We've been here for a year, and we are now moving to another state for work. We didn't realize what a great place the Lofts are until we started looking at other places. I would say this is the nicest place in the area and, given how nice it is, it is pretty affordable. Pros: - Right on Lake Crabtree and the Greenway - A short walk to Umstead State Park - Close to airport, freeway, etc. without feeling too close - Excellent gym is included in rent - Sophisticated clubhouse and common areas (more so than any other apartments I've been to) - Nice pool - Staff is very friendly and accommodating - The one maintenance issue that came up (broken light fixture, our bad) was fixed within an hour. - Pretty quite place - we rarely hear neighbors, and we've never had noise issues, etc. Cons: There really aren't too many downsides here... - Depending on where your apartment is, taking the garbage out can be a bit of a hike We've been entirely happy with our stay, and would recommend the Lofts to anyone looking for an apartment in the Cary/Morrisville area. read more

Office staff was discussing this young lady in front of me and claimed they would "fix"'her by messing up her lease. Not sure what they meant by that. This is NOT a luxury building! I lived here for over a year after relocating from NJ and moved out due to the site management team. Lyndzee, Brian and Allan are reasonable as long as you don't have an issue with the lack of courtesy regarding informing residents of changes or major maintenance work that inconvenienced residents or if you don't enjoy being gaslit and lied to. They will lie without conscious, and Lyndzee is extremely rude and verbally aggressive if you prove they're liars. Unfortunately, she's the regional manager. Be prepared to have a new management staff every quarter or 6 months. I think one lasted 30 days. That says something. I woke up to no water. I speak to Brian & Alan & they're not aware the water is off nor do they know how long it will be off. So, Brian sends an email to residents "REMINDING them the water will be off for maintenance". Gaslighting 101. Or you get a rent statement with an additional $40 charge because they've changed their corporate address & now "you don't have rental insurance & will be charged $40 a month until...". They never informed residents of the change of address. They completely didn't understand they could have informed residents of the upcoming change & given a time limit to update your rental insurance. Nope. Lyndzee and her team thought it best to bill everyone for not having insurance. They steamed cleaned the stairwell without notice. Water everywhere. When did we receive a notice that cleaning would be done? The next day. You know, "reminding us". If you had any moving planned for that day, too bad. The elevator is down at least once a quarter for hours. The dog park is full of poop. They sent an email about power washing the building. No dates on regarding when & what side of the building would be power washed. I was working when all of a sudden, a burst of bleach water is spraying all over my balcony, on my plants, inside the apartment..water is all over the floor. When I complained, I was told to call the power washing company. It wasn't their responsibility. You can't make this up. On several occasions, my car door would be open when I came downstairs. Nothing stolen. Just ran through. I noticed this with other cars as well. I speak to Alan about it & he casually brushed it off with a "oh yeah, that happens. We think it's someone in the building". I'm speechless. I asked, you don't think perhaps an email should be sent to warn residents or perhaps install cameras in the parking lot? Nope! He told me to call the police. The pool is always broken. It had never been open for the entire season when I lived there. Trash compactor breaks a lot so there's trash pile up in the area frequently. Aggressive breeds are permitted to live with their owners on the property. Not a nice feeling walking past growling pitbulls and rottweilers. I moved due to interactions with management. Specifically, Lyndzee and Brian. My unit had to be updated. I was offered a unit directly above my unit for one year and less rent. Brian sent me the paperwork and performed a walk-through of my unit. When it was time for me to walk through the new unit, he didn't show up nor call. I went to the office & spoke with Alan who made a face when I told him where I was transferring to. Brian was never found. The next day, Alan calls me to tell me, they rented they unit they gave me BEFORE Brian gave the agreement to me. Lyndzee was unable to prove this and...they had done this to 2 other residents I knew in the building. They basically promise you a unit, then rent it out to someone else if they can get more money. Then, you're told...they didn't know it was rented. After several annoying conversations, Lyndzee agrees to give me a $300 gift card and I'd have to rent the furnished one bedroom until my unit was renovated for a minimum of 45 days. I would still have to pay my 