VERY HIGH RISK FOR YOUR ENTIRE TANK I have to update my review beacuse even our blue tang that we had it for more than a year, from other seller, died after the contamination. Don't waste your money in buying fish from live aquaria and more important, do NOT put your fish tank at risk of infection. We bought 3 tang fishes including one brown, yellow and a purple tang. One died after 17 days we couldn't find the body and the other 2 died after 32 few days apart of each other. The purple tang was so tiny when we received and it grew up a little bit before it die. After searching and investigation we found out they most likely had an fungal infection with a cycle of 28 days in which fishes cannot survive towards the end of the cycle. And of course it happen longer that 2 weeks and we didn't meet live aquaria return policy. Not reliable and not good customer service So sadly, even though we maintained the tank very efficient to save the other fishes we lost our blue tang about 2 week later. read more

TLDR: They sent a sick fish with damaged fins that died 2 days later. Would only credit 11$ fish and not $30 Shipping and $10 Box fee. I ordered a fancy goldfish and some aquatic rocks. Rocks have yet to show up, not a big deal. However, the fish that arrived was covered in white spots and very obviously showing symptoms of being very sick. Along with that it's fins were torn up. I notified customer support of the white spots immediately and they simply instructed to quarantine and treat with meds. All of which I did. Fish succummed to its illness 2 days later. I contacted customer support again and all they did was link to their warranty/claims process (which is very....shall we say....tedious) and rattle off policy. Absolutely zero customer support. The fact that they can charge close to 40 bucks to ship a fish and not at least send a healthy/undamaged one is insane. Don't waste your time or money here. We have submitted to update the page showing the juvenile sizes. our apologies it is the correct size." So....they get away with changing the advertised size after the fact?? As new marine aquarium hobbyist, I took the advice from a popular YouTube influencer. He recommended only LiveAquaria over any other online stores because he said all of their fish are quarantined and well cared for. Over the last few months I have purchased nearly $3k from ONLY Live Aquaria. Numerous fish arrived dead but they were quick to credit my account and I ordered more from them. Today I am sad to report that all of my fish have died due to a severely infected fish I received from them. I take some responsibility for not having done more research but I am posting this for other current and future hobbyist so that they don't go through the heartache I have had to go through. I purchased 2 goldfish 1 Black Moor Large, and 1 calico fan tail large. They both arrived and were infected with Anchor worms. I took a video show the worms flowing from the gills the 2nd day, sent it to them, they said they needed a picture. I said the video was sent as photographing these worms because a still shot does not provide the clear evidence. They refused my claim, and I sent the still pictures, and they said that nothing was wrong with the fish. They refused to acknowledge the evidence of the video. These are profiteers, with little regard for the client. Take the money and run mentality. Order a Tang and they added a heater pouch at 67 degree weather which literally cooked the fish to death. Crazy thing is it looks like it's been dead awhile like couple days no joke. Very disappointed. LiveAquaria sent me an obviously damaged/sick Dwarf African Frog. It arrived with one truncated arm [missing the "Hand"] which they would have seen when preparing to ship. It never went down below the surface since it had arrived. I was okay with all that as long as it was otherwise healthy-- which it was not. There was a big white spot at that arm socket and by the next day it was all pink on the underside [sign of infection] and dead. Now I have to worry that it has infected the rest of my tank! Also wondering how healthy the second frog they sent is. Customer Service basically said all they's be willing to do is refund the cost of the frog [about $6] but not the $30 shipping fee because I had also received other items [other frog, snails]. I could have bought snails locally, I was willing to pay the shipping fee because I wanted TWO frogs. They did not offer to replace the frog-- so if I want another one I have to pay another $30 for shipping! I understand things happen-- BUT they sent me a frog that had obvious issues [half an arm!] -this should trigger an exception, at minimum a replacement all on their dime. read more

I bought the "build your own cleaner kit" and I had to spend a minimum of $75 which is annoying since I have a nano tank and that's too much. The powder blue one laying on its side looks like he has a broken tail and the upper section actually looks like dead flesh. Again don't buy from them. I reached out and spoke to someone on the phone and explained we were leaving town and that the shipping delay would mean nobody would be here on our end to receive the package. So, I really wanted a terminal phase Flame/Jordan's Fairy wrasse and I decided to try the California Live Aquaria again, even though I had a bad experience with them previously (see my other review). I have to say that this experience was fantastic. Not only did I get a great price (almost half off), but the wrasse they sent me was spectacular and healthy. It has been a little over three weeks now and I took him out of quarantine a couple of days ago and he is doing great in my display tank. He gets along really well with my lone female and the other tank mates. I had to let people know that it is possible to have a great experience with this company. A few of the fish came in horrible shape, such as fins rot, and excessive breathing such as shock. 75% of the fish died within the first few days. Yes they offer a gaurantee saying they will replace the fish but you have to take a pic and send it to them. Not worth the hassle. I am sorry to say that I did not have a positive experience with LiveAquaria. I am an experienced aquarist with 5 aquariums up and running. I have had positive experiences with other online fish shops (AquariumFishSale and Aquatic Arts) so I though I would try LiveAquaria. The fish arrived alive, but sick with ich. In hindsight, I probably should have euthanized them all and reported them dead, but I thought I would try to save them by treating the ich in a quarantine tank. They all died anyway. When I asked for a refund, they would not allow it because many of the fish bodies had decomposed to the point where a photograph was nothing but a pile of mush. I was able to photograph three of the bodies that still resembled fish. Live Aquaria gave me a store credit for three fish instead of all of the nine which died. Why would I order more from a store that has already sent me nine sick fish? Consider me a former, and very dissatisfied, customer. read more

