Our stay at this Agnone B&B couldn't have been more charming. We stayed in a large guest room with stone walls, a fireplace and a private bath at a very reasonable rate that included a traditional Italian breakfast and the use of the kitchen for the length of our stay. This ancient inn was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated with objects of art.
Our host and hostess, Pasquale and Rosita, spoke English and gladly offered us guidance and advice on restaurants and local sites. The recommended short walk to the Belevedere park was well worth it for the beautiful views overlooking the valley. We particularly enjoyed the visit and fascinating tour of the Marinelli Bell Foundry, "Pontificia Fonderia Marinelli" which has been making bells for the last thousand years and is the official bell foundry for the Vatican. It is the oldest family run business in Italy and their bells are in churches the world over.
The personal touch that we were offered really made our stay special. They even put us in touch with the local genealogist at the Bibliotece who helped us determine if our ancestors were born in the town.
I highly recommend Locanda La Campana if you are planning a stay in Agnone. You won't be disappointed. read more
