I bought a sulcata tortoise from here for my daughter. It's all she wanted for Christmas. She was very happy Christmas morning!! This pet store has many fury friends as well as many different types of reptiles and fish. The store was clean and items fairly easy to find. The reason for three stars instead of 4 is because I felt the sales staff wasn't very knowledgeable about the tortoise. It would've been nice to have some information about the little guy. Like a birth month. How he was bred and where? All in all this store is one of the better pet stores around. I will definitely return to this place over the big brand stores. Hey! Don't poke the snakes OK? The snake den was a bit much for me but I did get to see a giant python yawn, or maybe he was trying to get a taste for us. ew. I had to flee. There was a group of people in that room literally poking at the snake's glass. Have we learned nothing from movies, tv shows, uhm, poking things with sticks in general? Other than that, this pet store is pretty neat. I loved walking in and being welcomed by the bunnies! Soooo cute, if I thought for a moment that my cats wouldn't torture it or it wouldn't pee on everything I own, It would've come home with me. Then next, they roll out the Chinchilla! Ah! I want to squeeze your face! Luring you finally to the hamsters and then the birds, you have to wonder if this order is in case those snakes get loose. Oh and everything is available for holding as long as you do it above the habitat. They have a pretty impressive aquarium section with immaculate tanks. The husb and I spent quite a bit of time in here as we have been hoping for some relaxing fish to come into our lives for some time. They have the selection for sure. The employees were super friendly and like most exotic pet stores it can get a bit pricey. OH, and the big scary snakes are not for sale. read more

This is a great pet store, especially if you are looking for pets or fish. They take wonderful care of all of their animals and offer an assortment of birds, small animals, reptiles and fish (marine and tropical). They have and astonishing selection of snakes. There is even an anaconda (not for sale, of course) and several huge pythons. I haven't asked, but it seems like they breed many of their snakes in-house. If I need a snake, I'm gonna go here. In addition to the lovely reptiles, their fish are also quite nice. They offer everything from small tetras to knife fish to cichlids of all sizes. The marine (salt) selection is quite a bit smaller but they have some really beautiful specimens they are vivid and healthy. If you are specifically looking for large adult fish, this would be a great place to look. read more

Their new store looks really really cool, and they have tons of animals. I seriously loved this store.... That is, until I heard the absolute horror stories of how they treat animals and especially EMPLOYEES there. YIKES!!! My heart goes out to the people who work there, and their poor breeder snakes in the back... Also I seriously heard they bludgeon their feeder rodents to death and allow hamsters to kill each other in the back as they keep buying more... I get their just rodents but they have feelings actually. Maybe you guys should learn how to treat others and your animals would be healthier and good employees would stay around? Just sayin'. We are from OK stumbled across this store and we just love it! We took home several hundred dollars worth of fresh water fish. They packaged them up so nice for us and everyone of them made it home and are still alive. This was in May, Well we are back now and it 2 months later for more fish and maybe a tank or some lights. Small store has what you need. I don't have exotic animals, but I do have I have 2 cats and 2 dogs. Miles of Exotics is the place to go for quality food and supplies for my pets. I buy the Nutro brand of pet food, and this store carries a wide variety. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They won't let you wander around looking confused and lost. The store is small enough to find what you need, get in, get out. The location on Barry Rd, across from Metro North Mall is convenient Sure, things cost a little more than the 'big box' pet stores, but I would rather shop a locally owned small business any day. read more

This place has tons of stuff to look at and some really neat large specimens which is great because you can look around for the hour and half before you get any form of help. Every time I've gone in I've had to hound the workers to get help and then I still have to wait while the workers chat. This is a great store! Great customer service even when busy. Employee took time to explain to my son and I about a snake that we are interested in. He was able to hold the snake for about 20 minutes while she answered any questions we had. She was very patient even when other customers crowded around asking about different things. We have 3 snakes and a lot of pet stores don't take care of their reptiles. But, Miles of Exotics reptiles were very healthy and well taken care of. About 3 weeks ago, my family and I went to check out this store. It looked promising, with hedgehog food and snacks available. We noticed that they had a sign that stated they do small animal nail trims and boarding. We asked about it, told them we had a hedgie, and they said it was fine. Fast forward to today, when I take my hedgie in for a $10 nail trim. I was told by two people that they don't do that. This place has now lost our business on hedgie food, snacks, nail trims, and boarding. I didn't even ask today if they still would board him, as I was not happy. I enjoy shopping at this store for things for my cat and gecko. This is where we buy crickets for the gecko and they are never weak and they live for quite a while. I would definitely suggest buying items and bugs here. However, the prices for the animals are a little pricy. Here you can get a leopard spotted gecko for almost $60 whereas at petsmart they have them for $30. I chose to buy mine at petsmart and she is still alive and well. read more

I don't suggests buying plants or fish from here. I brought two plants home with me that I had purchased from one of their tanks, and promptly placed them in quarantine prior to placing them in my tank. I have a Betta tank that I plan on expanding into a larger planted tank. 3 days after my purchase I noticed hair thin red worms coming from the two plants, a Windflow Java Fern and an Anubis Nancon, and upon doing some research I quickly discovered they were Camallanus Worms or Nematodes which are parasites that drink the blood of fish and breed like rabbits. Once you get one, the entire tank will become infected. I luckily dodged a bullet with that one. I have yet to return the plants, however after calling this place the man over the phone was quick to dismiss me and claim they "don't have problems with Nematodes." I wasn't too happy about that. If anyone here loves their fish, especially if you have a large tank ecosystem please do not purchase plants or fish here and risk getting your tank infested. read more

I've been coming to Miles of Exotics for at least 15 years. They are THE place to go in KC for reptile pets. The owner, Mark, is extremely knowledgeable about reptiles and very helpful. Friendly staff who also know their business. The furry pets can be petted, picked up and held. This has got to make them some of the tamest critters you can get anywhere, plus it's great fun for the kids. I always hold some bunnies when I'm there. To the other reviewer complaining about bugs in the crickets, they are just potato bugs that hitch a ride with the potato put in for the crickets to eat. You can feed them to your reptiles too. It's like a free bonus. :-) read more
