had. Their website is very well done, and I highly encourage you to check it out. And clearly, if you can, check out the actual mobile boutique as well. I'm looking forward to staying updated on their whereabouts.
