My grandmother has been living at Zimpher's for several years and every time I'm there, my heart…read morewarms for the loving care and environment she currently has. She lived on her own for decades, living independent, gardening, cooking, all things that she loved and moving into a more assisted living situation was a great change but was made easier with the caring ownership and staff. She has a lovely, bright bedroom with a recliner chair, small table, television and even a sliding door that opens to a back patio with her planters. A typical day when I walk into the house is someone watching tv, someone playing a puzzle, music playing, possibly a friendly small dog and even a grandchild running about. I cannot stress enough how much it feels like a home. We are grateful!

I had an unusual conversation with Zimpher Residential Care Home! After she met with my mother…read moreyesterday, she called to talk to me. Her immediate discussion turned to things my mother had asked about. Karen said my mother had asked for her own bathroom, lots of activities and a shower each day. Karen said they had Jack and Jill bathrooms, some activities and could not provide daily showers. I thought we could work around these items. Over the past 2 1/2 weeks we were told that monthly payments would be between $3400 to $4400 depending on need. When I asked Karen what they would charge my mother, she said, "At least $5000!" Wow! My mother uses a walker and a catheter and moves slowly. When I asked Karen why so much? She responded, "Oh, we have some issues at the home." I guess these issues developed after she met my mother. I guess its easier to price someone out of the market when you don't want them than to be honest. Very disappointed. This is a small community. Word travels fast.

Her mental and physical health was declining so I moved her into a smaller Assisted Living Community which was cheaper. I gave Cogir the required 2 months notice, they made it almost impossible to do the checkout walk through. They will jump through hoops to get you moved in and make it very difficult to move out. Then two weeks ago they charged my mothers account for the month of October. I called right away and let them know the money needed to be returned the office person Jeanie told me it would be refunded right away and we would receive the check by last week, the check was never sent out. I called again on Tuesday and Jeanie kept making excuses, I was told To come by the office today in the afternoon to pickup the check I went to pick up the check and they did not have it for me. They wasted my time, I could have been in the hospital with my mother who had a stroke last week and is not doing well. This is stealing money from the seniors. I am sure we are not the only ones that have had problems with this Company.

The other reviews are spot on, so i won't be redundant. What's amazing is that there seems to be no…read morecommunication with the top brass who might actually want this facility to be successful. (It could be - it was great when it was Merrill Gardens) Lots of "happy talk" from local mgt., but ignoring life or death issues. Very confusing. Example: How about ignoring food allergies, and not serving the food that was ordered off the menu? People can die from this if they're slightly forgetful as most seniors are. The service (service??) gets worse every week, the rates are skyrocketing, they're spending huge $$ on horrendous re-furnishings, and people are leaving in droves. Why don't they care????