2-bedroom rent, pay to be moved and pay for storage. When I tallied the cost, I refused the deal and stated THEY should be paying for everything since I had an agreement, and THEY created the mess. Lyndzee didn't care. She said, that's the cost to move and then told me I was lying when I told her I knew 2 other residents they did this to & how they were greedy liars. I had to call Stolz, the parent company, to complain about Lyndzee's response and how they created my issue. After my complaint to Stolz, I get an email from Lyndzee saying how she can now realize the inconvenience and will give me $900 toward moving and storage but I'd still have to pay my current rent for a 2-bedroom for the 1-bedroom I'd be renting. I refused the deal and gave notice to vacate. Lyndzee then decides she's going to charge me the monthly no lease rental fee of $333 per month for the 2 additional months I was required to give them to vacate the property. I paid it and left. If you enjoy mgmt that is non existent then this is your place. If you like your ups, Amazon, usps packages left in a common hallways with unlocked doors and multiple thefts of your deliveries then you'll surely enjoy Lofts at Weston Lakeside. If you enjoy $400 late fees after paying 3 years consistently before due time rent then this is your place. If you like a green moldy pool every spring and summer that's open 50% of the pool season then this is your place. If you enjoy a gym with missing or broken equipment then move here! If you enjoy doors that are wedged shut tight that you can't physically open, other doors that your fob doesn't work, or a touch screen for doors that is so hot in the summer you will physically burn your fingers on then please join us here. If premium pricing that continually goes up and up but amenities go down down down then come pay us here! If construction from 6am to 7pm is your thing with no parking because 100 illegal workers take your parking daily then come over today. If I could leave a negative rating I would. I don't even know where to begin to describe what could improve. It's always hot even in the dead of winter. The community bathroom and bottom floor regularly floods so it smells like sewage. The water is yellow. Staff is nowhere to be found & I don't think I've gotten accurate information on anything since I moved in. The windows are barely secure in the wall. As nice as this place claims to be there are roaches everywhere. They are renovating while also renting so there's always construction & noise. Don't waste your money on this place. TLDR: The loft units seem fine based on my tour (those residing there have listed issues in their reviews), but I'd avoid the mgmt - leasing agent Alan and asst. mgr. Brian. They don't return calls, provide inconsistent pricing & fail to honor quotes, raising red flags about their reliability. Full scoop: We toured with leasing agent Alan in the morning of July 11 '24, getting pricing for two move-in dates (Aug 26 & Aug 20) & various lease terms (9-15 mo). Initial prices quoted were low to mid-1600s. Alan expressed uncertainty for one specific pricing in high 1500s for the 15-mo lease starting Aug 20, but no hesitation for any other combo of move-in date & lease term. Alan said he would confirm prices within an hour but we received no follow-up despite multiple calls & voicemails - 1ST RED FLAG. Next day, Alan called to informed that the 1500s pricing was incorrect, but the 1600 quotes would be honored. He, however, immediately followed that with next and higher quotes in the 1600s. For eg: $1605/mo was now $1695/mo. So essentially all quotes from day before were revised - 2nd RED FLAG. We asked Alan to confirm if any of the prices quoted during our visit would be honored. We again waited for several hours but never heard back so we visited in-person again. Alan confirmed that only the new prices from the morning call could be honored. Then the asst. mngr. Brian joined and said the prices from even the morning call couldn't be honored. He said the move-in dates of Aug 20th & 26th weren't even possible and the latest move-in date would be Aug 16th. Not only did they go back on the quoted prices twice but they also the lease start date - 3RD RED FLAG. This really set us off making us decide not to lease with them. This pricing inconsistency and lack of communication are not things we wanted to deal with. With no one to actually talk to about any issues in the units, and them not honoring what they have said, I can only imagine what living here would look like. As I said above, the units seem nice, but the management seems unreliable. If you don't face similar issues, it might be worth it, but I'd be cautious. Other properties managed by the same company, but different property managers, are worth considering. The Arboretum, which is less than a mi away, and comes with a garage parking included in the rent that is very comparable to the lofts, seems to have much better folks. read more

