AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!! AVOID ALAMO AND ENTERPRISE THEY ARE THE SAME. THE WORST EVER!!! WE RENT A CAR FROM ALAMO WE SUPPOSED TO GET IT FROM ENTERPRISE AND IN THE END WE GET IT FROM LOCAUTO!!! RIDICULOUS!! We have rented a car in Treviso Airport at 18.06.2017 and despite a fact, that we have been forced to use another renal company (nobody informed us, that Alamo/Enterprise is in fact - Locauto) we fell cheated by this company. From the beginning - at moment of picking up the car I asked for a possibility to check it for any pre-existing damages before I will sign a protocol. Worker started LAUGHING and said, that it is not possible and he checked the car before anyway. I signed the document then - saying the car is free of any damages and other issues. When we came to the car park, we noticed that the car is all the way dirty. Also it was dark outside and the light on a car park almost didn't exist so it was almost impossible to check the car for any possible damages. After the trip - when we were returning vehicle to Palermo airport at 26.06.2017, worker started checking it and immediately found two damages. Small dent between a right part of the body and rear bumper. HE DIDN'T EVEN PRETEND TO CHECK THE WHOLE CAR and came to this dent straight away, like he already knew about it. Also a scratch on a right mirror, done by a scooter driver who escaped. I have been charged €440 for those damages (€385 for dent and €55 for scratch). This dent is barely visible (2mm wide) and the car never involved in any accident during out agreement, so it must be a pre-existing one(THE DENT ON CAR BODY) We've spent a moment to even find where it is. In fact - a behavior of both workers was rude. Also, this unexpected charge puts my financial situation in very inconvenient position right now. Obviously - we have been informed that if I will not sign the protocol of return - the whole amount from my credit card will not be released, so I didn't really have a choice. Once again, we feel cheated, because charging people for pre-existing damages (especially this big amount) is totally unacceptable behavior. Also, I would like to attach the photos describing the visual condition of the car in moment of pick-up and photo of this dent, which was almost impossible to even catch on a picture. read more

Rented a car, which was fine, in early June. Since our return, they have charged us $700+ on our credit card, and are continuing to charge us randomly. DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE. We're currently trying to get our credit card company to charge them with fraud, but these are thieves. read more

AVOID LOCAUTO AT ALL COSTS!!! After returing our car to Pisa airport after a week long rental without incident I was shocked to be told the follwoing day that a charge of 181 Euros had been made against my credit card relating to alledged damage. Despite repeated requests they have not sent me a damage report (which I need to claim back my insurance excess that I had protected), they have only stated that an alloy was damaged. When we picked up the car initailly we pointed out the scratch on the alloy and were told by the Locauto employee that alloy damage did not matter and made no report on it. I would totally recommend against using this company and if you do, thoroughly photograph the entire car yourself before you drive anywhere. read more

Watch out for Locauto. On November 6, 2015 we returned a rental car at Fiumicino Airport. Three months after returning the car a charge of $52.99 from Locauto appeared on our credit card statement. We called the credit card company and had the charge removed. A short time later six more charges, each for $52.99 appeared at the same time on our statement ( my wife monitors the statement almost daily). This time we called to cancel that card and have a new one issued. Clearly there is some fraudulent activity happening with this company. Also, after returning the car we did not receive any sort of receipt or statement that the car was returned with no damage. I questioned them about this and though I speak reasonable Italian it is difficult to have a discussion with the staff who seem indifferent to your questions. Next time I will take the advise of Rick Steves and rent from a well known and reputable American rental agency, in case there is any dispute over damage. Another warning unrelated to this company. My brother-in-law had his bank card number stolen when using a Bancomat in Fiumicino airport, and later found out that thieves have a way of inserting something into the machine to copy your number. Apparently they wait nearby and after you have used the machine they go and retrieve your number. A bunch of charges appeared on his statement the day after he arrived in Rome. Have not heard of this happening anywhere but at Fiumicino, though I really have no idea. read more

If I could give less than one star I would. Nov 2016, Venice Italy airport, had a pre-paid booking. Attendant told me that I had to pay for more insurance, it was Italian law, and unless I signed for insurance I couldn't have car. $225 later...still fighting with them and no luck. Others I talked to later on trip rented cars at Venice didn't have to buy insurance but they didn't use Enterprise/Locauto. Read reviews online...instances of scams and shady business practices all over. Enterprise should be ashamed to be associated with locauto. read more

