I'd recommend getting there a little early, due to a good amount of pets that come, as it is first come first serve so I suggest coming a little early. Otherwise, the process takes a little less than a few hours and totally worth it!

The…read moreadoption center is associated with the main location in Wilmington, DE, but doesn't have a Yelp specific page. My daughter and I visited this location to look at the dogs and cats. We have plans to adoption another dog possibly if we can find the right personality. Plus coming from a animal sheltering background of 20+ years, I cannot pass up an opportunity to visit any animal shelter. The lady working at the front desk - Kimberly D. was so kind and super friendly! She was so nice to my daughter who loves cats and wants to volunteer at a shelter when she is old enough. The lady showed us the cat room and talked to Giana about ways she can help animal shelters even though she isn't old enough to actually volunteer at a shelter. She told us how other kids would ask for animal supplies as birthday gifts instead of the usual gift for themselves. She showed us the dog areas where we got to see the dogs. Overall, our experience was the highlight of the day and I am truly grateful for Kimberly's kindness and enthusiasm for the work that she does. I'm sure she made an impact on my daughter as well!!!

Run as fast as you can from Darlene at Fur Ever Paws. I inquired about a dog that she had named…read moreAbby. She arrived a week ago I was told. I was told that she was 2 years old and very timid and shy. I scheduled an appointment to see her this morning. When we arrived, we were taken into the garage for a visit. All of the facts that were listed on Abby's profile were false. Starting with her age, reaction to new people, owner experience, potty trained and good with children. None of these were true. See attached photos. The minute she put Abby into our arms she immediately said she has bad teeth and that she is more likely 4 or 5 years old. Abby appeared to be used solely for breeding. She was scared to death if you touched her. She seemed to be completely out. Behind her big brown eyes, there was nothing. Abby will need a special caregiver who can help her overcome the horrific life she had lived. I am sure Abby is older than 4 or 5 years. Darlene said her teats were still swollen and that she most likely just had a liter. We inquired about testing that has been done such as heart worms, lymes, etc. Darlene said they don't do those tests. She never asked any questions to qualify us. We were not asked to fill out an application either. The only thing that seemed to matter was that we were willing to pay. We inquired about her eye weeping and she that breed of dog eyes weep. When we told Darlene that we needed to talk it over she grabbed her phone and said she would let the next people in line know. She had told me there were three other people interested in Abby. I asked her if Abby was in the house with her and her family dogs and she said no that she could not let these dogs run free in her house. These dogs are not being fostered they are being kept in crates. Darlene stated that herself. I asked her if she was potty training her and she said no she uses pee pads. The adoption fee was $600.00. Adoption fee is shown to include heart worm tests on 6 months or older however Darlene said this was not done. According to the website they get dogs in every week from a no kill shelter. I felt like the entire 25 minutes we were there it was like a used car salesman trying to sell us on the little dog. We were very sad to leave her. We cried on the way home. Hopefully the right person comes along to help her overcome the trauma she has experienced. p.s. when we got home we looked Abby up again and Darlene had changed her date of birth from 2022 to 2020. (see attached photos as proof) They have a strict no refund policy-see their website. Please Note: Our Refunds and Return policy has changed recently. You can find out more by clicking the link below for further information but you should be aware that We have a strict NO REFUND policy. Please see our Refund and Returns Policy - Fur-Ever Paws here. Look for a reputable rescue. I don't believe in my heart this rescue cares about the dogs and its all about the money.

We adopted our kitty Savanna from FF a month ago. It was a smooth process -- we went in on a Friday…read moreduring adoption hours to meet the cats. We chose Savanna, a 3 year old shorthair tabby, and filled out an application. We were told someone else had applied for her, but they allowed us to put another cat we also really liked just in case. On Tuesday (3 business days) they called and said we'd been approved for Savanna. I went in the next day with my new cat carrier, signed the forms, and brought her home, along with a couple days worth of food, some treats, and toys. We also got a free physical at the FF vet clinic, which I took advantage of. There is no home visit for cats. They ask a few questions, such as do you own or rent and are pets allowed where you live, do you have kids, allergies, etc. You have to agree not to declaw, but there are some declawed rescues who need homes. They highly recommend you keep your cat indoors. Adoption for an adult cat in Jan '17 was $45 and included spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, deworming, flea treatment, tests for the major feline diseases, and a microchip. The spay/neuter alone would cost more than the adoption fee by itself, so it's a great deal, but more importantly, your previously homeless cat (or dog) gets to be a part of your family. One month, and I already can't imagine life without Savanna!

