This location of Boots was located close to the West Quay shopping center. It was a good place to pick up some toiletries (in our case, Nivea skin cleanser that my wife told me was a reasonable price), and would have been a good place to pick up any over the counter medication if we needed it. It was one of the few places open early on a weekday (8 am) and was our first stop to do some window shopping, getting a feel for how much common items cost now in the UK. There was a small food section, stocked with bottled drinks and premade sandwiches and wraps as well. It was a self checkout and we had no issues using our US bank issued card.

The aisles have been made so wide that the large space hasn't really been used so it's a normal Boots spread out a bit. It does mean that it never seems busy and you're not constantly dodging people but if you go here expecting to find a much larger range, you'll probably be disappointed. The shop itself is bright and clean, as you would expect for a Boots, and the staff are happy to point you in the right direction if you can't find what you're looking for (which happens all too often because the signs above the aisles only give a vague idea of what might be there).

The store is well arranged and their is a seperate area for the queue so it doesn't interrupt the rest of the store, there is usually a large queue in here but it never seems to take long to clear, they always have a lot of people on the tills in busy times.

All the essentials and toiletries through the middle section and perfumes and aftershaves on the right side. Great selection of almost everything in the store, the pharmacy has plenty of staff to serve you, the gifts are plentiful and this store is very good for sales after christmas etc. I've never not been able to find anything I've wanted in this Boots!

This chemist is also where most people come when they want clip in hair extensions. They take you to a little room out the back which is a room full of hair! Every colour, style and size! However I completely agree with the other reviewer, the layout of the store in southampton is terrible, there is no specific area set out for queing and the aisles are far too narrow making it awkward to pass someone particuarly with a few bags (can imagine a buggy would be a nightmare) the service can also be quite slow which exacerbates the other problems. Although if you go first thing in the morning it can be pretty quiet and you can make the most of some great offers.

This one in Southampton can get particularly busy, the way the aisles are layed it just makes it a bit awkward to squeeze past people and its exceptionally awkward to get a buggy around when its busy, the tills arent in the right bloody place because when it is busy, and your queueing you end up queueing right up the bloody aisle so everyones trying to push past you to look at stuff while your stood there thinking they're trying to push in front of you in the queue. its a no-win situation, because then you just think i cant be bothered with pushing and shoving everyone out the way, and go somewhere else.

They still have the half price jewellers, which has been there for years as has the newsagents. There are few new shops but they now have an urban clothing store which has clothes that are hard to get in the U.K and a catalogue seconds shop. Never seems very busy and always just has people sitting around. Just outside the door is Debenhams and two restaurants which are okay to eat in when you are shopping. Feel quite sad really because my grandparents used to bring me here as a child when there was a bakery and a place for children's birthday parties. Aww Nostalgia!

It is never normally that busy when I go but I wait around 15 minutes for my prescription or go back the next day. The staff are alright most of the time although on few occasions had been rude and also asked for student ID which I didn't have and then they said it didn't matter anyway. The medicines they sell on the shelf are expensive and I can get them far cheaper from other places. They also sell gifts and have a wider range nearer Christmas.

You can but brands such as Head and Shoulders and Dove at discount prices and they often have special deals on household items like toilet roll and washing-up liquid. Always busy because of the bargains you don't really get time to interact with the staff. However always seems to be well stocked and clean. There is another one of these Store in Southampton in Bitterne. Good location and it is right night door to Poundland for more bargains!

They don't sell food or drink but they do sell any other house hold items like shampoo, toliet rolls, etc. The staff are reasonably helpful, had had worst, its a small little shop, right in the middle of the shopping centre. I have often remarked that if a place called "Hell" exists, it would probably resemble this Asda's…read moreon a Saturday night. When I lived within a stone's throw of the place I sadly resisted the urge to throw stones at it. Instead I would go - and this is no lie - shopping there after 1 a.m. JUST to avoid the ugly (in every sense of the word) crowds this Wal-mart offshoot attracts during more regular shopping hours. In many aisles, Asda's do not even go to the pretense of taking stock out of the manufacturers boxes. Instead they plop the box on the shelf, stick a price tag on the front and let you fend for yourself. I began to lose count of the number of times I got a paper cut from the sharp cardboard edges of the box. Parking is the very definition of 'a bitch' although, surprisingly, traffic flow in and out of the car park is usually good. Except when the store's adjacent petrol station is knocking a few pence off the cost of a litre of unleaded. Then it turns into a frustrating miasmatic mess of angry mouthy people all getting hot under the collar. If you can, try and use one of the (often free) bus services that frequent the store, many of them coming from far-flung locales such as Fair Oak or Bitterne. At least then you get the pleasure of swinging your carrier bags about as you get back on the bus where there is always the chance of hitting someone across the back of their legs. If it's someone wearing Burberry I think you get some kind of reward from the government? Personally, I can't bear the crowds and the apparent ignorant nature of the customers that Asda's (unfortunately) is a magnet for. It's the kind of supermarket where they should bolt an automatic machine gun to the front of your trolley (cart) so as to make your journey around the crowded aisles more entertaining and pleasurable. On the upside, they do tend to staff most of the checkouts most of the time and the place almost always has the keenest prices on the products and food you really need. No doubting though that you DO pay for those discounts in other regards. In short, it's not a place for the faint hearted - know what you want, get in there, pick your stuff up and get the hell out as quickly as possible always trying your hardest not to punch someone square in the face.

So this ASDA is a pretty good size, is open 24 hours (except for Sunday where the hours are cut short as per normal). The clothing section is big and located upstairs, there is a pharmacy, currency exchange, petrol station, bakery, hot food counter, fish counter, photo counter and opticians. There are self service tills and a cigarette/lottery kiosk and if you need cash for a visit to the Cricketers straight after work there are three cash machines available situated outside the store next to the tire centre. A lot of parking, though at Christmas and school holidays it is much harder to park. The number 1 bus which travels between Southampton and Winchester stops literally next to the car park. Should you be going out for the night in Southampton the nightstar bus (N1) stops here so if you live nearby you can always get munchies. The home delivery service has a charge but there are time slots of two hours available. Also the rate is often discounted if there is already a van delivering to your area. This is the biggest supermarket in Eastleigh, there is a varied clientele (read that as ANYTHING goes). I have docked it from being a 5 star for the following reasons: - Sometimes there are long queues. - It's part of the Walmart chain.:)
