Been coming here for years and honestly have had a problem every single time. I should've left a long time ago but I mainly only go for yearly checkups, so I figured since I only go once a year I could deal with it. However I've been calling the office for the past 4 days now and no one answers the phone and the voice message box is full (of course) it's honestly really frustrating because I want to discuss things with Dr. Liu and making an appointment is already a challenge. Plus every time I see her she seems in rush and always stands by the door ready to leave the room. I'm definitely not a patient there just seems like a number to her. However, she has been very thorough in the past which I appreciate but considering the office and her quality of care is so low in my opinion you can find a more thorough doctor somewhere else. read more

My mother has been a patient here for many years. She has become visibly frustrated with how difficult it is to get someone on the phone, but has always defended busy people being busy. That's fair, but still shows little respect for their patients or time. I only became involved here because I overheard a call. Pro tip office ladies- if you want to talk to a patient like she's a very stupid child, make sure you aren't on speakerphone. When I asked who was speaking, she flipped like a switch. To me that's a sign she knew she was out of line. All downhill from there. Because she needed a form signed she tried repeatedly for a week to get through. I decided to just drive over. I was told when i asked about the phone that the policy was to keep the voicemail full and that 'Most of our patients know to call on Tues & Thurs between...' Been my primary care doc for 25 plus years. Always took very good care of me and her recommendations for other doctors are the ones she knows and trusts. It can get crowded at times and she can seem curt be she's very caring and smart. Always does tests to verify what's going on. Saved my wife's life and mine more than once. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Liu's for about 15 years. She is a good doctor - knowledgeable and thorough. Her bedside manner has improved over the years and she is always attentive and nice to me. She listens well and addresses all my concerns. When I was "checked out" on my own health for a while, she seemed frustrated with me, but never stopped providing quality care. Now I am more invested and a lot healthier. A medical approach has transitioned into a more patient-centered approach with me. I appreciate her flexibility and expertise. read more

All the poor reviews are really old. Ignore them. Whatever issues the office had in the past are just that, in the past. She's a good doctor. Please don't let old reviews impact your decision as to whether or not to see her. And by the way, most doctor offices don't like answering questions over the phone. I'd give her zero stars if it was possible. The reviews on Yelp are spot on. She doesn't care about her patients, she has a ego problem, paperwork fraudulent and staff are incompetent. I spent 3 years sending the same copy of a check as proof of payment where I paid my percentage in full the same day as the visit! It's been 6 years since I've seen her but I wanted to copy over my review just to help anyone and everyone stay clear of this Doctor she's the worst. Unprofessional and rude billed me and insurance for visit after not completing visit and storming out of exam room. Billed me and my insurance for services not provided. Usual wait = 1 hour plus before even taken back to the exam room; usual total doctor visit time 2 hours plus. I personally hate waiting in a waiting room for 1 to 2 hours with sick people for scheduled well visits. read more

My Wife had a 2nd Stroke and was admitted to NEM Hospital , when She was released the ER Doctor prescribed a few different Medications than She was previously taking. H‑E‑B Pharmacy needed an ok from Her Primary Care Dr. Liu to give us the Prescriptions but Dr. Liu refused until She saw My Wife a Week later . I had to pay 500$ with GoodRX discount so my Wife wouldn't die of another Stroke and Dr. Liu said it was My responsibility to figure it out. As I'm asking Dr. Liu's Staff what I should do they were rude to Me and acting like I was wasting their Time. They deserve less than a 1 rating. read more

I am new to the San Antonio area and was in search of an internist. I was able to get into see Dr. Liu. My experience was very positive with the front end help and also with Dr. Liu. I did notice that the current reviews are from several years ago and wanted to have my experience included. Back office girls were also professional. I received follow-up calls to make sure that I had lab and x-ray appts. scheduled. The front office could use more help and I did notice that office decor is very bland and outdated even though it is also a pediatric office. read more

If I could, I wouldn't give even one star. The absolute worst! She wouldn't provide orders for yearly checkups, and wouldn't give me a note indicating my medical condition to get the Covid vaccine. She's only there one day a week, by the way, and only in the morning. Needless to say, I changed doctors - after 2 requests were faxed to obtain MY records, I just got a call from her office telling me I have pay $50 to send MY records electronically to my new doctor. If you are looking for a doctor who's only concern is money than Dr Liu is perfect for you. The office is bland and decorated with promotional items. The children's toys must be at least 10-15 years old as they appear very aged with labels that are yellowed. This lack of concern for her clinic becomes very noticeable as you will typically have to wait at least an hour to be seen which will leave you with plenty of time to stare at your surroundings. Her personality is very cold and lacks any kind of compassion. You will only get a refill or prescription if you pay for an office visit. I once had to pay a copay and use vacation PTO to leave work only to be handed a paper prescription. And this was after I had already paid for two visits in the past four weeks. She uses absolutely no current technology and as of this review she doesn't even have a basic website. PA Cantrell is great and the only reason I kept giving the office 'second chances.' Unfortunately that wasn't enough to keep me as a patient. Now four years later I finally took the initiative to leave. There are too many great doctors in this area to waste your time and money here. read more

Horrible!! I've been going for 6 months now with no issues (other then 2 hour long usual wait) and have been referred to many doctors for my health issues. After finally going to 6 different specialists, one of them (Endocrinologist) said my TSH levels were normal even though they've risen from 2 months before. And since I'm at risk for miscarriages or birth defects (2 months prego) I voiced my concern to Dr. Liu. And this is what she said, "what you don't trust me?! You need to trust your doctors" I explained trust works both ways and my main concern is my baby. So instead of helping me get a 2nd opinion from another endocrinologist she started talking about how informed she was on the subject and said I need to find another general doctor and then Terminated my contract with them. This doctor has a HUGE EGO and definitely does not care about her patients!!!! Instead of listening to my concerns, she kept going on and on how I won't find another general doctor like her....Wow. Well this is great news for me because now I won't waste my time with a doctor whose not informed with current medical knowledge and standards. read more