We have lived here since 2020. Our experience had been mostly good (love the apartment itself and lake/location), but recent developments warrants a one star. I agree with all others about the dog poop in elevator, constant construction, low parking availability, general wear and tear on the interior that is not maintained well, random very loud fire alarms going off/ being tested without notice, elevator frequently out of order, cockroaches. None of this had super irked me to the point of moving out. however, we are in the process of leaving now due to dealings with staff. There was a change in management around late 2023, and the new staff is wildly incompetent. We have lived in 3 separate units while here. Our 2nd unit, our downstairs neighbor played very loud guitar and singing at all hours of day, so excessively it could be heard all along the hallway. Management was not able or willing to ask him to stop, and they were also not willing to waive a unit transfer fee for us ($750). In Jan 2024, my spouse and I had signed a lease renewal. For some reason, only my spouses signature registered on the lease, and mine did not register on their end, despite us having both having signed it. Because of this, we were *without notice* put on month to month, which is an extra $500/month, to date now an excess of $1600 total in erroneous charges in addition to our already very overpriced base rent ($2100). I found this out from my bank statements, I did not get notice from lofts. When my spouse and I attempted to call, email, and go in person to attempt to problem solve, we were completely ignored by staff for a period of over two months and counting. Not a single sent email back to dozens of emails. Not a single phone call returned to dozens of calls. When we talked to someone in person, we got dismissive "oh yeah, we will ask upper management" from Brian with no action on this. I've never dealt with such blatant disregard, it's been infuriating to attempt to civilly problem solve, and to be ignored. We will be moving out. If you love never ending construction/renovation (parking lots, gym, public area) and right next, above and below your apartment + hallway; tenants constantly leaving their dogs to bark on the balcony and use it at their bathroom; cockroach infestation, smell of dog urine(because people just let them do their business right away at the fake lawn section), constant pool closures, smell of the Cary water reclamation (sewer) on certain days during summer located right next to the complex and pay a premium price...then this is your place. Before I moved here I was living at a college dorm with 2 room mates, this has been more pleasant and cheaper. read more

2 star is being a little nice. For valid reasons in my opinion. I moved here around a year ago, my fiancé already lived here, we just "upgraded" our space. He never really utilized the amenities due to working all the time. Things were great at the start everything seemed beautiful. The "salt water" pool, gym, dog parks and complimentary poo bags, indoor halls. Private Wireless key entry. The salt water pool is for sure treated with chemicals, I smell like chlorine when I get out. Only one man knows how to "take care" of the pool. This summer the pool got glazed over with green algae while he was out for a week. They claimed " the pump went out" as a previous pool owner myself, when the pump goes out you need to shut it down drain the pipes to properly confirm the issue is corrected. Not just replace the out of water pump. The filters are always dirty, I find myself cleaning them every time I go to the pool which should not be happening. The dog park always had poop all around the park especially the small one in the front corner. The poop bags are always empty and the main poo waste bin at the larger dog park is always over flowing and covered In shit flies. Aggressive dogs do live here and the owners take them to the parks and don't let anyone else in or even politely rotate time in the park. The indoor halls and open apartments for touring have since grown an large amount of roach activity... roaches, not water bugs. There is a distinctive difference in water bugs and roaches. The office claims they are water bugs because we are so close to the lake. Funny I never see them outside of these apartment buildings and they are identical to roaches. I'm from the north eastern states, I know roaches when I see them. Over the last few months halls always have trash (masks, fast food bags and cups, grocery bags, dog shit and pee stains, food and candy wrappers, etc) in them and have a stale smell like dirty tenants in the building the office is NOT in coincidentally. We have also had ALL of our neighbors in our wing change in the last 4 or so months. Which is around when the cleanliness has gone down. I don't give a fuck what is going on in your apartment but don't share it to the halls. The roaches we could all do away with. The elevator always has dog pee and stuff spilled in it the hand rail along the back is broken and the ceiling is falling. Along with the 50/50 chance it's actually going to be in service. The wireless key fob entry is great, except it's always broken. Yes you can easily slip a credit card in to open the ground door, but we shouldn't have to do that. Recently we have had some young rowdy neighbors move in who are loud, in the pool after hours, screaming at night from the parking lot to the balcony, flying through here in a mini van like it's a race track. As I was walking my dog they whipped the corner without caution and almost hit my dog and I. ***Our neighbors above us are stomping all hours of the day and night. I've asked them numerous times to be a little kind especially in the night hours and they continue. 