We were nervous about the water being cold since we went in the beginning of October but the wetsuit keeps you very warm (granted, it was quite sunny when we went). We forgot to grab our complimentary sticker the lesson and dropped by its location in Tofino the day after. It's a nice place and has a great collection of stickers to pick from. I liked the small and intimate session. Our instructor taught us the basics for surfing and was super helpful when we were in the water. ​​​​​​​​​​I would definitely sign up for lessons again! They provide wet suits, shoes, and surf boards. You can also lock up your items in their truck. Don't bring food with you if you are leaving it on the beach. The birds will peck at your bags looking for food!

I had recently turned 50 and the encouragement I received from owner who was a woman of a similar "vintage" was gold. When I finally brought my board back after 4 days I felt like I had been adopted into the surfing tribe...a tribe with a rare woman surf shop owner generously opening the door. I feared not being able to fit into a wetsuit and the embarrassment of it all. The store manager reassured me that it was a non-issue, and was very discreet. I think i got a men's size. Oh well!
