My Nan's ashes were scattered here, and there's a beautiful woodland area full of flowers and trees that have been planted in the memory of loved ones. It's a truly enchanting area of the cemetery, and feels more like a thriving natural garden, than a morbid crematorium, so it's the perfect place for a relative to rest. The whole site is really big too, with lots of greenery and trees dotted around the entire land, which makes the experience more relaxed and less depressing to catch some time for yourself. I don't know if it's just me, but I always feel cold at most cemeteries, even on hot summers days, but at Robin Hood Crematorium, there's this unexplainable warmth of vibrant nature, which coincides with the generic rows upon rows of gravestones at most cemeteries. The on sight church doesn't look as old as most churches, and I guess that's a bit of a let down, because the architecture isn't anything grand or special. But as far as the grounds go, this cemetery is as peacefully inviting as they get.

Firstly I have research about Witton and found out that this huge cemetery opened in 1863 and it's actually the largest one in Birmingham with an area that covers 103 acres! For its size it's also quite impressive how this place is conserved and the tombs are almost all intact even with some of them being exposed to the elements for so long years. Some other interesting facts about Witton: * There are 459 First World Wars burials * Maps of the site is available in the cemetery office * It's part of some popular Walking routes in Birmingham The Witton Cemetery is open on weekdays from 8.30 am to 4.00 pm ( except in May, June, July, August and September when it is open until 4.30 pm) and weekends from 10 am to 5 pm ( expect in January and December when it is only open until 4 pm).

Whilst Highgate has loads of famous dead dudes, Rowley Regis Cemetery is where the children's author Allan Ahlberg used to work as a grave digger. He is still very much alive and has written some nice things about his days in the Black Country. The cemetery is located on a gentle slope down from Rowley Regis towards Old Hill. It is quite spread out and very neatly tended. A small flower stall is set up at the main gates most weekends. Parking is a bit of a pain, with most people choosing to park on Moor Lane. I find it really odd that it so close to Rowley Regis Hospital, the view must really bum some of the patients out.

There's a land train, buggy tours, and walking tours that are a small charge. We went on a buggy tour as we were recommended one, and the lady who took us was extremely knowledgeable. There are some lovely sculptures and monuments, a clever one being the naval one, where, when the sun shines through at eleven on Remembrance Day, you see an image of a destroyer on the ground. There's a small parking charge of three pounds which goes straight to their charity (the charity number is even listed on the parking signs), and lasts all day. We didn't eat there, but the cafe smelled lovely (the back end of the restaurant smelled a bit like sprouts, but you can't win everything). It's well thought out, with even the chairs cut into tree silhouettes. Seeing the freshly carved names is probably what hits most.

From the minute we walked into building we were made very welcome, being offered refreshments and treated with the utmost respect and humour when needed. Robert dealt with everything for us, helping us make the right decisions for our needs and wants with regards to the funeral and even with what to do with the ashes. I can only praise Robert for his dealings with us, he was patient, kind, respectful, humourous at appropriate times and very, very helpful. My mother has decided to take out a funeral plan with the co op as she was so impressed.

Meeting with what ever request we had including adding a message onto their media page and arranging a live web viewing for those unable to attend. On the day of the funeral Matthew was very calming and put myself and the family at ease, he had time to talk and listen. He was very professional in everything he did and was one step ahead, if there was any problems we certainly didnt know. He ensured my family were the most important people by talking/guiding us through the day every step, walking us in and seating us and the respect shown to my dad was outstanding. Communication has been excellent all the way along, listening to me talk about dad and his life, almost like they were part of our family, understanding our pain.
