It's my first time to get a dental service in UK. I just moved here, I got registered to this clinic knowing that they can provide good service. When I first asked the receptionist to help me for my registration, she's abrupt, unhelpful and unfriendly. Not a good impression from a new patient. I thought maybe she just had a bad day. After that I had an appointment the next day, I was under the impression that the dentist will check my teeth and after that he will clean it. When I got to my dentist, he took xray of my teeth and check them. It was like 15 mins conversation, I asked a lot of question to understand their system knowing I am a foreigner in this country. I asked if he will clean my teeth and he said he will but after that he sent me to the receptionist to talk about filling for my teeth. I am an NHS member and I understand that I need to pay extra service charge if I am not receiving benefits, that's totally fine. What concerns me, in the reception area, there is a NOTICE to public saying that patients need to be on time to avoid any delays and to respect other patients, fair enough. However, my appointment was scheduled 2:15pm and I waited 15 mins before I got entertained by the dentist. I went to the receptionist, she explained that I need to pay upfront 30 GBP for all the 4 fillings for my teeth and need to book for another appointment. I asked if there is another time slot within the week since I will start a new job next week and I don't know when I can get a time off from work. She said there is time slot the following day but not a guarantee til payment has been made. I said, I will discuss it with my husband first before booking new appointment. I asked her if I can call her and see if she can book me an appointment over the phone and I will pay it on the day of my appointment itself. She said not possible. Their system is so tight and not flexible. So, I don't have choice but to go there myself and asked them if there is availability. Again, they told me no more availability, I said, the girl yesterday told me that there is availability today 10 to 9AM. The receptionist right away rejected my request without checking in the system if they can insert me. Is that good customer service? The lady said she can put me on the cancellation list just in case someone will cancel within the week since I badly need to get my teeth done. I went home disappointed for all the hassles they have caused me. The same day, I got a phone call telling me that there is availability, I asked her if she can book it for me and I will go there and pay. She said, NO, I need to be there and pay it. She said she can get my cc number over the phone? Isn't that contradicting, yesterday, I asked if I can call and book the appointment over the phone and they told me NO, and now, it is possible for as long as I have my cc number. I could have done that yesterday and avoid all the hassles walking jsut to book the appointment. I dont have my cc yet but my husband does, so obviously, I cant book it with her over the phone by the time she called coz my husband was at work and go back to the clinic again. Now when I get there I asked if the 4 fillings and cleaning of my teeth can be done on the same appointment. The receptionist said, she cannot answer me the question bcoz only the dentist can answer it. I asked, is there a way that I can ask the dentist personally so that I can check my itinerary because yesterday I was under the impression that the dentist will clean my teeth but he didnt and took my 17 pound service charge. They keep telling me that I can always rebook within 2 months which I dont have the luxury of time. They said the only way to ask the dentist is during my appointment itself. This clinic doesnt understand the essence of time. The receptionists don't know how to read between the lines, very unhelpful. They dont provide options to patients and not even exhausted all means before saying NO to patients. They don't educate their patients especially those new patients and they assume that they know the system already. I hope this feedback will serve us a wake up call to them and review their system and how they give customer service to their patients. It's very sad to know that they were there to provide service and you are paying them the right amt and not getting the quality of service. You can totally feel that they were there to work for the sake of working and not because they care about you as a patient. read more
