Which made it really affordable for me. I know it's something small but I really like how they use these sponges in your mouth for x rays. It makes the experience so much more comfortable. When you get in the seat for cleaning you are offered glasses for the light. They also always have something on tv for you while you're getting cleaned. All in all a great experience!

I went to a dentist occassionally, but there is no better place than Smiles of Bulverde. Dr. Malagayo and her assistants made sure I was comfortable during my procedures. I was in no pain. I have always heard bad things about a root canal. It was a breeze. All the staff make you feel so welcome the minute you walk in the door. I highly recommend this office.

Dr. Alvarez is absolutely exceptional at what she does. I spent nearly seven years researching…read moreveneers before finally making my decision. During that time, I consulted with at least four different cosmetic dentists to discuss the process, cost, and expected results. I even created a PowerPoint with examples of veneers I loved, veneers I didn't, and detailed notes describing exactly how I wanted my smile to look. When I shared everything with Dr. Alvarez, she confidently told me that I'd love the result. She absolutely delivered. I had veneers placed on my top ten teeth, and I genuinely could not be happier with the outcome. Not only do they look exactly as I envisioned, but what impressed me even more was the attention paid to their functionality. Dr. Alvarez preserved far more of my natural tooth structure than I expected, and she carefully inspected my bite to ensure everything fit. She refused to let me leave until my bite felt natural and comfortable, ensuring I could use my teeth properly without jaw pain or unnecessary strain. The level of excellence and attention to detail at this practice is truly unmatched. If you're considering cosmetic dentistry, this office is worth every penny. Dr. Alvarez, you have changed my life in ways you may never fully realize. My smile was my greatest insecurity for years, and now it is my favorite feature. The confidence you've given me has impacted every part of my life, and I will always be grateful for your incredible talent, care, and dedication. Arden, you were also amazing throughout the entire experience. You answered every question I had, always made me feel at ease, and consistently went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable. She is, without question, one of the most knowledgeable and capable dental assistants I've ever met. Thank you for making this experience so positive from beginning to end. The rest of the team was just as incredible. They just knew my face when I walked in the door - as if I spent every day there. This is a level of excellence you cannot find anywhere else. Thank you all so, so much. Words cannot express my gratitude

I had been living for almost two years with a very small chip on a front tooth from biting on a…read moreforeign body lurking in some restaurant food. Two other dentists were pessimistic about their ability to fix it with bonding, without substantial removal of tooth structure. As I am blessed with overall healthy and pretty teeth, I resigned myself to just live with it. While it was barely noticeable to others, it was a substantial source of frustrating, near-constant physical discomfort for me. After moving to San Antonio, I wondered if this practice could help me out. Dr. Beckel saw me for what I assumed would be just a preliminary consultation, and he convinced me to let him fix it right then and there! I got the sense he could tell it had really been bugging me a while, and wanted to make it better. I felt his communication was good and his bedside manner really excellent. He gave the problem a lot of thought personalized to my specific case, and was optimistic--but realistic--about his ability to fix it with as microscopically minimal enamel removal as possible. After just a few minutes, I got handed a mirror and was stunned to see a tooth that looked genuinely as good as new. It was actually a bit shocking, in a good way. I am truly amazed by the appearance of this bonding. I feel that not only was the natural look of my teeth fully appreciated, but the complex manner in which light moves through the thin edges of my enamel, creating a range of shades, is continued seamlessly throughout the restoration. I was fully expecting to see some kind of subtle boundary or shading difference there, but it actually looks perfect. This must have taken a high level of skill and a profound understanding of dental aesthetics. Of course, the next test will be to see how it holds up long-term. Overall, I came in with what I understand to be a fairly challenging request. I was met with enthusiasm, consideration, and compassion.

As a new customer I made an appointment to have an initial check up, got there on the day of my appointment and checked in, couple minutes later a different receptionist asked if I've been helped and I replied yes I was checked in. Then was asked my name, then told, " your phone isn't working!" I said excuse me yes it is. Receptionist said well I tried calling to tell you your appointment has been moved cause they were falling behind. I asked what number they had and it was wrong. So rescheduled for 2 weeks out, again checked in and was told I'd need to wait cause they were behind. I mean no sorry for the first rude comment the first time and now no apology this second time around. I didn't need an apology but the professionalism wasn't there. I mean the insinuation that this was my fault felt very disrespectful. If not for the amazing Doctor and hygienist I wouldn't come back, but they were great. The establishment itself is very clean and Dr. Garza is awesome.

They refused to see my mother in person at the office on December 31st because it was "the last day…read moreof her coverage," despite us having provided her insurance information days in advance when the appointment was booked. She drove over 30 miles from New Braunfels for a confirmed visit. Insurance is billed based on the date services are rendered, not on coverage status applied retroactively at check-in. The explanation offered makes little sense. Coverage ending that day does not prevent a provider from seeing a patient, nor should it invalidate a scheduled appointment. As an in-network provider, refusing covered services at check-in and tying care to coverage timing rather than date of service raises serious concerns about insurance billing irregularities and eligibility misrepresentation, or at minimum a fundamental misunderstanding of standard insurance billing practices. Compounding the issue, the phone number listed does not reach the office. Calls are routed to an outsourced scheduling call center that is disconnected from the actual front desk and billing staff, leaving no escalation path and no way to reach anyone with authority to resolve the issue. This lack of accountability is especially problematic for a patient with limited English proficiency. When basic principles of insurance billing appear to be ignored, experiences like this suggest one of three things: gross incompetence, a willingness to mislead patients, or potentially improper insurance billing practices. None of those inspire confidence in a medical provider, and prospective patients should be aware of how this practice handles scheduled care.

I appreciate her professionalism, have built a rapport with her and that she's not excessively chatty. She's given me tips over the years and I know I'm in good hands when I'm being attended by her. I get disappointed if she isn't available. I had X-rays today and those bite-wing things can be overwhelming in the mouth so I just focused because at one point I almost threw up for some reason when it was towards the back of my mouth but I held it together. Luckily it's only once a year. Everything was straightforward and afterwards, Dr. Ruiz examined my mouth, scraped a little and I asked her about getting a new, thinner Mouthguard that will act like a Retainer. At first she mentioned one product that was for my upper and lower teeth but I told her I didn't have braces on my lower teeth so she thought about it and decided to have me try something else. I ended up ordering an Essix Retainer that's thicker than a regular Invisalign Retainer which is more flimsy so it acts like a Night Guard. I was able to get an iTero mouth/teeth 3D scan at the beginning of my appointment so I was able to skip an appointment and just come for the fitting later this month. The 3D scan is a new and free procedure that tracks changes in your mouth/teeth for future reference. Dr. Ruiz was very nice in our brief visit. My regular dentist is currently on Maternity Leave. As always, I leave with extra sample toothpaste, toothbrush and floss. The office has a Keurig machine, chips tray and bottled water in a small fridge and an Air Purifier out in the waiting room.

My issue is with the corporate nature of a healthcare business where nobody who is there has any control over the actual patient experience. Instead, corporate overlords design and furnish with a primary goal toward cost savings. This is obvious by the chair. I have gone to half a century of dental visits all over the world and I have never experienced such a miserably uncomfortable dental chair. It is not adjustable for comfort, barely has an armrest, which is poorly positioned, and was clearly purchased by corporate overlords because it was cheapest, not in order to optimize the experience of the patient. I have mentioned it to the staff on multiple visits and they just apologize. Clearly the furnishings are just provided by the employer. And clearly the employer's main concern is making money, not making the patients comfortable.
