Firstly there's a pleasure boat which slowly makes it's way around the lower slopes of the Great Orme offering the possibility of spotting seals or dolphins. The alternative is the 'Jet Boat', a high powered speed boat which whizzes around the bay at high speed. You won't get as much chance to take in the views and the trip is much shorter but it's much more exicting. The service is seasonal and only runs during the summer (and when the tide is in).

The Great Orme Tour is one of Llandudno's most popular attractions, at least if you have silver…read morehair, and runs four times a day from the bus stop next to the pier entrance. The tour meanders slowly around Marine Drive on the edge of the Great Orme using a vintage coach and taking about an hour to complete. Amongst the points of interest along the way are St. Tudno's Church (Llandudno in English translates to 'Parish of St. Tudno'), the old lighthouse (which is now a luxury B&B with spectacular views) and the remains of a Second World War artillery school. Along the way you may spot all sorts of interesting flora and fauna, including possibly one of the Orme's herd of feral Kashmiri gosts. If you're a bit nosy you may be interested to note that the tour takes in the two most expensive streets in Wales in Marine Drive (average house price in 2008 of £897,400) and Llys Helig Drive (average price of £875,700) so you'll get a chance to see how the other half live.

Alpine Llandudno are a local coach company who offer Day Trips and sightseeing Tours all around the…read moreUK. The trips are sold at a resonable price and are popular with OAP's. A Day Trip with Alpine is certainly cheaper than paying for public transport and they offer lots of choice e.g. Shopping Trips, Christmas Markets, Historical visits. The Only downside to an Alpine trip is the time scale, for instance on a recent Shopping Trip to Liverpool the coach left Llandudno at 9am and we didnt arrive until 11:45 and had to be back to meet the coach at 4pm - not leaving adequate time for a proper Shopping Spree around the city. Another problem I encountered was OAP's fighting for their seats, you are able to pre-book a seat and most people just tend to ignore the fact that they have been allocated seat numbers but for the few that do insist on sitting on their Pre-booked seat there can be handbags at dawn and a few crossed words. Quite funny really seeing Grannies fighting!! Highly recommended for those over 60 but not ideal for younger people who want a bit more flexibility.

So dressed in shorts and t-shirt off we went for a trip along the prom. Now we must be 'thick' but not knowing the area we assumed that Great Orme was a district of Llandudno not the hill. Stepping on the cable-hauled tram we ascended the Great Orme. Halfway up, the tram reached the mid stage and we changed trams. At the top the wind was extremely blowy and cold. We were freezing but had to laugh. Thank goodness for the cafe at the top. Would we go again, most certainly. But, next time, we will take coats LOL

Really like the idea that you can get on and off at the half-way station, go for a walk, the go the rest of the way. The visitor centre at half-way station is extremely good and very informative. Budding engineers will love the clear views of the workings. Cafe/centre at the top is a disappointment. This has the appearance of a motorway service station with similar choice and quality of food and drink. Take a flask and enjoy the view instead!