Our car reservation clearly stated that the TIRE CHAINS - SPECIAL EQUIPMENT were INCLUDED in the rate. After returning the car in Rome, Italy and after several complaints, calls and emails to both the US office and the one in Italy, all refused to acknowledge that the snow chains were included in the rate and charged our card. EVEN WITH EVERYTHING IN WRITING. Pitiful company, deceitful, terrible business practice, customer service useless. Never again. Stay away. Liars. Thieves. read more

I rented from Locauto at Malpensa. They did not had the car we book, just Fiats. We returned the car 4 hours late due to traffic. Normally thats fine, as it was supposed to be coverd by that daily rate anyway. Locauto charges extra day after 59minutes late return. AND they will charge EVERYTHING they can think of on top of that. Our 4 hours extra came with 127 euros extra bill (daily rate was only 32 euros)! Avoid, Avoid, Avoid. I would prefer walk next time than use this rip-off company. read more

I am business manager for a US based technology company and I got a rental service from Locauto through Easycar company. I have been travelling all around the World for business and holiday purposes and I have rented several cars from several companies before including multinational and local ones. I have rented an Alfa Romeo from Bologna/Italy to drop back to Roma. Here are the experiences I faced in bullets with LocalAuto and Easy Car - Car at the delivery point was very dirty with full of disposal left in the car (I asked for cleaning but staff rejected me to do it) - I have noticed several small damages in the car and required staff at the delivery point to highlight it in the delivery paper. He barely took note all the damages although I insist. - After few hours of drive, while I was on the way to Roma the car warning light turned on, with a warning of "Service Required". The car service date was expired while I was driving. -The day I drop off the car, a Localauto staff with a very bad attitude, informed that there is a "new" damage on the left back mirror of the car. The damage was one of the small damages I have discussed with the staff in Bologna, but he insisted that is new and he has to charge extra cost. When I asked him to show me what he is seeing as an old damages in his IPAD Picture, on the picture; several new damages at the car was not there at all. Because I was running to catch my flight back home, I accepted him to charge 50 Euro (this was the amount he confirmed verbally). Then today I realized that the company charged 154.06 Euro. The damage story was very obsivously a setup to find a way to charge extra from, probably one time customer. Long story short, please stay away from this company, although their offer seems relatively attractive in the first place, I am 100% sure that they care finding a way to charge you extra cost Nedim read more

We paid for fuel upfront, then they tried to charge us again when we returned the car. The rude and incompetent lady at Cagliari would not accept we had paid even though we showed her the payment slip because her computer had the wrong information. She could not be reasoned with and she was incapable of rational thought. Highly unprofessional. Beware. read more

I would like to complain about a very bad experience we had with Locauto office at Malpensa airport in Milan on September 11th 2015. We arrived at night with our little baby and prepaid voucher (from a third-party online company). The rental terms were to present two international cards but unfortunately I had only one. The guy there was very rude and did not help us to find any solution. I offered my friend's two credit cards, my wife's card or even to downgrade the car but the guy just waved us away like we were wasting his time. He pointed us to another company to make the rent there although we begged him to find a solution. The car was still there waiting for us ! We were very tired, our baby was crying and we had to rent a car from another company to whom we paid twice the price (at least they were nice). We were greatly disappointed from the service and attitude. read more

The worst experience ever ! You reserve online and you pay a deposit. Then you come to their office at Milano Malpensa Airport and a lady at the front desk tells you that your card Mastercard is not valid ! :-D (Just for your information, I used this very same card for the reservation and they charged me 88,20 € - really strange, no ?! How come that if my card is invalid, they still manage to charge me ? I use this card every day and I prebooked all the hotels online with this card before my arrival to Italy) So what it means ? First of all, you cannot rent a car. When you ask them to reimburse you your deposit, they tell you that you have to contact the customer service - they cannot do anything for you on the spot. So you contact the customer service and they tell you that they can see in my file, that I reserved the car with an invalid card. At this moment, it does not matter what you tell. This lady at the front desk did a very good job and the company has a great policy how to steal money from the clients. So as I was still without a car, I went to "Sicily by car" and guess what - no problem ! They could use my card with any difficulties and I could leave with a nice Opel Corsa. read more