I've ordered from them three times. One fish of what was supposed to be a male/female pair was left out of the first order, and one arrived dead in the third order. Granted, they will refund you the costs of the fish, but you are still out the $29.99 overnight air shipping. You won't receive a credit on that, even when LiveAquaria manages to leave a fish out of your original shipment. A credit on a missing or dead fish is nice, but that really doesn't begin to cover the shipping charges on an order they screwed up, and they are not going to offer to send you a replacement on their dime. On the positive side, their packaging and shipping procedures (when the fish actually make into the package) are great and their representatives are very pleasant. However, that I'm out $60 in shipping charges on one fish I didn't receive and one that arrived dead seems like a very valid reason to longer shop with them. I purchased Cattails, pickerelweed, and water Iris from LiveAquaria. We had unseasonable frost and cold weather in May so I called LiveAquaria and they told me to put the plants in a bucket of water and put it in a sunny location. I did this and the plants stayed green. Once the weather had warmed up in the danger of Frost had passed, I planted them in our Lake according to the instructions that LiveAquaria had provided. The only thing that survived was a few water Iris. When I inquired why the plants did not thrive and asked for replacement - not a refund - they said that there was only a 14-day window and that I missed it. 14 days is not a lot of time especially when I was dealing with very unseasonable cold weather. LiveAquaria would not budge on their policy. I'm extremely disappointed with LiveAquaria. I will not order from them again and I do not recommend them. read more

I feel like Live Aquaria scammed me. I was a first time customer and will absolutely never order again. I want to warn other potential buyers. Support your local fish store instead (as I should have too). My experience is below. I ordered eight neon tetras and eight green fire tetras. Everything was listed as "in stock" when I placed my order (or I wouldn't have placed it...). I received seven neon tetras (not eight, as I ordered). I was also told that the green fire tetras are temporarily out of stock. Okay, that's fine, I can wait... I made it very clear to customer service that I would be willing to wait as long as it takes for them to be back in stock for my order to be fulfilled (otherwise I spent a lot of money on shipping neon tetras that I could get from anywhere... I only ordered online, from them, and paid that amount of shipping because I was ordering neon tetras *and* green fire tetras...). Two weeks go by and I receive an email saying I canceled my order. I DID NOT CANCEL MY ORDER. I contact customer service, again. They do not respond for over one week to my inquiry. In my inquiry, I again stated that I did not cancel my order, and want my order to be fulfilled... I explained, again, that I only ordered from them (e.g. paid so much for shipping) because I was assuming my whole order would be fulfilled... No response at all. Nothing. No acknowledgement of their mistake or anything. So I email them again, and explain yet again my situation, and say I am disappointed I've waited longer than a week for them to reply. Eventually, I receive a response and they acknowledge that they were the ones who cancelled my order and basically just stated that if an order can't be fulfilled in two weeks, it will be canceled. So, just to clarify - all the fish I ordered were in stock when I ordered them. If live aquaria is unable to fulfill my order in two weeks and I have very clearly told them I can wait literally as long as it would take them to fulfill my order (like, I will wait months... I don't care... I want my order to be fulfilled????), AND the fish were in stock when I ordered, the least they can do is acknowledge their mistake and offer some kind of compensation? Like, I don't want that - I want the fish I ordered... I want them to fulfill my order. They *scammed* me; they convinced me into ordering from them, paying high boxing and shipping costs, only sent me 7/16 fish that I ordered, did not send me the remainder, canceled my order, ignored my emails, did not offer any compensation...? I don't understand. Their website ONLY has the positive reviews posted and that should have been enough of a red flag for me to NOT order from them. I learned from my mistake. Thankfully I ordered through PayPal and absolutely will be speaking to PayPal's customer service to see if they will be able to help me. I bought items in the past from them for my 350 gal aquarium. This order of blennies, gobys, jawfish, crabs, and snails. I think the snails were bad and over night crashed my tank killing all of my previous fish, seahorses, corals, etc. that I previous bought from them and the items I just purchased. I called within 24 hours explaining this and how it killed EVERYTHING! They gave me credit for everything on recent purchase except the crabs because I couldn't see them as they went in the rocks!
