That's just the…read moretype of situation my wife and I found ourselves in when we were trying to arrange a ride and our roadside assistance company booked us a ride with Louie's. It was a tough situation: the rental car company was going through a third party to arrange our ride back to Detroit. Logistics were wonky, which sometimes is how things are. To their credit, I think Louie's did their best in this situation, but this should not be interpreted as encouraging in any way. Louie's took additional payment over the phone and then were unable to confirm it on their side. They then tried to force my wife and I out of the car at a rest stop, insisting they were "losing money" while sitting there trying to sort the situation out. They threatened to take us to the police, which we graciously accepted (leave us in a public place in a town instead of the side of the highway? Yes please!). They took at least $150 for a half hour ride. Make sure to pay only upon delivery of expected services. TL;DR: I used to think that the best places to find someone to charge you an absurd sum for a half hour ride and then threaten to strand you in a remote location would be New York City, Mogadishu, or similar. Here's a wake up call to anyone sheltered by competence: one need look no further than Louie's Taxi Service in Coldwater, Michigan to find this malicious attitude and corruption.