I called to dispute a charge for a "no call no show" visit that the office stated they resolved months ago due to a mistake on their part. Months later I got a letter from collects in regards to the same appointment. When speaking to the staff to correct the mistake I was yelled at, hung up on, told the doctor wanted me to come in, pay a co-pay for a follow up even though I was asymptomatic and not requesting medical advice, and eventually told "THE DOCTOR DOES NOT CARE" when I asked to speak with or contact the doctor. The NP and Dr. Liu are nice although wait times are very long but the disrespect from the front office staff is the worst I have ever seen. read more

The staff is nice enough, but if you go to this clinic you will rarely see the Dr. Every time I've gone, I've waited over an hour and a half to see a PA for 10 minutes. She's not personable and when you finally talk to her, she acts like she doesn't know anything about you or your medical history. Last time I was there, three people were in the waiting room with me and she just walked out like her day was done. Said bye to all the staff and ignored all of us who thought we were there to see her. Her office is close to my house, which is nice and convenient.. But we are going to search for another provider. Healthcare is still a service, and she doesn't seem to see it that way. read more

My husband my son and myself have been with her for a few years. in these few years all she seems to care about is money!!!!!!!!! she does not care about her patients. i stopped even going to her instead i would take myself my son and my husband to er. Then...... here is the funny part, then when she found out we went to ER she would call us for a follow up so she could get her share....... so i finally decided to find a new DR and get this, she then tells me i have to pay 30.00 per person to get our medical records then today i get a bill in the mail ........ she now wants 50.00 a person for my medical records. i have even had other DRs tell me i need to find a good DR instead of her. If you care about your family find another DR because she doesnt care about your family its all about the money. oh and also i took my son to her with the flu, mind you this is the very last time i stepped foot in her office. anyways he had the flu, i took him to dr luis office and was told it had something to do with his scoliosis and wanted to send him back to a specialist, i laughed at them and told my son lets go to ER. we went er and sure enough he had the flu, then a week later she wants me to bring him in for a follow up, WHY she didnt even treat him right the first time. needless to say i found a good dr who doesnt need my medical records so i am sooooo glad she wont get another wasted dollar out of my family!! be smart and find a different DR, im glad i finally did. read more

I don't have any issues with Dr Liu so far or with NP Cantrell. Ms Cantrell is extremely nice, takes time with you and doesn't rush the appt. My issues are with the office in general and the office staff. It is not well kept, the office girls spend more time laughing, chatting and talking crap than they do working. On 2 of the 3 times I've been there, there have been profanity words spoken loud enough for all to hear and also patient conditions and names spoken in a much louder voice than should be used (privacy!) Constantly on their cell phones while working with charts and talking to other doctors on the phone. Makes me wonder if the charts and information are being taken care of correctly. Your front office is your first impression and this one leaves me wondering if I chose the right practice to trust my health concerns with. read more

This lady is awful. Spend way more time in waiting room than in the exam room. Just had a baby and used her as pediatrician. Brought my child in to have belly button examined for what looked like infection. She had the nerve to look at me all puzzled and asked if it looked like infection. I told her " Well, yeah. That is why I came in." Then she went on to say it did look like infection. That was the last time I went to her. Found another pediatrician, who's staff was very familiar with this doctor. They had nothing positive to say. Agree with other posts about this Dr.s staff. They sit back as if they will get fired if they show any kind of friendliness. read more

This is by far the worst doctor office I have to deal with. Do not waste your time becoming a patient here. Let me first start with the front desk. The girl who answers the phone speaks too fast and has no sincerity. The "office manager" chris is just as worse. He has no understanding of how to respond to people or what the meaning of customer service is. The wait just to see a doctor is unreal. Each time I go on my "appointment time" I am waiting for at least 30-40mins just to see the dr for a whooping 15mins. Smh. I have called and asked to have the dr. return my call at their convenience and was told the doctor does not return calls or speak to patients over the phone, but a staff member will call me to answer questions. So if i want to speak to the doctor then i would need to make another appointment!? This place does not care for their patients except those who are accustomed to this service. Do not waste your time here. I wilp be transferring records filing a formal complaint. read more

My only complaint is about the front desk staff. Not very friendly at all. Also continued to bill old insurance company for months, after being given copy of new insurance card SEVERAL times. Not impressed at all with front desk staff. The doctors are competent. Especially like the new doctor, Dr. Thayil, sounds like "Tile". Dr Liu is not interested her patients health at all. She only seems to care about money. We waited over 2 hours to be seen. The staff was apologetic and showed concern that we were upset and sick. When we were finally taken back she spent a whole 10 min with me. After I received my explanation from ins about charges I saw that she charged me over 400 for visit. It is ridiculous. I did see the Nurse Practitioner, Ms. Cantrell and the wait was the same but she is very caring and actually listened. I decided to see the other Doctor there, I believe his name was Thayil, and he was awesome. His hours were not great but he is very caring and compassionate. I was in and out in about 1 hr when I saw him. I decided to stay with him when he left the Toepperwein med clinic in January. When my records were requested by Dr. Thayils office Dr Liu refused to send them. So I went to her office myself and she wanted $50 to copy the first 50 pages and then 25 cents per page after that. She has no ethics and has no concern for anything but making a dollar. I recommend not to go there. read more
