This is my first time trying to find a day care and I'm already feeling sad that I have to even to do this and go back to work. I then received a text stating that they've been trying to get in contact with me but I never received any missed calls from them. I am more needing a general price so I can see if it's even affordable. This what they told me. Also on this yelp page they advertise you can get a price quote, but they don't give you one. They just want you to come in for a tour this is false advertisement. Don't say you're gonna give someone a price quote and then turn around and say you don't discuss price online LOL being a parent your time is very limited as it is and you telling me you want to give me a tour without telling me a general price is wasting more of my time

The general staff members (site coordinators and office staff members) know all the children's names and greet them and dismiss them. One time my brother in law came with me for pickup and he was holding my child's hand, he was stopped because the staff did not recognize him and I came and said I was here with them. The staff is very attentive. They built such a great phonics foundation for my child that they were reading on a first grade level in kindergarten. I live on the other side of the island but I am so satisfied with this school, I am sending my second child there was well. My second child was always greeted by the staff during drop off and pick up. I was nervous about my second one starting 3k but my second child is so comfortable there, I am definitely returning. Love this school so much! Please note if you are unhappy with the school or any school, you have the power to pull your child out. You are the parent/guardian of your child, they are still too young to speak up for themselves. You are their voice.

It was a school year of just stress and worry. My child isn't fully potty trained as of yet and needs pull ups changed, they would change her but one day she came home with a latex glove stuck in her pants leg. I was fuming because that was a choking hazard if she had found it before I did. They were apologetic but said my kid was wiggly during changing . A s**t excuse to turn around and blame a toddler. It's hard to say who actually changed her that time because there are a lot of different Paras that rotate between classes but it's a reflection of the whole school for me. Early this spring my child was out sick .As a precaution I had her at the pediatrician for a viral screen for COVID and RSV and a got a letter that she was negative and cleared to return to school on a specific date. When she returned on that date the nurse called saying she has a runny nose and wanted to know why she was out sick and if she had a seen a Dr. I said there was note in her backpack from her MD. He hadn't even seen it and said the teachers didn't even tell him about it. So in theory I could have returned her to school without any documentation that she was cleared since no one was looking or reporting it to the medical room. She could have returned with any number of viruses. When I asked the staff about it they blamed the nurse and the nurse blamed the teachers, just passing the responsibility off each other. When they would call to ask about her absence they would ask me to get a note but never asked me before she entered the school in the morning . No wonder my child was sick every other week . The mornings were stressful, the staff rushes the kids into the school, when they told me they line up at a certain time it actually meant they went upstairs at the time ,not a minute later, there were a few times when a para took my child's hand and whisked her away without a chance for me to even say goodbye to her, very strange. This occurred even in mild weather so it wasn't just to avoid exposing the children to freezing weather. Once ( while 9 months pregnant ) I was walking towards the gate with her and a staff member yelled out with an attitude - my child's name- "we're waiting for you!" . It was just rude and mean to assume my child would understand and to also expect me to run across the lot with her while super pregnant. It's a shame , avoid avoid avoid .

Our first stayed through pre-k, the second stopped only because of the free local 3k, and our third is still happily enrolled. We've trusted this school for over 5 years with our 3 children, and have looked forward to sending each of our kids here. The admins are responsive, the teachers, for the most part, seem to love children and their jobs (we've had one over the years that wasn't great, but she is gone now). Many of the current teachers are the same as when my son started over 5 years ago. There is always strong communication throughout the day, they regularly post eating/sleeping/potty events as well as photos and videos so we can always see how our kids are doing. They eat healthy food and are given a wide variety of fun activities. As infants they help them learn to sit, walk, fine motor skills, even potty train them. As they grow older there is an academic schedule to help them learn their letters, counting, colors, etc. One of my sons went through a hitting phase, and the admins and his teachers sat with us to give us tools to help him, and made sure he wasn't endangering others in the class. When I bring my two older kids in to pick up the youngest, all the teachers remember them and there's always plenty of smiles and hugs. They do follow the DOE schedule, so are closed more often than I'd like (yeah, its annoying), but its worth it for the quality of care at a reasonable cost. As other reviewers have noted, Covid was not easy, especially on daycares. Yes, dropoff/pickup was inconvenient, yes it was hard to plan around cases shutting down classrooms, and yes it took a hit on morale and staff turnover, BUT these are all a direct result of them taking precaution and carefully following safety guidelines. I'm happy to say that none of my children got covid while at BKA, and I thank their thoroughness for this (these were pre-vaccine days, it was scary!). For the most part, all is back to normal now. I get that there's always an exception and some reviewers have had bad experiences, but we absolutely adore BKA, and most the parents we chat with do as well. It is a loving, caring, clean daycare (with outdoor space!) that we couldn't recommend more.

His very 1st day my son was sent home in a soggy diaper, wet clothes, and shoes on the wrong feet. I informed the school of various triggers, and habits. This was completely ignored and he would come home completely distressed everyday. My son also has a texture issue so he is very selective with foods. The school had me supply his food/milk/snacks/diapers/wipes ect. and pay over $300 weekly. The entire time my son was there they allowed him to do whatever he wanted. He rarely engaged in class routine and wasnt encouraged to do so either. There was nobody there knowledgeable about his diagnosis thus making it impossible for anyone to work with him. I have since pulled my son out of school and have been home schooling him. In the 5months since we started my son says words can identify numbers and some colors and has been open to other foods.