2-3-4AM? Yep always stomping. And waking us up. During the work day I have found myself throwing shit at the ceiling to get them to calm down. Shoes, dog toys, soccer balls, anything to make them aware they are extremely loud. I had 2 of my light fixtures fall out of the ceiling in the first 2 months of living here. When we moved into our larger apartment we submitted a request for the dishwasher being backed up and smelling rotten, along with the garbage disposal having mold in the hose, backed up shower and sink drains and they didn't tend to any of that. I found myself taking apart the garbage disposal and dish washer pulling out the mold and gunk build up along with 2 gallons of drain cleaner and a drain snake to attempt to clear it all up. Nearly a year later it's still an issue. Maintenance didn't fix it, we had to. Maintenance is poor. You think apartment living is going to cover your repairs, they don't and they are not timely and friendly when you address the issues. The recycle bins are over flowing with common trash, there is only one trash area, the maintenance guy smokes on property all around all day it's disgusting, he even drives his car around to smoke, how about fixing our requests and not smoking on the job. FYI they never let you see your apartment they let you see another one. And you only see yours on the day of move in. Our had black pube like hairs everywhere, in clean counter tops appliances and the bathroom fixtures as well. The paint jobs are terrible. Splatters on the floors, counters and fixtures and the edging is extremely sloppy. The cabinets have chunks taken out of them and there is a small chunk missing from our island counter top. i've been here 5 months and the sole elevator has broken 6 times with fixes taking as much as 8 hours. There are suppose to be 2 grills but one blew up and I'm told it's been a year and is till not replaced. My A/C has broken 3 times in that time. Do not for any reason move into this apartment complex. They maintenance has been unreliable. The showers constantly clog and the management is horrible. If you live on the ground floor forget about having normal phone service. Half of the staff live here and act as though everything is fine because they get special privilege. The parking is an absolute disaster. First of all, there is no where to park. And they have been unreasonable in listening to the residents problems. I have also had my dog not only get fleas but also worms from taking him out around the area. It may seem convenient but all over this apartment complex is not worth any part of the hassle it has caused. I very much regret extending my lease and look forward to moving elsewhere. read more

I can not recommend. We've been residents for over two years and it just keeps getting worse. Last year we had major construction and lost access to our patio for almost 10 months (but the management company at the time compensated us with a monthly discount on rent). This is the 2nd year that the pool is either opening late or just not open. I just asked at the office if it will be available for this week's holiday weekend and I was told no. Last year we were offered the use of another property's pool while this one was closed. Today I was told no, the pool is an amenity and they refused to offer an alternative or discount on my rent so I could purchase a pool pass somewhere else. When I asked when it would open I was told it is closed "until further notice". Nice way to start the summer with a 90+ degree weekend and no pool. I work outside everyday and specifically make sure that where I live has access to a pool in the warm months. Management in the office does not offer options and tends to give an attitude when asked. This is very different from the experience I had with the previous management company. I am not renewing my lease and am looking forward to moving to a new property at the end of next month. read more

To be clear, we only toured apartments. Did not live here. Apartments are in a great location, and online the amenities look good (comparable to other luxury apartments in the area). The apartment is smaller for the price of others, but higher ceilings and on the lake, which is great. However, the customer service/leasing agent on duty was TERRIBLE. She was rude. We literally had to look for her when walking in - she didn't come out of her office to greet us, instead just yelled to come to her (I had two children under 2, would make more sense for her to come out to us). She then told me that I could not walk around the main office with my child while she was getting paperwork ready, and to "please supervise your child" (one was holding my hand, the other holding my husband's hand... They were being ANGELS). The rest of the tour was downhill - I won't even bother going into details. Don't bother going here. We toured much nicer places with friendlier agents. read more

