I hate to do this. But, it is what it is. I have been going to LocStar, faithfully, since I started my locs in January.
I have a few small issues, that I've tried to overlook, because I try to support Black businesses. I love the overall concept of the salon, but the carry out is lacking. To be clear, I've never had a problem with any of the employees. They have been nice to me. I've even referred friends to the sal
Here are my issues:
1. You make appointments online, and choose WHO you want to do your hair. I'd only like a two people doing my hair. One as my regular, and possibly, another as my backup. Since going here, I've had approximately 8 different people doing my hair. I don't understand why they give you the option of choosing your stylist, if that's not whose going to do your hair. I could be wrong. But, I believe it's because they take walk-ins between appointments, and your stylist could end up doing someone else's hair.
2. I usually schedule my appointments at least three to six weeks in advance. One particular day, I was scheduled for a 10:30, which was scheduled 3 weeks in advance, and I received a text message letting me know that my appointment had CHANGED to 10:00. No one called me to see if I was available at that time or anything. Mind you, if I would've gotten there late, or on time according to my SCHEDULED appointment, I probably would've been charged extra.
3. Most recently, I tried to book an appointment online, for the end of July. I already has scheduled the appointment, but I canceled it, in order to reschedule closer to my bday photo shoot. The booking system kept asking for my credit card info. So, I put in one of my prepaid cards, as I didn't want to put in my debit card info. It kept saying declined. I know I had money on there. But, that was besides the point. This appointment was at least 5 weeks out. The next day, I called and asked if they could enter my appointment manually. I explained the situation with the credit card, and that I'd cancelled a couple of appointments, due to my birthday coming up. I was informed that they were doing system maintenance, and that they couldn't put in my appointment manually. I was assured that I could put in my credit card info, and that I wouldn't be charged; it was just to "hold" my appointment. I've been making appointments since January, and I've never had to enter CC info. I took her word for it, and put in my card info. Instantly, I received a text from my bank for a charge of $115. I've called the shop, numerous times, and left messages also. On Friday, I was told by the owner that she'd see what she could do about my refund, and she'd call me by the end of the day. She also informed me, that if she issued my refund, she'd have to cancel my appointment. Why? My appointment isn't until July 24th. Needless to say, I haven't heard from them. I'm so disappointed. read more
