Service and food can not be beat. It blows my mind I can order and receive my food from the establishment faster that I can order and receive food from most fast food places in the area not too mention the prices are great and their "special of the day" are fantastic and affordable. Thus, we were hesitant...but hungry with little expectations. Upon entry, we were pleasantly surprised to hear Mexican music and Spanish speakers in the back. I had hope! Although the salsa was bland (& I avoid spicy), we shared the taco plate and a nachos. We were not disappointed. However, I recommend skipping the mojito entirely- I had to send it back. And yes, i know mojito is a cuban drink. They knew we weren't from town, lol- so we got to talking and learned they had roots from Mexico, then grew up not terribly far from me in Ca. He admitted they've had to adjust the way they make some items due to the mid-west clientele they have who aren't used to anything remotely authentic.

First things first. This is a dive bar. If you like that sort of thing, this may be your jam…read more However, it isn't really even a bar, as their liquor license is revoked. So it's currently a dive diner. The food was average at best. One thing they do have is a salad bar. It was sort of fresh, but the items on the salad bar were limited. If you like creating your own salad with your meal and don't mind a non-alcoholic beverage to drink, this place isn't terrible. The service was just so-so. Doesn't anyone clear plates from the table anymore? The inside is worn and outdated. At first, google reviews had me interested, but I wouldn't go there again. Not just because the liquor license is revoked, but that the place was average at best.

Pros: Cant beat the location and price....it was free since I was staying at the hotel. Staff was friendly and regularly checked up on us to refill coffees. Cons: Seems like the staff had a hard time keeping up with the food in the buffet area. 2 out of the 3 times I went up, the trays were half empty. I had limited time so not having food readily available was unfortunate.

Had she not mentioned the restaurant, I probably wouldn't have tried it or even found it! I think I would have been better off had I not found it. I ordered a BLT. There was a good amount of B to go along with the L&T on that sandwich. But it was average tasting at best. Very greasy and salty. It was served with salty fries. It didn't take me long to finish my beer. The fries were shoestring, and there were quite a bit of em. If you're on a shoestring budget, you could probably get away with sharing the sandwich with someone. I couldn't finish mine. I'm not really sure if it was because it was a lot of food, or if it was the salt saturation. Either way, I didn't ask for a box. They have steak and burgers, too. I saw some of those making their way to tables, and the folks seemed to be enjoying them. So you could probably give it a try. Quick Tip: I saw a sign stating that if you pay with cash, they'll give you a 10% discount. I tried using cash AND show my room key to get a combined 20% off. That didn't fly with my server. I only got the 10% off. Who knows if it was the cash or room. I was hoping that the server would ask which room I was in. Just kidding, NMT. It's a good thing I had a couple of beers in my room. I'm still dry from that darn salt!

It's not much to look at when you pull up, a small building between a gas station and hotel. Parking lot was mostly empty and most tables were empty when we arrived. Menu had a wide range of food options - diner feel. We ordered the pancakes and egg, 2 eggs, has brown and toast and Denver omelet special. Breakfast arrived quickly in about 8-10 minutes and was hot! Food was diner style perfect - affordable and plentiful. Eggs were delicious, and cooked to order. Lots of hash browns that were golden and crispy. There were three huge pancakes on my son's plate - he only got through one. Our meal for three people was $29! Can't beat it.

I am trying to eat better maybe so went with the gyro. I was able to get to Bugsy's a little after 6pm which is key since they close a7pm. Only person in the place was Bugsy. Took my order and then sent me to go grab a seat. Since the place was empty that was easy. In about 10-15 minutes a very hot huge gyro and plate of fries shows up. Wow. I ate all the gyro but barely made a dent in the fries. The taziki (misspelled I know) sauce was delicious. The gyro was full of meat cooked so fine. Now the decor? Wow this place is retro. Definitely a Chicago fan also. Lots of memorabilia and stuff on the wall. The place is bright also. Bugsy is old school so not a chatter but efficient and effective. His restaurant is just like him. Old school perfection. No bull just dogs and gyros and home cut fries. An awesome trip back to the past. Short on glitz but huge on taste which is what counts.
