We camped at Way Back campground llc in Michigan for three seasons, initially building strong…read morefriendships with the owners and their grandchildren. Our kids would eagerly await our weekly arrivals during the summers, often chatting and playing video games during the off-season. The campground initially offered family-friendly activities like hayrides and crafts.. these dwindled to events that included only our children and the owners' grandchildren, often overshadowed by drunken behavior unsuitable for kids. By the second season, that sense of community soured when the owners' friends/family began uninvited weekend parties on our campsite. Groups would show up, using our firewood and partying late into the night while our kids struggled to sleep, often leaving only after we became assertive and telling them to leave so we could go to bed. This disregard for our family's needs, compounded by other unsettling issues made it clearly evident that Way Back is not a family friendly campground. Our campsite being littered with debris from a previous burned, condemned camper on our lot, promises of cleanup that went unfulfilled for 3 seasons. Obscene drunken adult behaviors in front of children that went unaddressed, only created a growing sense of disappointment. We also faced safety concerns, such as homeless individuals using drugs and living in the campgrounds. Convicted sexual offenders and known drug addicts in the park. Hostile fighting and commotion usually provoked by and instigated by the owners. A lingering presence of inappropriate adults around children at the park. Despite our initial rapport and giving the owners multiple chances to make improvements, issues only escalated, leading us to strongly advise against this campground.

We could not immediately get in touch with the owner of the rental nor his caretaker, but Narrows Pontoon and Cottage rentals not only answered our call, they dispatched Jim and Jack immediately to our rescue! They towed us in to our dock perfectly, and would not take any money for the service, not even a cash tip. They were timely, professional, and saved our Anniversary! We will forever be grateful and will always make sure to send business to the Narrows when we visit the North Chain of Lakes again. Thank you, Jim and Jack!

HATEFUL EMPLOYEES…read more Pulled in on a Friday afternoon, was given a map with some markings on it on where we were allowed to put our camper, we were old to pick a spot. Saturday rolled around and the campground employee came up on her golf cart told me to chain up my inactive 13 year old dog, as we should no arguments there but then she added that we were in the wrong spot. I apologized politely and said we had no idea. The map was confusing and I was told I should have called the office then. I'm usually the bigger person so I walked away and said we will move within 10 min. This woman was elderly and obviously a very unhappy person as her communication was short and bitchy with looks that could kill. Poor thing, anyway to work in serving the public I recommend to the campground owner that he hire someone with some class who will properly communicate with your renters or assist them by using the golf cart to escort them to the campsite location instead of drawing some lines on a map, or even telling us which side of the road we should park it on with respect. I'm sorry but nice goes a lot farther and we will not be back. She woke up and chose hate!
