I was so excited when this store first opened. It looked like it had everything I need to bake a…read morecake.... until I realised that my kitchen didn't have a proper oven.. Nonetheless, I came into this store just to look around to see if there's anything interesting. Indeed it was, it was filled with baking accessories, goods, and basically everything you could imagine to bake a cake. Although I didn't have an oven at home, i still miss baking. So knowing that they host baking classes here, my friends and I signed up. A group of us came, i think it costed us about $300 for a class. We chose the macaron class. I have joined these classes before but found that a majority of the time, all the ingredients would already have been prepared and in the end you didn't learn anything at all. This class started on time, there were about 12 of us, which is a little packed and there were some late comers as well. We each had our own area to bake and the teacher started to teach us how to make macarons. From my experience, the teacher was not very patient. He got frustrated at some of the students who did things wrong. Not everyone is a master baker. I think he should realise that. It kinda put us off a little bit. Regardless, at least the macarons turned out nicely. I haven't been back since, maybe because I was a little intimidated by the teacher or perhaps I just got really busy. It's a cool experience, at least with this macaron class, we actually got to measure out everything and did it as if we were baking at home. props to that.

Hidden shopping bargains…read more.. My very first experience with the famous bargain shopping was at Stanley Market on Hong Kong Island. Unless you know you just don't know as it's located about 3 to five minutes walk from the back side of Stanley Plaza along side Stanley Promenade. There are signs to guide the way though it's all about knowing where you going which I absolutely didn't but luckily we had friend Andrew and Cindy who knew that parking at the mall is not just a great convenience and makes it an easy place to rest and take in the stunning view it has to offer. Lots of various merchants from the usual souvenirs, clothing and toys but a few snacks and food vendors as well though it was some bags that did catch my eye and did work a small bargain which was not just fun but felt great as well. Bargaining isn't as easy especially when the prices are great you need to be mindful not to go too low but a reasonable rate like I didn't do so well when I found a plug converter knowing later that I paid way too much for it but was just so happy to find one as Hong Kong is definitely different and was very much needed but I'd like to think that I supported local. Shopping in Hong Kong…read more.. Our friend, Andrew, parked at Stanley Plaza and showed us Stanley Market. We walked there, along the promenade and found the entrance to the market. There are a lot of vendors here! Merchandise includes luggage, leather bags, footwear, plushies, clothing, tote bags, toys, snacks, souvenirs such as keychains and magnets, etc. Some bargaining was done... especially since we had cash and bought in quantity. The Mills was an escape from the giant centers with name brand stores. This place was transformed from what was the old textile factory. It even has a textile museum that's free of charge! However, it is a bit hard to find but it's definitely a must see if you visit this place. We also loved the play space on the 4th floor which charges by the hour. The place was pretty empty on a Thursday which was a nice escape from the crowds. Only downside is there weren't a lot of shops to walk through.

Formerly a textile factory, the Mills is no other and houses many little cute shops, galleries, and I believe a museum/exhibition type place. It was about a 20 min walk from the MTR. I loved the overall vibes and aesthetics (aka great for cute pics) but the stores were definitely a little pricer. It definitely reminded me of PMQ or the newer Central Market but felt that the signs were not as clear than the others. Would recommend if you are into arts, looking for a specific gift for someone, or just exploring new places to go!

Like everyone said, this street is where the East meets West; it is definitely more luxurious, with many high end shops and restaurants, after a controversial redevelopment by the government since 2003. I was hoping to see the signature rows of red lanterns on this street, but they took it down for the winter holiday, and it's all Christmas decor right now! This street is usually filled with excitement; many come here to take selfies with the decor, and to check out the many restaurants and shops. There is Japanese ramen, Chinese noodles, French cuisine, egg tarts, coffee shops, and many more! Connecting to the MTR station right underneath Lee Tung Avenue, you will also find an underground pathway with a grocery store, and plenty of local shops for beauty, jewellery and baked goods!
