I will never trust another fish store as much as I trust this team. From the owner, to each and every one of the staff. I appreciate everything they do and the research they do to be able to know as much as they possibly can to answer all the questions they get. They take pride in everything they do from cleaning the tanks to teaching and helping their customers. 100% recommend this shop. The owner is so amazing and sweet and the staff are just as amazing. ALL of them!! The young lady (Mave) makes the entire store fun to experience and I love her personality! She will tell u straight up the truth about anything and not sugar coat to sell. To me, I value the honesty (which is why I spend more $$ than I care to admit at this store lol). Never go anywhere else for fish. They are AMAZING BEYOND AMAZING!!

Great place!! Staff is very friendly and while this is mainly a salt water store they were still happy to help me find a much cheaper better heater and other accessories and they do have fresh water fish as well! All there fish look healthy and the name Live Art Aquatics fits I spent half an hour just looking at fish when I came in just for a heater! I will definitely be back for my fresh water fish soon!

There's a lot of pet/fish stores in Kansas City and thankfully, this one is doing things right! First of all, as far as I know there are no "fish only" pet stores this far East. I get tired of going to Petco or Petland where yes they have fish, but it's not their main focus. Having a fish and coal store close is amazing enough! The tanks are still getting established since they didn't open that long ago. They have a ton of fish and corals though. The tanks are very clean and I didn't see any bad algae or hitchhikers. My favorite thing is that every time I'm there I see them doing things to the tank - always taking care of them. The location is awesome too. I didn't even know this little art district was in Independence. It's a fun street to walk down plus Mugs Up is across the street and made for a nice pit stop. Prices are extremely affordable. Much cheaper than most places and for fish and corals I feel would stay alive. A lot of stores I go to I don't see the fish/corals thriving until I bring them home - but not here. Everything looks incredibly healthy and showed lots of signs of growth. The people is one thing that makes a big difference here. The employees/owner are not only active in many groups online but in-person, they're just as friendly. They always greet me, always start conversations, always check in with me, and are just down right friendly. It's a veyr different experience than some other fish stores I have been too. I highly recommend you check them out! Great local business that I am happy to support.

These folks know their aquascaping. Their prices indicate they're proud of that which they offer,…read morebut it's all premium stuff. I'd advise taking care with fish- they use RO water, so drip acclimation will be necessary if you're on KC tap water. The Pygmy's cories I got from them were healthy, but they needed a slow acclimation to be put into my quarantine. They're now in the display. They're knowledgeable about their fish and plants (I'd assume salt water as well, but I don't have a saltwater tank, so I can't say one way or the other). The plants I've purchased from them have been great, except for one buce brownie tissue culture that melted and hasn't come back, but apparently my tank doesn't like buce, because I've tired multiple times, and buce melts and never come back, so I don't fault them for that. Their plants are nearly always in good shape and happy. I did buy some downoi that was super leggy, and so I trimmed it to use only the best of it. It's there, in the tank, and I'm watching to see what it does. But the tissue culture of the downoi I got from them really took off, and is propagating just fine. Their cost is in line with online sellers when you factor in shipping. I'll continue to use them. I've been pleased with the knowledge of the employees and their locality.

Beautiful selection and knowledgable staff! They were patient with all of our questions. It is one…read moreof the more expensive stores, but the aquariums are extremely well kept and they can order in a fish for you if they don't have it.
