The first floor has a great open feeling with the help of large shop-style windows. Their breakfast is decent. I had the Small Breakfast, which is one fried egg, one medium-sized sausage link, large strip of bacon and two triangle hash browns. It seemed a hardy meal for the name, and turned out to be perfect to have just before heading out to tackle the ancient Parciau Hill Fort, which is over on Isle of Angelsey. Decent coffee. Soy milk available. Great dessert. Solid free Wi-Fi. Bright, cheery atmosphere with people coming and going and congregating or meditating quietly by themselves. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful. They have many private toilets and a shower upstairs on the second floor, as well as an extensive map room with maps from all over the world filed away in flat files drawers. I understand Pete's Eats has sleeping quarters, too, with bunk beds mainly, some private quarters. On the main floor they have a small sharing library between both dining rooms.

Situated on the High Street in Llanberis it's incredibly popular with mountain walkers, climbers and cyclists alike who visit the National Park. It's a deep and highly extraordinary shade of blue so you can't and shouldn't miss this incredible slab of a building. I've been visiting the place for twenty years and for most of that time it didn't seem to change at all: two spacious and well lit rooms with plenty of tables were surrounded with walls adorned by mesmerising photos of people (presumably customers, friends and family?) revelling in a dazzling array of outdoor pursuits, the majority of which focus on people balanced precariously on ridges, cliffs and daunting overhangs. But in recent years there have been many changes afoot at Pete's Eats. A back room has opened out on the ground floor with more seating for diners, giving the whole cafe an organic, sprawling feel. Not only do I now have trouble deciding what to choose from the extensive menu, I take just as much time deciding where to sit. Upstairs Pete's Eats continues on several floors, expanding its ambit to include internet facilities, a map room and library, shower rooms, toilets and the bunkhouse sleeping quarters - see website for booking details. After a good day walking in the mountains there is nothing better than refuelling at Pete's Eats. The menu runs from snacks such as chip butties, baked potatos, toasted and ordinary sandwiches and soups to the legendarily mighty all day breakfasts and astonishingly large mixed grills. Vegetarians are well catered for in the all day veggie breakfast section, which is always good to see. The menu then moves on to main courses such as lasagne, pies, tarts and other bakes, before extending its formidable reach towards curries. Again, vegetarians are well looked after with an assortment of options. Cakes and puddings close the menu. There are three remarkable things about Pete's Eats which deserve a mention to the uninitiated: i) pint mugs of tea bearing various Pete's Eats logos (the mugs themselves are also available to buy), ii) the enormously generous, overflowing portions iii) incredibly low prices - approx. £5 for the enormous mixed grill with chips. As we sat there chewing my partner commented that the black and white photo above the entrance to one of the ground floor rooms must be Pete himself, as it depicted a man in chef's gear brandishing a large knife outside the place. I headed to the counter to buy a couple of their cauldron-esque mugs and realised I was being served by the man himself. I commented on the fact that I'd been visiting the place for years and how great it was. He smiled and said that in thirty years it might not have made him a rich man, but it had indeed made him very happy. Seemed to me that the people on my side of the counter felt the same.

This isnt just any old Truckers Cafe it also attracts Familys and local's for a good selection of hearty home cooked, great british Grub. Not only are the breakfasts well worth a try (be warned they are belly busters!) they also do a Fantastic Roast Dinner, which also comes with Chips if your extra hungry! It's all homemade, nothing out of the packet, the Gravy is like your mum makes and the Chips are good old fashioned cut potatoes and not frozen. The Decor isnt fancy or anything to shout home about, but with food as good as this it doesnt need to be its just big bulky tables and an assortment of odd chairs but it works! For Truckers its ideal, they have Shower facilities on site and a Huge Car Park and right next to a petrol station so you have everything you need for an overnight stay. Try it, you wont be dissapointed. Such great Value and Mega Size portions that'll make you want to go back every time you pass!

On the menu is everything from all day breakfasts to full roast dinners, of which there is a different one each day. There are usually two or three other mains and several old fashioned puddings. We have a toasted sandwich each time we visit, delicious and fast. The only down-side is their coffee. It is obviously instant and possibly poor quality but the food is fantastic.

