I wanted to update my review based upon further great service I received. Also after having read…read moreit a year later, I could see room for improvement. Amazing service! I highly recommend these guys. This locksmith is the only honest one who anyone seems to know about in Winnipeg and was highly recommended to me by others who had used the company. I'd heard about their integrity and skill by word of mouth, which is why I called them first. I hired A-Affordable to install indoor locking doorknobs in the doors of two rooms in my house. I also purchased the locking doorknobs from them. I spoke on the phone to a locksmith there by the name of Jeff. He gave me a quote over the phone for a great price. While the prices were great, what most impressed me was this man's honesty. I had at first asked him about having two fingerprint locks put in. He explained to me that he had no problem selling me the locks and installing them for me, if I wanted them, but advised me against them. He explained that they were not only costly, but often prone to malfunction. He told me that he frequently has to attend to calls to open or repair malfunctioning fingerprint locks that have locked out their owners. I hadn't done my research on fingerprint locks and if he wasn't the honest guy that he obviously is, he very easily could have upsold me two costly locks that I didn't need and would have been disappointed with. He suggested a really practical key lock door knob and I purchased two of them from him along with installation. When the locksmith showed up at my place he introduced himself as Jeff. So I was pleased to get the same locksmith I had spoken to on the phone. Jeff was very punctual arriving at my place right on time to do the installation with my new locks in hand. He even had the courtesy to phone me 30 minutes ahead of the appointment time, to let me know he was on his way. He was extremely polite and came across as a very courteous and likeable fellow. He worked very carefully yet remarkably quickly with an obviously practiced hand. He deftly removed the old doorknobs and installed the new locking ones on the doors of each of the two different rooms; lubricating and meticulously checking all the components as he installed them. I really appreciated how careful he was not to damage or scratch anything. He very patiently answered every question I asked him as he worked. After the locks were installed he double checked each of them to ensure they were working correctly and tested each of the keys. The locking doorknobs he sold me are very high quality and extremely sturdy, whilst also being highly attractive. They were exactly what I was looking for and he chose them based solely upon my verbal description. His quote on the phone was a total price of $150 for everything: 2 locking doorknobs (each one with 2 keys, so 4 keys total), he set up each of the two locking doorknobs to use a different key at my request (each lock needs a different key). The $150 he quoted also included all labour. In the end, the grand total for everything actually came to less than quoted. Somewhere around $140, after tax. If you need a locksmith, don't pass these guys up, as they really are one of, if not the only, honest locksmith company in town, who are also genuine, professional locksmiths. There are many locksmith scams going on right now all over Canada, including Winnipeg. A very large number of locksmiths and locksmith companies are both corrupt and incompetent. Most of them don't even own lock picks. These other, dishonest locksmiths usually charge you a huge callout fee, then, after they show up, tell you the that your lock is either too new or too old to be picked and must be drilled out (destroying the lock); which they do. The reason that the dishonest locksmiths want to drill out your locks is to destroy them so that they can charge you several hundred dollars for new locks and their installation. After my previous positive experience with A-1 Affordable, I am going to be hiring them again to open a couple of lock boxes to which I have lost the keys. When I called them and inquired about the particulars, they told me that these lock boxes wouldn't be any problem to pick and that the process wouldn't cause any damage to the boxes. I'm happy to have found these locksmiths, as opposed to one of the fraudulent ones, who would more than likely drill the locks and destroy my lock boxes. Now that I have found a highly skilled locksmith who possess both genuine credentials as well as honesty and integrity, I know I'll be using A-1 Affordable from now on!

From the first communication with the office right through installation I found all involved courteous and professional. Scheduled a date and technician arrived right at the beginning of the window of time they gave me. Installation was complicated because the door had glass window with very limited room to expand the hole as was needed for my touchpad. The technician made it happen. It took a couple of hours and I was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable price charged. Unequivocally recommend this firm.

The serviceman who came to look at the problem opened up the mechanism, walked in and out of the store a couple of times, while on his cell phone with his office and half an hour later I received a call from the office. I was told that the parts would be $300-$400. I told this person(Roland) that my parts were on warrenty. Would I be able to get the part #'s. Oh he didn't know the parts all of a sudden. How did you get the quote then? I now had a service charge of $150-$200 though. After I expressed shock to the high rate of a service call, Roland threatened to take me to court and hung up on me. He called the next day where I agreed to pay a minimum charge $120 for the service call. Thought it would be done there but he continued to try and insult the company who installed it saying that they wereinexperienced, I guess because they have a service call charge of $45!!! Maybe they should be called Illegal Locksmith for their tactics of extorting monies from small business owners. You picked the wrong woman to screw over this time. I had a feeling that the small metal clips weren't worth $400??? That's right, they were $26 a piece for 4 of them which ended up needing to be replaced.