Do not use this company. Rented a black VW Golf in Rome for 2 weeks. All went well and we were v careful not to incur any marks. On return we were told there was a scratch on the rear bumper. This 'scratch' did not penetrate the paintwork and was virtually imperceptible, but you could feel a slight ridge when you ran your hand over it. It was nothing we could have reasonably noticed when inspecting the car on pick up. The person who examined the car went straight to the 'scratch' and seemed to know it was there. We asked for the manager and were told he was the manager and that if we appealed the charge we would have to pay more. We told him we did not agree that there was a scratch, and he said that signing did not mean we agreed, simply that we had both looked at the car. As we were catching a plane, we had no time to take the matter further. We were charged 90 euros and wonder how many other people had been charged the same amount to the same 'scratch'. Definitely felt this was a scam. read more

I rent cars often (at least monthly) and I wouldn't use this company again. I hired a car from Milan for a week. Drove it straight to the hotel, (Torbole in Garda) parked in the hotel garage for a week and then drove back to the airport. On returning the car the agent demonstrated that the key didn't work in the driver's door. I always check the car thoroughly and take photos before and after. I also check the fuel level before driving off. Their report said full but I got them to amend it to the real 3/4 full showing on the car's fuel gauge. Of course I never thought to check the key, the car had remote central locking. There's no damage to the driver's door or lock. I suspect this is an existing problem or a mechanical failure. They still insist I have to pay £199 to fix it. They refuse to provide evidence that it has actually been fixed. I have excess waiver insurance so the path of least resistance is to make a claim on that. But it smacks of a scam to me. read more

This company is shocking. I often rent cars in Cagliari, Sardinia when I visit relatives and have had bad experiences with all the vendors in the airport but LOCAUTO are the worst. They are basically scammers. They pretend to be all sweet and helpful but are really just trying to overcharge you for insurance that you don't need. I booked via ARGUS and paid the usual extra for excess insurance cover. However, when picking up the car they added a 30 euro per day charge which they said "was already included in what I had paid"?? they then upgraded the car saying that the one I ordered was not available but forgot to tell me that it would cost more. I am still trying to get my money back. Avoid LOCAUTO CAGLIARI at all costs. Go with a bigger company like Hertz. It will cost more upfront but will save you money long term. And if you do have to use them, DO NOT AGREE TO ANY ADDITIONAL INSURANCE OR UPGRADES without getting the price first. read more

We rented a car from Locauto in Rome, Ciampino airport. The worst experience ever. The lady called Georgia was the most unhelpful, unpolite and rude person ever. She didn't want to understand the problem (they don't accept debit cards and our credit card had not enought deposit money- they wouldn't want to take a deposit from two credit cards either). I asked her kindly to try to find a way to help us, so she said that we either pay more for the insurance or we won't get a car at all at 11:30 pm with two kids in a strange city. When we said that this is too much money she started to yell at us, throwing keys, calling us names in Italian, and would want to calm down. We had no other choice and had to pay more money for the car. When we were dropping off the car I complained about her to the manager and he said nothing... The worst experience I had ever had in my life. Nobody treated me as customer like that. Please do not rent a car from this company!!!!!! read more

bloody hell I can't tell you how much I wish I had read these posts and realised the depths to which these sods will stoop. we are just back from a holiday in Tuscany. we picked up our car from Pisa airport at about 10pm on our arrival on 29th august - we were shown our car by a man using a torch on an iphone so all we could really pick up (black car, dark night, irritated young kids) were any major dents. not ideal but what choice did we have but to accept the car in good faith? we had a problem with the windows steaming up excessively when we left and got little help (a bloke who said sorry I don't know why this is happening) and the only remedy was to drive the car with heating rather than aircon on - not an ideal situation when its pushing 30degrees outside) - however we endured this and dropped the car off after a lovely week in the middle of nowhere in Tuscany without hitch to be faced by an inspection that suspiciously went straight to a "scratch" running the length of the car low down - to be honest it was hard to even to see in the daylight (more of a mark than a scratch and definitely something that could have been t-cut out) so would have been absolutely impossible to see when we took the car in the dark. Naturally we disputed the damage and the practice of Locauto of having to hastily accept a car having only seen it with the aid of a "torch" on an iphone (we are 110% sure we did not do this) and suddenly the guy could not speak any English aside from the unhelpful comment "this is what you get when you take a flight at night" - REALLY? FFS? Anyway we refused to sign for the damage and I have today received an email to say that locauto have taken (wait for it) 1144.06 euros to cover the damage. We have been scammed and had beyond belief. Is it lawful to try to take the money from our credit card. We have explicitly disputed and not accepted liability. Can such transactions really be lawful? I can't tell you how angry and upset I am. These deceptive scamsters should not be allowed to trade. read more

