Do not purchase any dogs from Lofranco Kennels !! My dad had bought a kuvasz puppy from them a long time ago at the price of $600,guranteed that he would be a good breeding dog. Around 3-4 years old he was diagoised with hip dysplasia from the vet which obviously meant he could no longer be bred. When we informed the kennel of this asking for our $200 back (non breeding dogs were listed at $400), they refused and insisted he developed his hip dysplasia from going up and down stairs. Needless to say we never saw that money and had a lot to deal with making sure our dog was comfortable. Please do NOT buy from this breeder and do your research carefully! read more

Please DO NOT purchase a Kuvasz from this Lofranco Kuvasz Kennels! Unless you enjoy killing puppies.... She sold me a Kuvasz puppy with a congenital and possibly inherited neurological/ cerebellar disease that will force me to put the puppy to sleep. When I called Darla Lofranco to ask her about this and tell her what all the doctors have told me, she insisted that ALL of the vets were idiots who knew nothing about the breed. I asked if my puppy was the only one born sick she informed me that 3 OTHER PUPS FROM THAT LITTER WERE SICK in one form or another. I was absolutely stunned. I purchased a Kusvasz from Lofranco Kennels, and have had this puppy for 2 months and my family as well as myself have fallen in love. I noticed that my Kuvasz was having trouble using his back legs. I have taken him to several vets and specialists, all of them told me the same thing that this poor dog was born with an under developed brain and a degenerative neurological condition that is more than likely something that is in the bloodline. All of the doctors that we have seen have all said the same thing, the humane thing to do would be put him to sleep. My heart is broken, this is such a loving breed that is easy to fall in love with, I have not put this poor creature to sleep yet because it is hard for me to be the one that decides if this dog lives or dies and the fact that Darla and Frank Lofranco are selling sick dogs to families is not right. read more

Lofranco's claim to fame is the Kuvasz Delilah in Disney's Homeward Bound2. My second Kuv came from this breeder. By the time she was barely a year old we discovered she had Addison's Disease. My first Kuv from a different breeder had Cushing's, so Addison's (just as bad is almost the mirror opposite). Addison's IS GENETIC. I called Lofranco and she tried to tell me we could ship our dog back (WTH?) She then tried to tell me that Addison's was environmentally caused! I owned Kuvaszok 25 years and this much I can tell you, they are amazing dogs but a small gene pool has led to a breed riddled with genetic disorders. It was heartbreaking and expensive and Lofranco's bloodlines, (one of the oldest Kuv breeders in North America) run thru much of the dogs being sold. Before you buy any Kuvasz read it's bloodlines and insist that not only it have OFA clearances but no genetic disorders. Don't look to the Kuvasz Club of America to help, they protect their own. read more