I have not had a good experience living here. I was moving out of state prior to my lease ending and needed someone to sublet my apartment. They added the person to the lease but did not take me off of it as discussed and agreed upon. Several months later and they have still not taken me off the lease. So now I'm on a lease for an apartment that I am not living at. It is virtually impossible to get in touch with anyone. I have called, left emails, and even tried to send messages through the portal and no one ever responds. When you call, the call does not go directly to the staff. It goes to a call center and they tell you that they will leave a message for someone to call you back but no one ever does. I don't understand the purpose of having a call center if they can't actually help with anything. I was told that they were going to send me a form for myself and others on the lease to sign so that I can come off and they still have not sent it. I called to ask them to send it and guess what, the call went to the call center. They took my info and said someone would call me back and it's been 2 days and no call. The lack of communication is very frustrating and unprofessional. Emails always go unanswered as well. The staff should make communicating with residents a priority, but it does not seem this is the case. The apartments are nice, clean and in a good area, but if you need to get in touch with the staff for an issue it will be very difficult especially if you work during the hours they're open and cannot go in person. I'm very frustrated and quite frankly fed up with the lack of professionalism. Would not recommend. read more

We've lived at the Lofts for 8 months now and have to say it's been great for the most part. We moved in when they first opened so we had an apartment that had never been lived in before. There were a few minor repairs that are of course normal with a new construction, but the staff were extremely timely when it came to fixing them. Noise: Noise control seems to be about as good as it can be considering it's an apartment. I don't know of any apartment complex where you don't have some sort of noise, but there's not too much to complain about here. Safety: I have never felt unsafe at this apartment which was our main reasoning for choosing this place. The fact that your apartment entrance is indoors was a must for us. Outside door entrances are locked outside of office business hours. Cleanliness: Immaculate. Location: Couldn't be a better location. Building 2 faces the lake which is absolutely beautiful at sunset. This place is right off I40, convenient to RTP, Raleigh, Durham. Cost: This complex is a little on the pricy side, but given the information above, we feel comfortable with our first years rent. Our neighbors mentioned their rent going up by about $100 after their lease was up. This was quite a surprise. I guess I would say if you're only planning on a 1 year stay, this is a great place but don't be surprised if you get a much higher rate after your lease is up. Biggest ripoff in Cary. We moved down to the area in October of 2013. My fiance and I spent a frantic weekend looking at all sort of places in the area, and after looking at several other options we settled on this place. The place was still under construction, but that meant we would be the first in our unit. Nice thought, but that wasn't what sold us. The the amenities were very attractive, but the location sold us on it. Even so, the place was at least $150/month more expensive than other places we were looking at. Hindsight is 20/20, but man we must have had blinders on. Here's a few things we were told before we signed the lease: Pool would be finished in 2 weeks? Outright lie. Grills would be finished in 2 weeks? Even bigger lie. Apartments are well insulated against sound? Woah, that's the biggest whopper so far. Specifically, our upstairs neighbor stomps around like an elephant, then lets his kids wrestle and stomp around at all hours of the day. Then he lies about it when he says he only has custody in the evenings until 7pm...when we clearly hear the kids stomping around all day from 7am to 11pm. To top it off, management told us that our only recourse is to move out. The problem I have is that I've NEVER lived in an apartment where I could hear my neighbors so clearly, and I've lived in some cruddy places before. Water running, toilets flushing, drawers moving...you can hear everything. So even if our neighbors were ninjas we could probably hear every move they make. Even more so, this past winter several units had water