I needed a quick place for lunch in Albion. After seeing a lot of fast food choices, I discovered the Little Red Lunch Box closeby. This is a home-cooking breakfast and burgers diner dive! It is small with the only seating available is a counter and in the other room, you can see the owner, Sue, cooking as fast as she can! She stayed superbusy with dining and several carry-out orders on a Saturday. This was a memorable place to dine for me for several reasons. 1. Her grandchild which was about 8 years old took my order after I had sat there for about 5 minutes. Why? Because it seems like Sue is the only cook and she keeps her grandkids to help. There was a teenager that was helping her but he was pretty busy too. 2. Her younger grandchild kept getting in the way of the small lane between the counter and kitchen which led to many getting chewed out moments for the youngster. 3. I loved the way Sue talked! She was sassy and had a strong accent. She also took real good care of me! I told her the ketchup tasted kind of bad and she came and wiped it right off my plate! Haha She also told me she loved the way I talked (Alabama accent)! 4. People sitting around the counter started talking to me about Alabama football in Michigan, which led to a debate about the current status of college football during COVID. 5. The burger was an excellent homestyle burger. I think it was called the wildcat and had fried onion rings with BBQ sauce and cheese. I had potato wedges, which was a baked potato sliced into logs and lightly fried. If you are in the Albion area and have a hankering for breakfast or a home-style burger, you need to stop in and see Sue! read more

Abysmal service. Waitstaff stands in back and talks amongst themselves. No bathroom we could see. Very grimey. Don't know how they pass inspection. Can of paint stored out in dining room. Chicken sandwich cooked to death. If you order carry out it is 50 cents extra per meal. Wow. Will never return. read more

Enjoyed lunch here on a soggy day working near Albion. A small diner that seats about fifteen where one can grab a ten dollar city burger for half the price. Stopped in for a quick lunch today and chose the olive burger which is easily the best I've ever had. I enjoyed chatting with the staff and the quaint lunch-counter time warp. Will be back and most definitely be trying a dessert. read more

I'm a student at Albion College, so I've naturally passed by the Little Red Lunchbox a few times. Finally, one day near the end of my first year at college, a couple friends and I decided to go there for lunch. Wow. The burgers are juicy without being greasy, and the chili... And if you have room for dessert, there's usually a homemade cake of the day that you should try. My friends and I split a piece, and oh man, it was so good. The service is excellent, and we immediately felt at home. I've been there a couple times since then, and I've never been disappointed. read more

So me and a couple of work colleagues came out here to work from Grand Rapids Michigan. We needed to go to brembo in Homer to build some netting on the existing rack that we had built on a previous date and we found ourselves without a lift. So our boss ordered a rental lift so we had some time to kill while we were waiting. We couldn't find any restaurants in Homer so we went over to the little red lunch box. The establishment was a mom and pop kind of restaurant so you know the food is going to be very home like. And that is exactly what I got. Before I got a chance to order my food I was greeted by the restaurant owner and the friendly costumers. One of the people there even gave me the daily paper to read. I read about the earthquake that happened in Afghanistan. It was a 7.5. That's a pretty powerful earthquake. After reading that I placed my order. I got a farmers omelet. I requested that there don't be any mushrooms or green peppers. I'm not a huge fan of raw peppers and I have never been able to get into mushrooms. I try but I'm not a big fan of the texture. After about 5-10 minutes my order came back. Not knowing the internal temperature of said omelet I immediately took a bite it was a little hot but very good. After letting the omelet cool down for a little bit I kept eating it. The portion sizes are very big here, and at the top of their menu it says "order what you want, eat what you get" so I knew what had to be done. It took me about 13 and a half minutes to finish the omelet and my wheat toast. My taste buds imploded from the power of the flavor combinations inside of the light fluffy eggs around all of the meat and cheese and onions. The taste was almost too much to handle. While we were getting ready to pay our bills the store owner talked to us about her efforts in trying to gain popularity on Facebook. I recommend all of you look up "the little red lunch box" on Facebook and click that "follow" button. I burnt my mouth on the first bite I took and got a blister on the roof of my mouth. And I don't really like wheat toast. 4 stars. read more
