At drop off his first day the morning teacher didn't say much either. She didn't really offer any assistance when I was trying to leave and my son was visibly scared and upset. This went on for the weeks he was there. I did not like the staff member who hung out with the kids until his teacher showed up. She said good morning and that's about it. Towards the end I think she could tell I was irritated and offered my son things to keep him occupied while I left. My overall feel was these "teachers" don't like being there. I did not like this environment. When The lighthouse opened we made the switch and it was night and day! My son was SO EXCITED for daycare because the staff is AMAZING! I got constant updates, I don't have to ask for his meals to be updated through the day, he was engaged, the teachers are engaged and happier. I would never suggest Stepping stone to anyone.

We love the small school feel of it, with community and teachers who know the children well. The school is an establishment in the community, and I meet many people with grown kids who attended there. My kids love the shady playground, and my older kid who is no longer there still maintains that it has the best swings in Austin. There is also a nice open indoor hall for rainy or hot days, as well as activities like Soccer Shots they offer. There is a healthy breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack cooked each day by the school chef. The school is play based and focused on learning through play, which I think is perfect for this age. After my initial call, he had sent a form to get my appointment booked for the next weekday. I arrived about 15-20 minutes earlier than my expected appointment and never brought it up, nor did he make me wait. He also offered to wear a mask if I felt more comfortable and offered me a bottled water. I never felt rushed, and he made it clear he could take as many photos as I'd like until I was satisfied. I'm on CCS and going back to work. The staff refused to let my girls in daycare today over $5.50 from a late fee. I paid them $91 on Monday to cover all meals until August 14th and had a late fee already added to the total. I was struggling to pay for the meals since I just started working on July 18th. Then the girls and I were sick from July 28th and could not return to school/work until August 7th per doctor's orders. I missed an entire week of work. Kaitlyn, the owner's daughter, was very aggressive with me when I tried talking to her. She said everyone has had struggles and too bad. She escalated the situation by following me all the way out to the parking lot, berating me and yelling that it was their policy, and she would be reporting me to CCS for failure to pay. I'm so upset that my babies were there and how unprofessional she was. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Most all of them claim to provide a healthy mixture of freedom to promote creative expression while instilling strong social and academic standards. While we have enjoyed other platforms, none compare to the lighthouse. Our 2.5 year old daughter is very standoffish and slow to warm up to new enviroments. As a covid child she spends a majority of her time with her one sibling and appears to suffer from social anxiety. Our daughter was given the final say on whether she is comfortable there and her smile tells the story. Following the initial 10 days ,she lights up when we turn the corner into the parking lot. She skips as she enters the space. She greets the welcome committee at the door. She embraces both of her teachers (Bri and Megan). For a child appearing to suffer from social anxiety, this is a big deal for us. Obviously, they have an amazing curriculumn, obvioulsy they are clean and modernized. Obviously they are a secure inside and out. Obviously, they respect allergies and sensitivities. What isnt obvious is the intangible. Greeting you by name and actually remembering you is basic, they make it a point to get to know you, your child, their needs and their support group. It's genuine. You can feel it! Janna, the director, truly has my child's best interest in mind and ensures a nurturing and supportive environment. Morning drop off is always a breeze with smiling faces and good mornings from all of the staff we see. The owner, Brad, runs a fantastic daycare that is well-organized, clean and safe.
