We stayed near the airport on the last day of our Australian vacation. The area is pretty quiet and there's not a ton of attractions near-bye, but this place is certainly worthy of your time. Living Legends houses retired racehorses on a large sprawling national park and is also home to kangaroos roaming about the area. We started at the Woodlands Homestead. The main house is where you can sit down and get fresh homemade scones and tea served to you while you sit amongst the memorabilia and historic documents of these and other champion caliber racehorses. If you're not into racehorses and just come for the scones, you won't be disappointed. They're delicious, enormous and served with traditional preserves and cream. When you're done eating, I suggest you go out and meet the champion horses. If that doesn't interest you, there are dozens of kangaroos hopping about in a nearby fenced area. The entire experience was surprisingly fun and made an otherwise quiet travel day into an experience that is once in a lifetime. The staff inside is beyond nice and friendly. My family and I enjoyed some very warm conversations about what they do and how much they enjoy caring for the horses. This place would satisfy someone looking for an outdoor experience, someone looking for fun tea service, someone looking for a historic site and great for those of us who are not used to seeing kangaroos hopping about. I'm very happy we were able to experience this and I would highly recommend you carve out some time for this if you're in the area or you like the sound of what you can do here. read more