I recently had a highly disappointing experience with LOCAUTO, which is deceptively operating under the guise of ENTERPRISE. This company is engaging in unethical practices and scamming customers by repeatedly charging for pre-existing scratches on their vehicles. Upon renting a car from LOCAUTO , I meticulously checked the vehicle for any damages and noted several minor scratches. However, despite my vigilance and thorough documentation, the company accused me of causing these damages upon return. It quickly became clear that this is a recurring scam they pull on unsuspecting customers. LOCAUTO Company is hiding behind the reputable name of ENTERPRISE, which makes their deceit even more reprehensible. They exploit the trust customers have in ENTERPRISE, only to hit them with unwarranted damage charges. This dishonest practice not only tarnishes their reputation but also casts a shadow on ENTERPRISE. I urge everyone to be extremely cautious when renting from this company. Always take detailed photos and videos of the vehicle before and after your rental period, and insist on having any existing damages documented in writing. Better yet, avoid this company altogether and choose a more transparent and trustworthy rental service. In conclusion, LOCAUTO is an absolute scam artist, preying on innocent customers by falsely charging for existing scratches on their cars. They deserve no business and should be held accountable for their fraudulent activities. Save yourself the headache and steer clear of LOCAUTO Company. read more

Absolutely the Worst Rental Experience - Avoid LocAuto at All Costs Renting from LocAuto was one of the most frustrating and disappointing travel experiences I've ever had. Despite returning the vehicle in the same condition I received it, I was later hit with an outrageous damage claim for a "seriously dented roof"--damage that was never visible, never discussed, and not even possible for me to inspect due to the height of the vehicle and lack of any return walk-through. There were no timestamped photos provided and the vehicle diagram they used was for a sedan, not the 9-passenger van I rented, leading to confusion about the actual damage location. To make matters worse, their own documentation referenced the rear trunk, not the roof. I pointed this out, along with multiple inconsistencies in their paperwork, but was met with cold, generic replies and zero accountability. Even damage previously noted on the vehicle was misrepresented as new. Their process is opaque, one-sided, and sets customers up to take the fall for issues they cannot verify or defend against--especially if you return the car after hours and use their key drop. I ended up paying a fine just to end the stress and threats of debt collection, even though I strongly disagreed with the claim. It felt like a blatant attempt to squeeze money out of customers post-rental using vague documentation and rigid policies. Never again. I strongly warn anyone considering LocAuto: choose a more reputable, transparent, and customer-oriented rental company. read more

I was refused to get a car from Locauto, Malpensa Airport, because my daughter, as driver, was short on reserve on her credit card. The company hold the huge amount of Euro 1.250 as security for damages or any other fantacies. Other daughter was refused, despite enough reserve on her card, and a valid drivers license. Tried to start from scratch with (other) daughter, but refused. Gave up after two and a half hour, and catched a train to Desenzano. Cartrawler, who is the resposible, surprisingly paid me back half my money. In this way, my loss is about 170 Euro. I now see that there was a great risk loosing the whole deposit of 1.250 Euro. Locauto's policy seems to be to grab as much as possible from the deposit, making up some excuses. This I found out from yelp, Facebook and googling. So I am really happy that we got no car - and limited my loss to 170 Euro. I have never seen a company getting so many harsh evaluations as Locauto AVOID THE COMPANY LOCAUTO. read more

Stay away from LOCAUTO car rental Company. They have lots of tricks. I have rented an economy car from Locauto two weeks ago. I picked up the car on time and return it back on time. Just 1- 2 km before I returned the car at Rome Fiumicino airport. I fulled the gas tank and received an invoice. Then I drove 1- 2 km to the car rental office. Sometimes, the pointer of the gas tank on the front panel reacts slowly. The pointer did not showed 'FULL' at the time of return. I told the boy working for Locauto that I had the receipt. He was insensible and rude. He did not accepted the receipt and told met hat I have to pay a fine. As I had two more hours of time, I drove back to the gas station. The man working at the gas station opened the hood of the car, disconnect the cable of the car battery and then reconnect the cable. The pointer began to reacted correctly. He told met hat this is a TRICK that some car rental companies do. read more

