It's a small white old looking building with a partial gravel lot, part paved. If you are looking for a nostalgic place to hold a reception with a great sized dance floor, a stage, plenty of room to have tables around the perimeter of the dancer floor... Check this place out! I thought the way they did the buffet was brilliant! The bar is down 5-6 step on a lower level. So while you are on the main level the crowd works its way down the stairs, to the buffet to get their food and grab a drink and then head up the other staircase on the other side of the room. Seamless flow and unless you are behind someone who just can't decide on the roast beer or chicken... there are no hold ups in line! I think this venue would also be great for parties in general! Whether its for line dancing, a Zumba event, or just to have a fun party with a band! The basement bar is full of old Anheuser-Busch memorabilia and the bartender gave us quite the history of its location and how many famous people have visited there. My guess because of its "nostalgia" look... it might not be for all... but my guess is, its not expensive to rent out. And if you aren't needing a modern location, why not help preserve a great looking and very well functioning building and community! I'd go back here... in fact I hear they have open west coast or swing dance lessons / nights! hmmmmm!

Couldn't get a beat even though there was no music on. But can you count one-and-two, three-and-four? This is not a stretch of the phrase rocket science in any sense of its meaning! I was so spent (and sweaty) after the one-hour lesson that I couldn't stay for the open dance. I was actually pissed (have to balance that with a pissy day) about the beginner dance lesson. We didn't rotate partners. YOU NEED TO DO THAT. If you get a slower partner for a while, you can persevere. If the teachers don't have you rotate, you're stuck for the entire hour. Nuff said.

Anyway, prior to deciding on this venue, we had toured other venues near CWE and what really sealed it for us was Phillip. We toured the venue with Phillip, he worked within our budget, treated us impeccably well, was very easy to coordinate the wedding day-of events, he was beyond attentive on our wedding day, and he made sure I was taken care of on our wedding day. As soon as he knew we were good to go (after cocktails) he let us go about our evening with the reception. We had both the ceremony and reception here. When I say that we did nothing on our wedding day, we did nothing! Phillip's team flipped the room from the ceremony to the reception in less than 30 minutes so that my wedding party can decorate. Our decorations were minimal because the venue is the statement. You actually do not need a lot of decorations (unless you want to, then you do you!) but we thought the venue was so gorgeous. I attached some photos for some inspiration and hopefully it inspires you to book The McPherson. Location: I am from Los Angeles so having my family come to STL and spending some time in CWE was a no brainer. The McPherson has a large parking lot for any guests coming with cars. We stayed at The Chase after our wedding so location was so convenient. Venue: Marvelous! There was a bridal room and even a groom's room! The bridal room was downstairs and reminded me of a salon! My niece-in-laws and bridal party had so much fun in the bridal room while we waited for guests to arrive. There is even a tv for you to see when guests arrive and where they are sitting. The back patio was so romantic. No decorations needed! Catering: The McPherson partners with Russo's catering. Food was a delight! I am not too picky however for some reason I do recall how food at a wedding was, that's just me. I don't care too much about grand flowers or a massive cake. To each their own! Russo's invited us to a tasting and holy gryffindor! It was so much fun. Very detailed, well organized, and we felt so special! Our catering contact scheduled an appointment with us closer to our wedding date to talk through details. Super easy to work with! Their team puts everything together and breaks everything down! Some of my family members are gluten free, some needed high chairs, and Russo's had a full plan for all our special needs! We went with passed appetizers right after the ceremony and they were a hit! We also went with assorted desserts, they were bite sized and we instead of a large cake we went with a token cake just to cut for photos. We also hand picked all five of our dessert options! Every time my husband and I reminisce about our wedding day, we cannot think of anything that went wrong and that is mostly due to this venue, the catering company, and you gotta have a top notch wedding party. And they have quite a large variety of whites, reds, and roses too. Cindy, one of the owners, is so very friendly and helpful. We love a kid play place!…read more This small indoor play place in south county is such a gem! It has plenty of adult seating that others lack so plan for a birthday celebration here. The best age range is 0-5 as there are infant sections, pretend play areas like kitchens and towers, and lots of toys in between. I think they rotate some items every 90 days while some items stay the same. There are yuck buckets all around the playroom in case of slobbering or "taste testing". The staff also cleans the floors and toys regularly to fight germs and keep toys looking their best. I will always recommend a reservation as spots fill up fast. A birthday party here is also worth it because of the space for seating and the ability for kids 0 -10 to be able to play and enjoy. This location is not as accessible because the entrance has a small shared parking lot, a step or large slope to enter, and the doors are all manual and all require a little maneuvering as there are pull handles, lower knobs, and hook handles.

To be honest, it is uncomfortable to write details about my experience; but to keep it short and to the point. Shannon just doesn't have what it takes to manage many moving parts. You can hire her to plan your kids birthday party, but by no means can she handle a wedding; and mine had under 150 guests. My other vendors had a hard time coordinating with her and appeared disgruntled towards her. understandably so.
