So, let's get the negative out of the way first. I think it was a bit overpriced, the staff left me sitting for nearly 20 minutes before coming to take my order, they left the front door open despite the fact it was only 38°F and raining, so I was chilled to the bone by the time my food came. But ohmygosh, that was the absolute best Croque Monsuire/grilled ham and cheese/Crock Monster I have ever eaten. Seriously worthy of the pickiest of eaters. My tea was piping hot, and my salad perfectly dressed. My only regret is that I did not have room for desert. If I'm ever back in London, I'm totally going back!

A break and also to moan about other people of course. We wandered up Lower Marsh (love this street by the way, some really cool new places are springing up down there since Scooter Caffe became so popular) and found this place; well, with an offer of soup and toastie for £6 how could we not be enticed! Sparse interior decoration but in a cool, Shoreditch way. The tables and counters are MDF, the light bulbs are those spiral coil design ones that you see in places like All Saints and the lady behind the counter had the most amazing hair - dreadlocks up in buns with random bits of red running through it. So trendy I felt embarrassed wandering in there in a suit! Only 4 kinds of toastie and 1 kind of soup (not huge choice) were written on a roll of brown packaging paper roll on the wall - cool touch, you can just rip it off and re-write the menu if something new comes in! I went for pea soup with toasted pine nuts and crouton (yes please I'll have another cup of that!) and a turkey, cranberry and brie toastie, to get into the Xmas vibe! £6, ready for us in 2 minutes or crusty bread with lots of brie (just how I like it), it was perfect lunch food for groups in a hurry. Everything was made fresh and when they ran out it got crossed off the menu - it seemed more exclusive somehow! Well it made a fan out of me :)

The inside is unique as we discovered the outdoor rooftop eating area after several stairways and tight turns. The restaurant area is surprisingly large. We ate in the upstairs outdoor area which was charming. For my order, I tried to order the scone meal but they were out of them so I got the bacon and egg sandwich on a brioche bun as a backup. It came with two hash brown triangles and was fresh and filling and very yummy. My dining companions had the Veg Cockney which is a full vegetarian breakfast and another had the Eggs Scotland (Eggs Benedict with Scottish smoked salmon). I tried a bit of each and enjoyed them. The Clarence Court Leghorn Eggs they use have a brilliant orange-ish yellow to the yolk and I swear they taste better than the ones in the States. This is cute place with great homemade food that hits the spot!

I literally stumbled upon this place a few minutes ago, it's a tiny non hipster coffee shop in Farringdon and upon going inside saw the most beautiful display of wraps, cakes and pastries. I'm a massive fan of anything including salmon and avocado, so the decision to hold off on eating, took a back seat! I was tempted by the offer of mixing and matching my wraps and almost went for the beautiful looking halloumi wrap, but the salmon was calling me.. So that's one for next time! Now to the wraps.. Oh my word!! They were crammed full of salmon, avocado, rocket and a generous portion of cream cheese!! So damn good!! Coffee wise it's damn good! I got a bonsoy flat white and not only does it taste great, a lot of effort was put into some nice coffee art on top! (I know this isn't easy with soya milk and some people neglect this - so extra stars for this! Will definitely be back, next time I'm around and spreading the word...