They gave me an older car with all sorts of little scrapes especially around the tires. i was in a rush with 2 small children so didnt think much since it was clearly stated in the check out report. Halfway through the trip, the maintenance required light came on. we managed to get back to the airport but were startled when attendant charged us 230 euro for tire damage. She then threatened to add more fees if i didnt acknowledge her report. I agreed with wear on tires since it was similar to checkout but didnt agree with charges at all. Unfortunately, it 's really hard to have a conversation in a foreign language in a dirty congested parking garage with 2 kids under 3 yrs. I'm trying to dispute with locauto, booking.com, and credit card so we'll see where this ends up. I now look at reviews and see a lot of similar stories:( read more

I had an excellent experience with Locauto Car Rental. From the moment I walked in, the staff was polite and welcoming. The establishment was clean, well-organized, and professional. Marco was incredibly patient, walking me through all the necessary documents and insurance options. As a traveler from the U.S. renting a car in Italy for the first time, this level of support was truly reassuring. Locauto offered a variety of rental options, and my car was spotless and fully fueled for my trip. When I returned the vehicle, both Marco and another team member provided quick and efficient service. They even helped call a cab for me while I charged my phone--a thoughtful gesture that made my experience even better. I can't recommend Locauto enough! I will definitely be renting from them again when I'm back in Sicily. read more

These people are crooks and bandits. We just paid over $370 in damages ($90 was a "management fee" because we refused to pay on site. We rented a car for twelve days and when we returned it, their agent got down on her hands and knees to find a scratch that would easily have been removed with some Armourall, on the plastic bumper guard. If I could post the pictures they would tell the entire story as to the lengths these crooks go through to stiff you with charges equal to 50% of the entire lease fee. The grand irony...we booked this through Expedia and they indicated that Alamo was to be our provider...instead, we got Robin Hood and his merry gang of thefts. Never, never rent from this company, you will be very, very sorry if you do. read more

DO NOT RENT from Locauto Rent or Enterprise when in Italy. They are thieves and scam artists. I read many different reviews about Locauto Rent fraudulently charging for many things. So I did not rent from them due to this. I went through Enterprise to be safe and Lo and Behold they sent me to pick up my car from Locauto Rent in Rome and I got charged an extra $300 in damages. There is no way to dispute this and Enterpise would not help out at all. Nobody would show me this "damage" they said that occurred and we took pics before and after of the car. There was no damage whatsoever and there was no way to get my money back since they had my card already charged. DO NOT rent from either of these places! Be warned!! read more

Extremely bad experience with this company! NEVER rent a car from Locauto! I did the mistake not to read the contract before renting my car during my holidays in Italy. I drove very carefully during all my trip but they claimed there is a new scratch on the car (not noticed at the check-in). After signing the inventory they told me they will charge me 429 e (including 81 euros of "administrative fees") for this!! Assuming I am responsible I want to make clear that the repairs of this certainly not worth this price. I was really disappointed by my experience with Locauto. I prepaid for a 4-day rental, trusting the positive reviews. But when my Volotea flight was suddenly cancelled due to technical issues, I had no way to pick up the car on time. I called the same day, explained everything, and asked if I could collect the car the next day or get a refund. They flatly refused, hiding behind their policy--even though the situation was completely out of my control. In the end, they kept all my money and rented the car to someone else. It felt deeply unfair and unacceptable. read more

My creditcard allowed a €1200 deposit. They refused to take the other €100 from another card, cash or debitcard. They refused to change the name in the booking so that it could go on another creditcard. We rented a car from Locauto at Catania airport in May 2024. I must admit I was very scared to do this after reading the reviews on this website, and promised myself to write a positive review if everything went smoothly - and it did! The pick-up and drop-off process was seamless, there were no hidden or late charges (which was a relief after the comments I read), and the team was highly professional and helpful. I booked through Booking.com, and the process was straightforward. Based on my experience I would recommend it! read more

It seemed everything was ok, until after a few months. First they charged for more 1 day (around 100€, since it's the standard price) because we arrived 1 hour later, but nobody said nothing when we returned the vehicle... Then they started to charge almost 50€ for what was supposed to be traffic fines, which I never had none during the stay in Italy, neither received at home any.
