I recently met a friend in the land of suits known as the Westpac food court. Off Kent Street and…read morebehind Wynyard station, this lunchtime hotspot houses some great little take away stalls. From Thai to sushi, to sandwiches to kebabs, the options are pretty well rounded in these parts. With a grassy courtyard for lounging / tanning and dozens of tables scattered both in the shade and the golden sunshine, it provides the perfect little escape from the florescent lighting and artic air con in the office. If you're after something healthy (ish), I recommend you try one of Breadline's many wraps. Their Moroccan chicken is decent, with a spicy kick and creamy mayo to round it out. Get it toasted to avoid that "I've been sitting in a case all day" taste. You might even want to pick up a serve of one of their few salads to round it all out. Luckily everything comes in a take away container so it's easy to position yourself on the cozy grass. Plop down, grab your fork and stay awhile (or at least until the lunch hour ends). Good eats and free vitamin D in your day might just be the little kick you need to get you through.

It's a massive skyscraper building owned by Westpac with an assortment of decent looking shops, cafes, restaurants etc inside and even a "shirt bar" who would have done a roaring trade that day as I was sweating in a singlet! The thing that made it notable the particular day that I went was the knitted steps and the sweat-glistening guy doing yoga in just shorts in the arcade! I'm not sure if the knitting is permanent or part of Art & About but it was an unexpected pleasure to stumble across such a comforting colourful display in the thick of the CBDs suits! The guy doing yoga, well. Your guess is as good as mine.

I preferred my pie with smashed potatoes and gravy. We liked Original beef pie the most as it has more beef flavor and it's with chunky beef not grounded beef. I also liked Steak and mushroom. The crusty was a bit doughy (not crunchy enough) for my taste though. The staff recognized us by now and he was very friendly. It's a small food shack but there were some seats available. They opened both rain and shine and really hit the spot when we just arrived from the airport and it was downpour.

You can make any pie a tiger pie which is a pie topped with mashed potatoes, mushy peas, and gravy. The flavor was good and the service was quick. Since this is a food truck, there's no real seating just some benches nearby. Everything was great until we sat down to eat. After taking our first bite, we noticed a bunch of rats running around. I have noticed quite a bit of rats during our short stay in Australia. Maybe it's a normal thing here bc people just continued eating and walked by without screaming but that's definitely not normal where I'm from. Also, these rats are not scared. They go pretty close to humans.

Forget "sandwiches", this place makes sandwizes because the guy that runs this place is a wizard!…read moreHe knows his flavours, he knows his breads (which he collects at 4AM every morning), and him and his staff go above and beyond to look after the customer. We drove past this place one afternoon and the wife and I knew we had to eat here. We found street parking and made our way over. From the outside the red neon sign gave a very strong impression. Inside it was a little bit dull but that doesn't matter when you start to read the menu board. All the menu items suggest bold American flavours. Choose your filling, bread (sourdough or rye) and whether you want it fresh or toasted. I was worried about my sandwich being toast until I was told that they'd add the lettuce afterwards to prevent it from wilting. The food came out quick. My wife asked for soy milk in her coffee which they had run out of. However one of the staff went to the corner store, JUST FOR US, to buy a new carton. I was amazed by this. This truly was a selfless act and to me it defined what great customer service is. Our food came out quickly and tasted amazing. I ordered the hoagie sandwich. I know in The States a hoagie is this massive bread roll sandwich thing, but this being Australia they brought out a toasted sandwich which tasted just like a hoagie. Perfect down to the last bite. The staff are great company and extremely friendly. I want... nay, NEED to come back here to try some of the other sandwiches. A great place for a meal which isn't too heavy but will leave you thoroughly satisfied.
