Fun little library, especially for kids. Has a large…read moreselection of children's books, touchscreen computers for young kids. A unique feature is a small reading theater that doubles as a child play area, with a slide, stuffed animals and blocks. These features would be nice to keep one's kiddies occupied, so parents can do some reading, except this library lacks the reading nooks and private seating areas to do so. Southeast corner could be better utilized for private study or reading, but instead it's used for storage. And the couches in the middle are rarely occupied, their central location is so exposed its too distracting for a good read. Also, the adult and young adult book sections are very limited here. "Maker Space" is an interesting place for audio/video computing, but it's understaffed and underutilized. I know they do teach classes on it weekly, but I have yet to try one. I wish they had more activities for all ages of kids like I'm accustomed to at Salt Lake City libraries. They have a decent selection of books on cd, but have very few music cds. They have a lot of tv series on dvd, and a decent amount of movies on dvd. Blu-ray selection is small but mainly new releases. Library is kept clean and the building is relatively new. It has an odd area resembling a cafe with booths and large tables to do homework on. Public internet area is hidden behind the checkout desk, it's cramped but has ten computers. Free Wi-Fi is available here too. Because it's fun for young readers, I enjoy bringing my family here. But there's no real comfortable place for adults, and overall it lacks for everyday readers. But it's a small library, so some of this is to be expected. But I would rearrange the place and focus on comfortable spaces for folks to read.

Located in a really neat old building on Main. Local residents of Smithfield are missing out on a valuable resource if they are not familiar with this great place. Front doors facing main are fire doors only head around to the west side of the building for additional parking and main access. Parking by the city offices and on the west side of the building.

This library is NOT bike friendly. No common sense going on here. On a rainy day I parked my loaded…read morebike under the eave so it wouldn't get wet. I was on a bike tour (this means I was traveling by bike since I know you locals don't know about bike tours). The bike was completely out of the way of everyone. Common sense told me not to park it at the rack where the rain would soak my clothing, sleeping bag, etc. 2 hrs and 45 min later one of the staff told me I had to move it because where it was (any place but at the rack) was prohibited. I was informed that my bike was "vandalizing" the BRICK WALL. No lie - she and then the manager actually said this with straight faces. I asked for the manager. She came and the dance had to be played again. When I asked her to show me the damage the best she could do was give me a blank stare. Yet another American moving along in life as a zombie, doing as she's told just so she can have an undeserved pension in 20 yrs. Since she couldn't concieve of following common sense instead of rules, I gathered my things and left. However, while I waited for the rain to subside before taking off on my steed, within 10 minutes of each other, 2 employees came outside to check on me. They pretended to be doing something else, but it was obvious why they'd come out. The 2nd one even lied to me about it. The pretentiousness of this library doesn't match the state of the city it lies in. You'd think these people would have better things to do than to focus all their energy on a bike minding its own business leaning against a BRICK WALL.

This is my brother's library. It serves the Ogden Valley where he lives. The hours here put our…read morelibrary hours to shame. It's even open on Sundays. The building doesn't look particularly elegant from the outside, but inside it's spacious and the walls of windows bring in a lot of light and frame the surrounding mountains. There are computers lining the long front wall and there's always been at least one and usually more available when we've been there. The librarians are friendly and helpful and of course they know my brother, who's there a lot. There's a community meeting room and as you might expect, it serves as a gathering place for the valley's residents. Movies are shown and there are book groups and lectures. Art exhibits rotate through and paintings are hung on the walls of the entryway and beyond. There are attractive iron gates which presumably close off the library when it's closed but leave the community center available. I am unabashedly a library fan and this one is a gem valued and used by its community. I've sat at the computer when the weather outside is sunny or snowy and watched people drive up and come in, staying briefly or for a long time and then leaving.

This library is the nicest one I've been to in Davis County, I can't wait to sign up for my library card. Just need to find the time to get in and get one!
