If you want any genuine body work done, give it a pass. *** I had a terrible kink in my neck and really needed some attention. I walked into Siam Thai at 2pm with my neck at an angle I wouldn't have thought was humanly possible and was told an appointment would be available at 4pm that afternoon. Perfect! I completed an intake form, including circling the areas of my body that were hurting and where I wanted extra attention. Circles on a diagram are good--no miscommunication possible that way. This spa is lovely looking, inside and out. The rooms are dark, as they are in every Thai massage place I've ever been in. The room I was provided was very well appointed, very nicely decorated. The parts of the spa I saw were clean. My massage therapist was a tiny woman, which is not a surprise to anyone who's had Thai massage before. I had selected a combo Swedish/Thai massage, as all the Thai massages I've had previously (in the San Francisco Bay Area) were intense experiences and with my neck I was concerned that 100% Thai massage would be too much for me. She asked me in broken English if I wanted "soft, medium, or hard" and I said "hard". I figure if I'm paying $90 for an hour's work, I want to see some results from it. $90 isn't cheap. It immediately was apparent to me this nice woman was not a trained therapist. I'm a veteran of hundreds of massages, and she had little idea of musculature. She put forth very little pressure, even after I asked her to. The entire Swedish part of the massage was a waste of time. Because I was looking for pain relief, it wasn't even relaxing. She spent little time on my neck, and anyone could have felt the knot under my skin, especially when compared to the other side. Knots = pain/trigger points. Tigger points = "massage HERE". I had circled my hips and my calves as other areas on which to focus. She did spend time on my hips, rather ineffectually, but my calves were almost completely ignored. The Thai massage part of the process was much better. With the stretching, I actually felt that work was getting done. She had me lie on my right and left side, as well as sitting up, and all that work was quite effective. How I ordered my massage was my mistake, and I'll know better next time--go for a full Thai massage and skip the gentle Swedish nonsense. Bemidji needs places like Siam Massage, so I hope it succeeds and becomes an established business in the community. Moderate your expectations. Remember these massage therapists aren't professionally trained and you should be quite pleased with your experience.

My physician recommended her after I'd tried acupuncture and every other treatment you can imagine. Once my migraines were under control, I continued to work with her for a couple of years to improve my health. . I moved away from the area but she set me on a path to find MFR therapists everywhere I've lived. Without giving any hints, every one of them has produced Jamie's original diagnoses and provided similar therapy. I'm a nurse. MFR is a real physiological (not psychological) thing. It should be a part of everyone's health routine. Jamie is my hero!

When I would sit down, I had pain. When I stood up, I had pain. It was especially painful in the morning. I was impressed with the initial assessment that Jamie did. She did a thorough examination and asked me lots of questions. She took the time to test movements. She then worked on me. Even after the first session, I felt so much better and had immediate pain relief. After the second session, it was gone. Entirely gone. I was able to return to Tae Kwon Do and went on to pass my rank test for the next belt. Jamie is professional, thorough, compassionate, efficient and gentle in her effective treatments. I would highly recommend her.