The café is adorable, nice and clean. The service was great and our waitress was excellent. She was quick and super friendly, and she gaves us tips on which dishes were best. The food is healthy, local and delicious. I had the haloumi salad with bulgur, and the latte I ordered was delicious too. The cakes looked amazing, but I was too full to try them. The atmosphere was great, with locals doing some arts projects in the corner and beautiful photos of climbs on the wall. The view is also very nice and if you bring your kids, they provide colouring books and babiccinos. Wifi included! Highly recommended!

I was introduced to Black Pudding, an acquired taste for even the English- pigs blood and intestines mashed into a hockey puck. I have nothing to compare it to but a taste of it was good for me. It was crispy, soft like pudding and a bit sweet. I opted for the tuna panini which was terrific. I read it came with chips which I figured were fries but got actual potato chips which was fine I guess. Michael said his All Day Breakfast was spot on except for the sausage which he described as cheap or watery. The other lads said there's were fine and devoured it spite being hung over. Before breakfast I asked to walk past the gates to witness the sprawling fields. I was welcomed with a bit of apprehension and took a few photos as you may see. Apparently no one asks to go back into the farm. I breathed in the cool air and appreciated the beauty of the English horizon. I was met by the owner, Bill Williams, in a tractor who stopped me to have a bit of a chat. He is a funny man when he said the view was "alright" and there wasn't much to see. I learned the farm was 400 acres and how he had a kick travelling the California coast line several years ago. When I return to Chester I will be sure to come back and eat here and say hello.

Swn Y Mor is an excellent place to stop for a meal during the day…read more Two sisters from Northamptonshire, England, run this cafe, and one of them is an excellent chef, baker behind this great find just down the hill from Criccieth Castle. I wasn't ready for a full meal, but opted for what turned out to be probably the best dessert I've had since arriving in the United Kingdom a week prior. I ordered the berry and apple pie and one of the sisters recommended adding a hot creamy custard over the top. It was pure heaven along with a pot of traditional tea. They make all of their desserts from scratch, and make them with pride and great skill and elegance. This place is definitely a slice of heaven on earth, and a place not to overlook if you find yourself in the area.

The Marram Grass has a fair amount of outside seating and the entrance to the cafe has a well established grape vine growing over the top of it. Inside there are a variety of tables, from round social tables, to booth type seating, and also larger conventional tables for groups. We booked via the Internet, which was seamless, but on both occasions we visited the cafe was packed, so its probably best to book. The cafe has a great ambiance, lively, with an open kitchen and staff that are not only enthusiastic about their food, but knowledgeable enough about the ingredients, to make suggestions on what best accompanies various dishes. On the first night we visited, I had a main course of fillet of hake, with dill, capers and wilted spinach, tasty, if a little salty, whilst my wife had a starter as a main of mackerel on a bed of roasted vegetables. We ordered a portion of new potatoes and chips to accompany them, both were huge portions, so my advice is just to choose one. Other main courses include a seafood platter, lamb cutlets and a very popular fish and chips, which we had on second visit. Coming in two portion sizes, small and large, the crisp batter complimented the fresh fish perfectly, as did the homemade tartar sauce, chips and garden peas, not difficult to see why it proved so popular! Of course you have to have a dessert, lots of interesting choices but we chose the deconstructed cream tea (see picture) and the gooseberry and elderflower Eton Mess, the tea infused sultanas and raisins at the centre of the cream tea, were so full of incredible flavour and the Eton Mess, had cream infused with gooseberry and elderflower, and generous portions of meringue - fantastic! The second night we shared a chocolate fondant, which came with pistachio ice cream, popping candy and avocado, rich and sumptuous, but very filling. I was extremely disappointed as my friend had half a lobster (which looked more like two lobsters) and was chomping into that eagerly. BUT both of us were slightly annoyed at having to eat our meals at different times and at first it spoilt the evening. However, they did try to compensate, and sent out some lovely breads, some with ginger I believe, and some fabulous dips, one of which I did not recognise but it was delicious, and that was the problem. I was happily surprised at the wide variety of teas! There was ample to eat. My husband and I ate our entire afternoon tea, but everyone else in our group had a few sweet treats left to take home. The food was very delicious. I loved the little quiche best along with the soup served in a cute tea cup and saucer! Plus, the little basket of chips was a nice touch! Scrumptious!