Made a appointment with Faithful friends to do a small Mass removal on my small dog. I dropped her…read moreoff when I went back to pick her up at 4:00. The vet that worked on her came out and told me after he closed her up the first time she was still bleeding real bad. He had to go back in and put her to sleep and open her up the second time. So I had to sit and wait an extra hour for her to wake up off the anesthesia. When they brought her out to me they had her in some kind of suit. The lady was carrying her and she said it was a space suit. She said she would carry her to my truck and they had raped her and she told me to take the bandages off. When I got home that night I took the bandages off. I couldn't believe my eyes. I never seen anything so bad in my whole life. She was so swollen and bruised in between. Her two back legs was so swelled. They look like giant blood blisters. They gave me enough meds for 7 days and and said rest. I stayed with her in my bedroom around the clock and kept icing her down. When I called and said how swelled she was that's what they told me to do after a week and a half bleeding had never stopped. It wasn't real bad thick drops but steady and then it got a little worse and he told me to put a Band-Aid on her so I was using big band needs. Every time I took one off it was so filled with blood. I couldn't believe it. So I took. I called and said she was in pain and I need it more medicine. I'm still thinking well. Some swelling went down and don't look as bad. I was praying she'd be okay. They told me I would have to bring her in to get the medicine so I did why there? I told him bleeding never stop. Is she bled on their floor where I was sittinI told the lady at the receptionist she went and got a mop and mopped it up. They gave me more meds and told me the same thing. Rest and I left within 21 days from surgery to the day she bled out and died in my arms. I left another review. It would be the first review and I put pictures with it but it looked like things were changed around and it was set so I added it and I'm rewriting it now. I don't know if They'll let me post pictures to show you how bad it was. I called there said I would like to talk to the vet that did the mass removal on my dog. She passed away and they said they were so sorry and they would have him call me a week. Maybe a little over a week later. He called. I told him you went in twice. You had to do something wrong the first time for her to bleed like that for you to go back in the second time. He called me delusional and asked me can I prove it? I got pictures of before I brought her there and look great and I got pictures when they were done with her she looked so bad he had to know something was wrong for him to opened her up twice. He just prolonged her death. She suffered for 21 days before her passing. He told me the second time he went in. He tied everything off and she'd be okay. Just rest and medicine from surgery to the day she passed was exactly 21 days. I googled it about if a vet opens the dog up twice and it told me that yes that's not good. I experience that should know better and if she died within 21 days that's why she died because she was opened up twice. If you would have just told me the first time before he opened her up the second time because everybody makes a mistake that he hits something and couldn't stop the bleeding and had to know she was going to pass away. He just let her suffer. I would have just had her put down so she didn't suffer. I am very hurt that he has denied anything to do with her passing. I'm very mad. He opened her up twice. Never asked me. Could he go back in twice or did I want him to go back in? He just did it on his own. I lost my best friend my companion. She was all I had. She went everywhere with me and did everything together. She is very missed. I'm lost . and he still hasn't taken responsibility for what happened to her. I believe he's mean and selfish and knowing she was going to pass and he let her suffer for the 21 days. All I've done is cry. I can't believe I took her for a small Mass removal to make sure she was okay and I was so happy to go get her and then he came out and told me he had it open her twice and when I took her him and seen her it was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life. I had to watch my dog suffer for 21 days. Why he was in denial until her death? Dr Quin did the surgery I'm not from PA in from Newcastle Delaware.

I had heard and read about Lamancha and was expecting a great experience there. It was at first…read morebut I soon discovered it was not a good experience. I feel that it was expected of me to adopt no matter what & fast. I was also treated like I was inept of walking a dog, telling me don't go here, don't go there, watch this, and that and was told twice about putting the walking rope ring on my wrist I am not a 2 yr old and I have had dogs I realize they have a job to do and are watching out fo the welfare of the dogs But such a big turn off and took the joy out of my day I walked away without a dog and I could see and feel a complete annoyance that I didn't adopt She was trying to make me feel guilty by telling me that the dogs i was interested in would be a good dog for me First of all she doesn't know me, 2nd she wasn't hardly around to see how it was going She showed no empathy at all when she seen how upset I was. If her and the other one showed more heart for potential adopters then maybe more dogs would get adopted there. She also told me how the adoptions were low and that people come and walk away without adopting Well change your attitude and maybe you will get more adoptions Don't guilt trip people with that I don't take adopting lightly, I want to be sure the pup is a good match for me and vice versa So their whole demeaner changed as soon as I decided not to adopt I guess i was taking too long to decide, well too bad And Jeff I heard your comment when i was having trouble with the rope leash(not really a leash) saying "she doesn't know how to put it on??" I figured it out without your help and I noticed your disgusted look at me! If things and circumstances there are making you feel unhappy there then maybe its time to quit and find something else to do with your time. I did talk to some really nice volunteers there This in no way a reflection on you!

I updated my review to add more details and pictures. Last week, we met an adorable dog named Bob…read morewho was being fostered. Bob seemed like the perfect fit for us, but we had some concerns about his health. His tail appeared to be broken and he had a growth on his back leg. His foster mom told us that he is bothered when his tail is touched (it was clearly kinked/broken). Just to be clear, we could CARE LESS that it was broken as long as he wasn't in pain. We also also noticed a small mole/growth on this rear leg. We reached out to the rescue to inquire about whether their vet would address these issues or if potential adopters would be responsible. The next day, we were told that Bob had a tear from a previous surgery that was being looked at by the vet and owner Pam. This came as a surprise to us, as there was no mention of any surgery when we met him. After a few days of trying to follow up on Bob's condition and express interest in meeting another dog, the rescue abruptly stopped communicating with us (previously very responsive). We even reached out via social media and text messaged Pam the owner, but received no response. It came to surprise that NOBODY wanted to give us an update.. It was very odd... Concerned by this lack of transparency, we did some research online and found many alarming/negative reviews about the rescue on Yelp. We had been eager to adopt or foster a dog from Hindes, but the lack of communication and not addressing questions really made us think twice about adopting from this rescue. Bob's foster has a beautiful home and Bob seems to be very happy with her and her family (and their dog). I don't think she had anything to do with this at all. I think this is the rescue got startled because I'm inquiring about his health (another negative signal) . All they had to do was communicate- it truly wasn't a hard ask. We truly hope Bob finds a wonderful home and am very saddened by this outcome.
