Getting ready to board.
Danielle C.

What a great Mother's Day train ride a great deal at but one get one free otherwise it may have been a tad overpriced. We arrived early and browsed through the minuscule gift shop and museum picked up our will call tickets and sat in the car to wait for the train to begin staff was very friendly from the moment we walked into the building till the last step we took off the train. Buying and picking up the tickets was very easy and hassle free. We took a few pictures before we boarded and on the train itself. We walked up and down the different cars and it was clear what separated the different class of riders back in this locomotives glory days. They also offered a few snack items and drinks all for the price of $1. The whistle blows and you're off at a turtles pace to Quincy where you'll stop for 15 or so minutes. The conductor walks through each car asking for train tickets and puts a notch in yours before he says it again. It was classic and made the experience that more nostalgic. You're allowed to get out and walk through the park letting off some "steam" of energy yourself in Quincy before boarding again. Once all boarded the train is off again back to the train depot. The entire trip lasted about 11/2 hours. During the ride you are allowed to walk through to different cars. They do have a bathroom that is exactly as the one you'd find in a motorhome. I wasn't sure if I was camping or on the rail line. It was cold and dirty and if you don't have to go I recommend not! It was also cold in the cars. But it was cold outside too. There are propane heaters but the one in our cart didn't heat well. Other cabins were warmer but it's busy so hard to find a seat. I'd recommend someone going to at least do it once if you're in the area. My daughter got bored after awhile but with lots of kids on the train she found playmates quickly.

Had a Great Time!! Wish the ride was longer. Will definitely do this again. All the employees were extremely helpful and courteous.

A fun trip riding the rails on a steam engine train. You can even be an engineer for the day or enjoy one of the special dinner trains.

When you're in a bind and need a ride, the star ratings and reviews don't matter. That's just the…read moretype of situation my wife and I found ourselves in when we were trying to arrange a ride and our roadside assistance company booked us a ride with Louie's. It was a tough situation: the rental car company was going through a third party to arrange our ride back to Detroit. Logistics were wonky, which sometimes is how things are. To their credit, I think Louie's did their best in this situation, but this should not be interpreted as encouraging in any way. Louie's took additional payment over the phone and then were unable to confirm it on their side. They then tried to force my wife and I out of the car at a rest stop, insisting they were "losing money" while sitting there trying to sort the situation out. They threatened to take us to the police, which we graciously accepted (leave us in a public place in a town instead of the side of the highway? Yes please!). They took at least $150 for a half hour ride. Make sure to pay only upon delivery of expected services. TL;DR: I used to think that the best places to find someone to charge you an absurd sum for a half hour ride and then threaten to strand you in a remote location would be New York City, Mogadishu, or similar. Here's a wake up call to anyone sheltered by competence: one need look no further than Louie's Taxi Service in Coldwater, Michigan to find this malicious attitude and corruption.