pipes burst, which caused water damage to multiple units. Their response? Send out a letter noting how EXCITING this winter has been, and oh by the way make sure your renters insurance is up to date. Maybe I'm misunderstanding this, but I was under the impression that renters insurance covers damage caused by your negligence, not damage caused by someone else (e.g. the builders not sufficiently insulating pipes, or the management/resident not keeping the heat on in the units). This also speaks volumes as to how they handle problems. They're quick to shift the blame. The power went out a short while ago, as it happens to do in this area, and they sent out an e-mail saying that the power is out, but wait it's not our fault it's out for the whole area!!!! Yes, we know, but the fact that you're so defensive about it makes me think that it IS your fault. And when the pipes burst, they made sure to send out a link to an article about how some other apartments in the area had pipes burst. Because putting yourself in to the same company as other water-damaged places is always a good idea. I'm from Minnesota. When water pipes burst, it's due to negligence. Either the pipes weren't insulated enough or the heat wasn't on. Pipes don't just burst for no good reason. And on that, when the pool first opened a short while ago, they sent out an e-mail saying how great it is! But if you're in the pool after it closes, you might be evicted! Yes, they were literally threatening to evict people for using the pool past hours, BEFORE anyone could even use the pool. Build quality is also total garbage. The finishing details were rushed. The plank flooring looks like the cheapest stuff you can buy and still call it plank. The appliances look like the cheapest you can get and still call it stainless. Half the outlet covers in our unit were painted over (for those not in the know, you REMOVE the outlet covers before you paint around them. It's house painting 101). And did I mention that this brand new building is already falling apart? Literally. On the top floor, one of the corners has a giant crack in the wall, and the floor is sunken several inches. Rumors are going around about the foundation on that side being damaged as well. It's a wonder this place hasn't fallen in to the lake already. And I'm told that this 2nd building was built BETTER than the first building. Wow. It's no wonder that the previous owners unloaded this property ASAP. I feel sorry for the new owners. They bought a lemon, and now they have to make it work. All that said, the location is pretty good. But that only matters if you can tolerate living here. Worst of all, when we look at their website, they're gouging on prices. The place was already overpriced when we moved in, and yet the prices have nearly doubled since then. In conclusion, the concept is nice, but the execution was poor at best. We wanted to like this place so bad, and despite everything wrong we're so tempted to renew our lease. But I don't think that's going to happen. The management is just so terrible that it's just getting to be too much to deal with. read more

Because I had a great experience living at another Fairfield Residential property in Northern Virginia, I was very excited about calling into Lofts at Weston Lakeside. I was greeted by Nicole and I introduced myself and proceeded to ask a few (two to be exact) simple questions about the property and location. After asking the first question I couldn't believe my ears, there was a pause and I thought I was disconnected. It was a pause as if she was tired of hearing the same question over and over and began to speak slowly to me in a tone that appeared to talk down to me! Okay, maybe it's just me, let's continue as if that didn't happen and try to rephrase the question in a different way... Again another rude answer. Wow. At this time I just responded with "Okay, Thank you for your time!"And politely ended the call." I knew I didn't want to live here anymore. There is a bad attitude floating around that front desk and I didn't want to have anything to do with it! I'm looking a fresh start, the Lofts at Weston Lakeside looked like a great place to begin my journey, but Nicole clearly let me know that it wasn't the place for my new beginning. God forbid I need any kind of help with my apartment or general assistance. Looks like I'll be looking elsewhere for the time being. read more

