When I parked in front of the store, I noticed a wooden picnic bench with Hespeler colourfully painted on it. I am always learning something new when I visit. I walked into the store. It has a single set of automatic doors to go in and out of the supermarket. I was here to get some baby spinach. I was pleased to see that a kale, chard, and spinach mix was 50% off. It was perfect for my quiche and green smoothies that I was planning on making. The produce section is amazing. Everything looked so fresh and nicely maintained. Naturally, when I'm at a cool grocery store, I get more stuff than I should. I ended up getting sugar-free raspberry lemonade kombucha. I have been told that it generally is low in sugar, but this one had no sugar in it. I have consumed it and it was delightful. There is an alternative pasta aisle. I found Daiya mac and cheese, and chickpea spaghetti. It also took me a long time to tear myself out of the chocolate aisle. The selection is mighty impressive. I also got an economy pack of Command 3M hooks. These days, I have been into putting them up for various things. As of late, I now have hooks for my face masks. The cashier that I had was helpful and nice. She asked if I needed a bag. I was fine carrying my few items in my arms. I paid with a credit card. Tap and done! There was another staff member helping a man with a question about sauces. I was trying to figure out where she was moving. She gave me an arm gesture that I didn't appreciate, as if I didn't know how to get past her. Um, maybe if you both were planted smack in the middle of the walkway, and were both blocking everyone from leaving the store, I would be able to figure out how to get past both of you. It was my only not-so-happy moment, which put a damper on my experience here. Otherwise, it's a cool supermarket with items that I like. (152)

I used to work at Yonge and Eglinton. I would often walk over to Mount Pleasant and get my Sobeys fix. I got laid off at the job over six years ago. So, it is safe to say that I have not stepped foot in a Sobeys since then. Markham continues to be void of the chain and I don't work near one. My good friend and I were in the Kitchener-Waterloo area recently. For some reason, whenever her boyfriend is tasked with getting veggie sausage links for their usual Sunday breakfast and I am hanging out with her the day before, he can't find any. I joked and told her to text him back, saying again?! I am my usual, resourceful self. I did a search and this Sobeys came up. We headed over there. It felt like coming home. My friend not only got her beloved veggie sausage links, but vegan mayo. OMG! Where have I been? I had no idea that Hellmann's makes vegan mayo these days. This mind-blowing revelation alone is why I love and miss Sobeys. You can get Air Miles rewards here. My friend doesn't collect them, so I got them. Fair deal! My friend and I drove away, and we talked about dipping fries in mayo. I told her to try basil with the mayo. That tip blew her mind. Sobeys always inspires me to try new items and experiment. This store made all these food feelings come back. The store is large and bright. We found everything that we wanted and more. The man cashing my friend out was friendly and kind. (86)
