This review is unique - because Karl contacted us a day before our charter and apologetically informed us that the harbor motor on the Mahiya was under repair and the boat could not leave its mooring. While offering us other charter options - Karl also offered use of his harbor dinghy to Lime Out and drinks and time chilling on the Mahiya. We choose this option and it was time very well spent. After an incredible lunch at Lime Out - Karl taught my boys sailing knots, discussed the devastations of the 2017 hurricanes and his conservation work on the islands. Besides that i would probably give 2 stars because of customer service. But I'll give 3 to even it out. I booked the Salt Deck months in advance for a birthday celebration. I looked at many other charters but I liked this boat since it was different. The night before 8pm, I get a call saying we are being switched to a different boat since there are just 2 us of. I wasn't really sure what to say since it didn't seem there was a choice. The next day we arrive and it is a regular boat and it was explained it was better for us since we could go out farther. I honestly was very upset with the last minute change. It was less expensive but that was not the experience I had expected or booked so for in advance. We ended up seeing a larger group on the boat I booked in advanced and I figured they just got paid more for a bigger group. To be honest I was very unhappy about it. That being said we did have a great time regardless. Thanks to our captain she was wonderful so the rating is for her. 2 stars for the business though.

We knew we wanted to take an excursion from St. John and luckily, our resort (Ritz Carlton Club) was able to find us the perfect trip with Chris. We departed our hotel (with our own drinks and snacks), coolers, towels, diving/snorkel gear were provided. Chris also coordinated going through customs at British Virgin Islands, our first stop were the Baths. It was an amazing ride with the beautiful waters, scenic shorelines, and awesome captain. Chris is not only a skilled captain but a great tour guide having grown up and spending a lot of time in this region. He pointed out the top beaches and a lot of other landmarks along the way. We spent time navigating through the Baths (I suggest water shoes as the ground was fairly hot and some of the rocks, nooks, and tunnels you have to go through are pretty challenging for the some of us. We touched many of the other islands like Tortola, Virgin Gorda, and had lunch at the Soggy Dollar with Chris. Chris is personable, professional, and has a 'good seaside manner'--very skilled at the helm. Loved this trip, Chris and Local Legend made it one of our most memorable travels.

Tell me why the day before the event in Tortola I from the departure was be at 5:30 PM instead of 7 PM I booked no problem ended up leaving St. Thomas to go to Tortola. Departure time 5:30 when these people did not arrive until almost 6 PM to check in., checking in with a little confusing, anyways, we ended up departing on our way arrived BVI and was asked to present our passport and the form that we filled out departure time where I booked was supposed to be 3 AM from Tortola back to St. Thomas, why did the person who worked on the boat? change the time seconds after passport in form was presented saying that we have to be back on the dock by 5 AM instead of 3 AM bear in did not get back to St. Thomas Virgin Islands until 8:30 in the morning, so they dropped us off in Tortola BVI and did not up to their bargain. We were all stranded, cold and hungry. If I were you, I would never book with this company.
