Only to find the next day it wasn't there, I called customer service and was told it would be available tomorrow. Tomorrow came and it still wasn't there, the next CSR told me it had a 5 day hold. So this is definitely a training issue, and as always they are very friendly giving you info that is incorrect. Having worked for an internet company as a trainer this was the one area NFCU was head and shoulders above all the others, so much like them now.

This branch 3131 ML King Blvd states full service but refuse to cash checks draw on on a BOA…read moreaccount for a customer with a BOA account. They have people standing in the lobby but only to help you do digital transactions. These same people work at other branches and can do full service including cashing checks so it isn't that they aren't trained. This is the only branch between Jacksonville and Greenville so evidently BOA doesn't cover very much of America. Avoid BOA if you want a bank that actually cares about their customers and does what they say their branches claim to do. When you finally get through to customer service on the toll free number one you are transferred to a supervisor within 30 seconds the call disconnects (happened 2 times for this incident, I spend over 2 hours on hold/in call/ transferred to have call disconnect.) And I need to add that they told me I could go to a check cashing service (where I would have to pay a fee). Let's not forget the fact that I pay a monthly checking account service fee at BOA for the "privilege" of cashing my check without having to pay a check cashing fee. They just keep getting worse and worse. I ended up having to drive to Jacksonville branch (@ a 65 mile round trip) just to get the service that I needed done. Update on September 25, 2026 I also filed my review with the BBB. Bank of Americas response was that they did not believe I had an interaction with the business. My response to the BBB email is as follows: The date of the occurrence was Friday September 18, 2026. The two people working the lobby but refusing to do the full job were Jonathon and Yvonne . I was referred to a blonde named Diane. When I showed her the website saying full service she told me that it was a mistake on BOA's website. I called the customer service number and spoke to a rep who stated she was from Alabama and when that call disconnected and I called back I got a rep from NC. Both of these calls I was told there was nothing showing that the branch was not full service. After over 30 calls to the branch at 3131 MLK Blvd in New Bern (252-638-7750) I finally got through and spoke to a Chelsey who gave me the runaround and to if I wanted to cash my check I could drive to Jacksonville branch or go to a check cashing place. I did in fact have to drive to Jacksonville branch on Friday afternoon to get my check cashed. All along the process documentation was supposedly entered to address my complaint including from the Jacksonville branch when I explained what happened at New Bern that morning. If you go on the MLK branch website as of today September 25, 2026 it still states FULL SERVICE and if you open up the dropdown Our Twin Rivers location is built with you in mind it even states they will cash non customer checks. I had to drive 30 miles to go to the New Bern branch to be told to drive another @ 30 miles to go to Jacksonville branch to drive another 35 miles back home to Morehead City. So almost 100 miles travel to get a check cashed that both were associated with BOA accounts.
