My physician recommended her after I'd tried acupuncture and every other treatment you can imagine. Once my migraines were under control, I continued to work with her for a couple of years to improve my health. . I moved away from the area but she set me on a path to find MFR therapists everywhere I've lived. Without giving any hints, every one of them has produced Jamie's original diagnoses and provided similar therapy. I'm a nurse. MFR is a real physiological (not psychological) thing. It should be a part of everyone's health routine. Jamie is my hero!

When I would sit down, I had pain. When I stood up, I had pain. It was especially painful in the morning. I was impressed with the initial assessment that Jamie did. She did a thorough examination and asked me lots of questions. She took the time to test movements. She then worked on me. Even after the first session, I felt so much better and had immediate pain relief. After the second session, it was gone. Entirely gone. I was able to return to Tae Kwon Do and went on to pass my rank test for the next belt. Jamie is professional, thorough, compassionate, efficient and gentle in her effective treatments. I would highly recommend her.

tl;dr: If you want to have a fun afternoon with some girlfriends or to treat yourself to some…read morerelaxation, Siam Massage would be a great place to consider. If you want any genuine body work done, give it a pass. *** I had a terrible kink in my neck and really needed some attention. I walked into Siam Thai at 2pm with my neck at an angle I wouldn't have thought was humanly possible and was told an appointment would be available at 4pm that afternoon. Perfect! I completed an intake form, including circling the areas of my body that were hurting and where I wanted extra attention. Circles on a diagram are good--no miscommunication possible that way. This spa is lovely looking, inside and out. The rooms are dark, as they are in every Thai massage place I've ever been in. The room I was provided was very well appointed, very nicely decorated. The parts of the spa I saw were clean. My massage therapist was a tiny woman, which is not a surprise to anyone who's had Thai massage before. I had selected a combo Swedish/Thai massage, as all the Thai massages I've had previously (in the San Francisco Bay Area) were intense experiences and with my neck I was concerned that 100% Thai massage would be too much for me. She asked me in broken English if I wanted "soft, medium, or hard" and I said "hard". I figure if I'm paying $90 for an hour's work, I want to see some results from it. $90 isn't cheap. It immediately was apparent to me this nice woman was not a trained therapist. I'm a veteran of hundreds of massages, and she had little idea of musculature. She put forth very little pressure, even after I asked her to. The entire Swedish part of the massage was a waste of time. Because I was looking for pain relief, it wasn't even relaxing. She spent little time on my neck, and anyone could have felt the knot under my skin, especially when compared to the other side. Knots = pain/trigger points. Tigger points = "massage HERE". I had circled my hips and my calves as other areas on which to focus. She did spend time on my hips, rather ineffectually, but my calves were almost completely ignored. The Thai massage part of the process was much better. With the stretching, I actually felt that work was getting done. She had me lie on my right and left side, as well as sitting up, and all that work was quite effective. How I ordered my massage was my mistake, and I'll know better next time--go for a full Thai massage and skip the gentle Swedish nonsense. Bemidji needs places like Siam Massage, so I hope it succeeds and becomes an established business in the community. Moderate your expectations. Remember these massage therapists aren't professionally trained and you should be quite pleased with your experience.

So where do I start with Star Nails in Bemidji?! Lets start positively; I had my nails done and…read morethey looked nice when I left the store. Thats about all the positiveness I have for this place. I accidentally booked at Star Nails as I'm not from the area. I walk into the store and the vibe is not good, faded ugly paint on the walls (new paint and vibrant colors would go a long way here), no decor except for some really old 1990ish vibe faded pictures of women and their nails. I wasn't impressed with my first step into the door. I asked for DIP nails and they don't have dip??? Like whaa?? What kind of nail salon doesn't have dip powder? I also was SUPER thirsty and needed a water (I'd even pay for it) and she said she has nothing like that. Most average salons have small bottles of water or a can of soda if you ask them (again, I was gonna pay for it!) So, no vibe, no dip, no water. Okay, whatever. I said gel nail polish will be fine. This salon had only 1 tv and it was located on a wall at the back of the store so when you sit at the nail counters, you can't really see the tv - horrible placement. They need more tvs, turn on caption, and place in a spot where people can physically see the tv. You can't play on your phone while getting your nails done so you just stare at the job at hand, right? Lets start with the guy, because he's kind of a piece of work. He comes out and he literally "criticized" EVERYTHING I DID! I could do nothing right in this guys mind. First, this guy shook my fingers and hands and told me to relax throughout the entire manicure. He told me not to look at what he was doing because he said that makes me more tense! Umm, no, this guy made me super tense for some reason because he started criticizing me from the very beginning. Secondly, he put my nails in an acetone bath and I was fidgety, and he told me to "stop, don't fidget, keep nails in the solution" - and I did, I was just bouncing and fidgety with nothing interesting to look at in the store. He seemed very annoyed by me generally and I was extra nice because I didn't want this guy to be an ass to me. He kept bending my fingers and pushing down fingers aggressively because he says I wouldn't relax. "Dude, if you tell me to relax and get aggressive with me, it makes me more nervous so I def won't relax." Third, I didn't get the color I wanted! I picked out a beige that glittered. And I didn't understand why I couldn't pick that specific color. He said something about an under color? The under color was beige. He ended up only putting on the beige color but no glitter?! I was dumbfounded! No explanation, he couldn't talk English very well so I couldn't understand him. I was so disappointed. Fourth, when my nails were curing in the dryer UV light, I always looked to see how deep it went and how far I could put my hands into this. He told me not to look! I didn't want my nails scratching the back of this curing machine and smashing the color all over and making a mess. Don't tell me what to do, dude! There's a method behind my madness; just deal with it. Fifth, this was supposed to be a manicure with gel polish. I didn't even get my manicure. He didn't clip my cuticles or push them back, or get underneath the nails or anything that had to with a manicure. He basically changed the color of my gel polish and I didn't get a massage or anything remotely close to a manicure. Overall, this guy was rude and truly doesn't care about the people walking into the salon. He looked like he HATED being there and he didn't want to work. I will NEVER go back to this establishment to get my nails done...ever. Between the awful aesthetic of the salon and the rudeness of the couple managing this store, it was just a bad experience. Please book your appointments with caution!

The containers they use to hold all of their utensils were so dirty with build up of scum. The lady was zoning in and out while rubbing my legs. She didn't file my nails or clean underneath them. I don't know if she was high on pills or not but it really looked like it. The owner is just as rude as all of its employees, if not worse. A very incompetent business. I hope no one has the experience I did. I've never felt so disrespected and humiliated in my life. I'll never come here again when I come to visit my family in Bemidji.
