The place has something extra special that I've only now been able to identify after having to put down my kitty of 17 years. It's that they are not only superb doctors (and nurses and techs and office staff) to your pets, they are also compassionate and kind, empathic human beings to the pet owners as well. They consider not only your pet as their client, but you as well. Due to Covid-19, when it came time to put my sweet kitty to rest due to a tumor, I was not permitted in the building. Instead, Dr. Julia came outside to the picnic table in the back with the tools she needed as well as a box of tissues, and sat with me as I held my girl and cried as she was sedated. And we talked. And Dr. Julia remained with me as long as I needed. Just listening and lending support. A week or two later, I received a condolence card made of wildflower seeds with words of support from the entire staff. They didn't just sign their names. They offered words of condolence and messages that said "thanks for giving her such a wonderful life". These people are really special. Thinking back on the time when my other cat, Mr. Kitty was at the hospital for a urinary blockage and Dr. Charlie called me multiple times a day with updates on his condition and then arranged for his surgery with another vet who specialized in the surgery he needed, I can't help but feel that this group is extraordinary. Oh, and did I mention that a member of their staff adopted my friend's dog after she lost her battle with depression? Yeah, there's that, too.

What a wonderful experience and such a kind, caring and knowledgeable professional staff!…read more This is the only veterinarian we actually look forward to going to. Dr. Suzanne Smith is supremely human and humane and care steeply about your pets as if they were her own. The prices are very fair, and our animals actually like going there.

In any case I got Hunter from a pet store at the local mall. I knew nothing about animal rescue or the SPCA and Hunter was just a young pup when I got him. He was never difficult with myself or any of my family members or friends but for some reason he had "hot spots" on his front paws and legs and of course he was in pain and he gave poor Dr Smith a whale of a hard time, so much so that I never understood why as she was quite patient with him and as I mentioned he was a handful. I recall the Dr's kennel assistant asking me "What kind of relationship I had with Hunter", implying she believed I had physically abused him and nothing could have been further from the truth. In any case I felt awful as I have always taken the best of care of my pups. When Hunter reached the age of 10 he became unmanageable and attacked me to the point he took a large chunk of my right arm out and I had to have him put down. I was baffled by Hunter's behavior but about 10 or 15 years later I finally found out what Hunter was suffering from. I was certain he was in bred as he was a puppy mill dog. Oddly enough I shared this story with a kennel man that was recommended to me by Dr. Thomas Trotter, a vet school class mate of Dr. Smith's and this kennel man explained to me that in all likelihood my dog Hunter suffered from a cognitive disorder called "Spaniel Rage", I had never heard of it but the kennel man described the symptoms to a Tee and I finally learned why, it was upsetting to say the least. In any case I felt very bad about it but from that time on all the wonderful companion animals I adopted came from my local SPCA in Eatontown and I became very active in supporting the work they did as they were a "No Kill" shelter and Dr. Smith's class mate Dr. Trotter has been my vet ever since and he is as able as Dr. Smith, both these veterinarians are tops in their fields. With Dr's like these I never had to second guess any decisions they made as they exuded my complete trust. Both Dr.'s Smith and Trotter are certainly examples of what a Dr. should be, and their dedication is beyond reproach IMO.