Beautiful apartments with modern kitchens and luxurious bathrooms. I love the light from three sides in my corner apartment. I've lived here for about two years and it is so convenient, close to everything in nearby downtown areas of Cary Durham and Raleigh. The location is excellent and it is a quiet community unless you're home during weekdays and then you'll hear construction work or landscaping noise. We love the gym and access to Umstead . Overall it is my home and I'm thankful to live here. Unfortunately the community is falling apart and if you come home later than 5pm you have to compete for a parking spot. Garages cost $150 which is a ridiculous price but almost worth it to have a guaranteed space. We've had issues with our apartment - Im currently sitting in the dark writing this review as just our apartment has lost power. It seems to be the only apartment without power. Our dishwasher has been replaced but still is mediocre compared the the last apartment I lived in where the rent was lowe. Communication is an issue as we've been outside at night (multiple times since moving here) due to fire alarms going off but no explanation or apology about why the alarm went off. Should we be concerned? Or were the alarms working as necessary? The office staff is very kind and helpful but the company has a ways to go regarding communication and community upkeep. read more

Lofts at Weston Lakeside is an awesome place to live! Danielle and Kim are so friendly and will do anything to help you have a pleasant experience here. The apartments are extremely nice and the amenities are great (salt water pool, common space with kitchen, spacious exercise room, outdoor grills, etc.) We even have food trucks every Wednesday. There are also opportunities to help out the community through various donations/service events that happen throughout the year. It really is a great community to be a part of. Plus the dogs here are super cute. read more

We lived at the Lofts for almost two years until we moved out of state. We loved living there. We liked the great central location and the convenient access to Umstead Park, Crabtree Lake and many trails. We liked the apartment features, especially the high ceilings and large windows. It has great amenities and the staff is friendly and responsive. They treated us and our dog like family. The other residents were friendly and welcoming as well. The community was definitely dog-friendly. We would highly recommend it. read more

The location and amenities are nice and was one of the main reasons we chose to move into Lofts while our home was being finished. The apartments themselves are ok but probably not worth the rent they are asking. As another reviewer stated, they are not very well sound proofed. Ours also had a strange plastic smell, I guess from the cheap carpet and flooring. The main reason for my 1 star rating is the management. We called a few days in advance to confirm our move-in date/time with the property manager. They said they were all ready and looking forward to having us. When we arrived on our move-in day, we were issued keys but on entry in the apartment found it very dirty with piles of trash on the kitchen counter and strewn all over the floor. The bathrooms in particular were filthy. We were super grossed out and found it really disappointing that no one had bothered to check that the apartment was move-in ready. Of course we complained but as a result we had to wait several hours to unload our moving truck while they cleaned up the apartment. The cleaning job they did was passable with the exception of the toilets which still had poo stuck to the rim. Not a great first impression by any means. While we lived there it became apparent that there were certain residents who liked to behave more like frat boys than the young professionals you might expect in a complex with such a high price tag. The pool was closed numerous times because people brought beer bottles there and left broken glass in the bottom of the pool. There were also a number of problems in the apartment like the laminated floors peeling up that meant we had workmen coming in to fix them on a pretty regular basis. Fair enough in some ways but for a 6 month stay it got to be a bit excessive. On one occasion they unplugged the fridge to be able to re-lay the floor and then left for several hours without any explanation. I finally called the management office to find out where they had disappeared to and to let them know it wasn't ok to leave all our food to spoil. They seemed very relaxed about the whole thing and said the guys would come back eventually. Finally, as another reviewer noted, on move out these people are quite dodgy with the money. It took my husband going round several times in person to get our deposit back and even then it was much less than anticipated. The excuse was the final water/sewer bill which given it was only for a few days of a month seemed a bit suspect. Then when duke energy failed to switch off our power, I called Lofts to get them to take over the charges on the account since they had been the ones using the power in the month we had not been living there (our lease ended a month prior). They assured me they would pay the bill and even sent me an email stating they had submitted the bill for payment and would be cutting a check before the end of Sept 2014. Well as of today (Oct 22) the bill has still not been paid. I have called and emailed numerous times to find out why they first said they would pay it and now obviously have no intention of doing so. Because the bill was in my name and I didn't want to get a bad credit rating off the back of not paying, I have paid it myself. read more
