I still bag molds that Sean (the owner) recommended back when I showed up to the shop for my first time back when I was learning. Early on I used to order discs online, but stopped years ago because being able to pick out a stamp and weight you like is a much better experience overall. It's also nice to support a local business. The shop also puts on a ton of really awesome events throughout the year that bring out a great community. If you get a chance, I highly recommend showing up to at least one of them. I feel lucky to have the opportunity to be able to regularly hit the shop and get a round in at The Canyons. Forever my favorite shop, and I'll forever plaster by bag and truck with stickers and patches.

A pretty big park is in Lockport and has lots of room for various activities and fun. Dellwood Park…read morehas athletic fields for baseball and more. It also has areas for recreation. Has a disc golf course. There's fun here for any season. First looking at this park it doesn't seem as big. It actually is pretty deceiving as it goes back a long ways from the road. The entrance road twists around various athletic fields and parking lots taking you through. Best thing here apparently is the disc golf. It's often the reason people come here. The Canyons is what it's called, and people are always here tossing frisbees and having a good time. It seems difficult. This isn't for beginner or casual players. A lot of opportunities to have fun. It's best known for disc golf. There's facilities for other types of sports too.

Convenient stop along the I&M canal trail Free public parking is available just to the south of the plaza. There are establishments serving food and drinks right near by. Lockport's Lincoln Landing is located along the old I & M canal and next to the Gaylord Historic…read moreBuilding. It is a nice setting for a small park and is full of historic information. I love finding little treasures like this. We were there on a weekday, so we almost had the place to ourselves. The view up and down the canal was really scenic. We watched a family of mallards preening on the bank of the canal. Then we walked around reading all the historical markers and communed with a strange statue of Abe Lincoln. It seems like there is always something new to learn about our 16th president. We had already eaten lunch or we would have tried the restaurant in the Gaylord Historic Bldg. This is a really nice site for locals. As we live 40 miles away, I don't think we will get back here soon, but if we are in the area, we will check it out again, especially in the spring or fall.

Here's a great historical site to explore in Joliet. It's free, and it's all outdoors. Back in the…read moreday, Joliet was one of the leading iron/steel manufacturers in the United States, as it provided several locals with jobs. Many of those people were immigrants who had trouble speaking English. You'll learn about the history of Joliet Iron and Steel Works by walking the nearly one mile trail. I didn't spend more than 45 minutes here, but I felt like I learned a lot. I also didn't walk that far on the trail, but I was more than impressed with what I saw. There are lots of ghost structures of the old remains. Obviously, it is not recommended for anyone to go near them (or behind the fenced area). But they're great for photography either way. And of course, you can get your exercise on the trail, which connects to others. Make this a must-see if you're in the area.

Parking is a bit tricky if your not familiar with the area. It's got a picnic table, restrooms and water. The path heads straight to the I&M trail as well but you'll see remants of a former Joliet in its prime. It's one of the few things that are actually fun to do in this boring city. (no offense) definitely check it out. The path is great and unique. Definitely check out the brick path. I only wish they described more of what the buildings and paths were originally used for with pictures provided.

A nice place for some nature in Joliet. It seems like an interesting place for a couple of minutes…read more Pilcher Park doesn't have a ton to do but it's good for kids with a short attention span. Check out the nature center. There's some woodland critters like snakes and turtles. It kind of is out of the way from the rest of Joliet but that helps this be not as busy. Often it's pretty quiet and only a few people are here. There's some fantastic learning opportunities. Good for kids. It doesn't have a whole lot to look at so good to get in and out. They have some interesting critters to look at while in there. Be sure to check the nature center's hours. It's only open a few hours or so. There's up close and personal interactions with woodland critters if you're a fan of especially snakes and whatever.

I'm walking down memory lane and ended up here at Pilcher Park. I haven't been here since age 14 -…read morenever mind how long ago that was! It's changed a bit. Some of the buildings are in disrepair and the wishing well is dry. Regardless, it's still an amazing park. The green trees and lush foliage are breathtaking still. The walking/bike trails are well maintained and everyone appeared to be relaxed and enjoying themselves. What a great day!

This course is beautiful…read more Allowing you rip off the first tee blindly to the pin situated beneath two rolling hills is nice. The scenery is nicer in the fall when the landscapers keep the wild brush high and wheat makes an appearance. Traveling to 3 is not as safe as it could be with rotting steps and a steep decline down on rocks. The rub on 4 is trying to stay out of the thickets on the left with thorns everywhere.Tricky design leads you wandering looking for holes- 5- with no signs posted. The shortest hole is only 100 feet and a straight shot, so this is best opportunity to score yourself an ace for your bag. Replayability is high, as well as those scroungers that wish to pick up discs. If my Champion Wraith (Noam Chomsky) is found, I would greatly appreciate it back. Neon Green. Replay: High

I recently did the evening tour which ends when the sun is almost gone for the day…read more The guided tour itself is really informative, you get 90 minutes of history and walk a total of about a mile inside the old prison grounds. You get to walk inside the West cellblock and a few other buildings. Sadly, several of them were burned by morons during the period between 2003-2017 when this was totally vacant and unused. But funding comes in little by little to make repairs. The old portion of the prison was designed by the same architect who designed the famous Chicago water tower. There are some newer elements as renovations were done in the 1950s and 1990s. The docents are very knowledgeable and have good stories to tell about the infamous former inhabitants of the prison. If you want to save a little money you can do a self guided tour as well.

It was fun, and I enjoyed being able to walk around the property…read more There are multiple attractions you can visit, although one was full of flashing lights and no warning of such, so I had to close my eyes while my husband guided me through. There are too many people with neurological issues affected by strobes to not warn patrons. That was an awful experience. I hope to come back some day and do a tour during the day. The location is very interesting.
