It was my first time here, and the customer service was excellent. Everyone was very nice,…read moreattentive, and made us feel welcome. The restaurant was also very clean, and I really liked the theme, along with the tables and chairs. Unfortunately, the food missed the mark. I ordered the T-Bone Steak Jalisco Style, and my brother ordered the Asada Taco Salad. He mentioned that the meat had a strange flavor and an odd texture. The beans that came with my steak also had a very unusual taste that I didn't enjoy. We ordered a Coke, a Dr Pepper, and two waters. The water was honestly the worst part of the meal. It had a rancid taste, and it was so unpleasant that I almost threw up after taking a sip. While the service and atmosphere were great, the food and water were disappointing, so unfortunately I don't think I'd return.

La Espuela has held-up very well. See my fav's on prior reviews…read more Same owners & operation have a slightly more upscale place, "El Corazon", in the center of our City, just across Main Hwy from our historic Church. Espuela has slightly better prices; Corazon has a bit more comfortable seating. About a draw. At Corazon, parking lot is in rear. Also they now have SOME seasonal local seafood like boiled crawfish. Louisiana has law making restaurants post whether their seafoods are from Louisiana, or "imported". This somehow misses the customer's point; we are fine with seafoods from other states', as their products are from our own Gulf of American/Mexico, just not from the far east. The ceviche de camarrones here is not up to either Yucatan/Quintana Roo/Tamaulipas standards, nor our local quality. Other dishes we've tried are good to very good. We like & frequent both of these restaurants.

The salsa itself has just the right proportion of fresh chopped cilantro to finely diced onion and tomato. Meals come served on real Fiestaware plates, hot from the oven. When sitting on the Los Amigos heavy hand-carved wood chairs in front of the full colorful plates, it feels a bit like home. Service is friendly, prompt, and happy to help with special needs. Many meals come as advertised with slices of avocado or fresh fruit. The fish and shellfish are fine in quality. I especially recommend the shrimp dishes including the camarones cocktail, which is a fun and filling shrimp cocktail served in a red gaspacho with sliced avocado and crackers. It's a great light lunch.

The exterior and interior of the establishment show serious dedication to theme. I really have to admire the mature Agave plants out front, they give it street appeal. There's plenty of parking, and that's a good thing as there is always a good crowd there enjoying some tasty cuisine. Lunch is the most amazing meal in my opinion, nearly every dish on the lunch menu was $7.99. That's an incredible value these days, especially considering the portion sizes are huge. My burrito was served on a platter! The flavors are top notch, what you would expect for much more. Dinner is a more leisurely affair, with a broader menu selection. There's some great dishes to be found there. Service is always attentive and prompt. So, if you're in Eunice, and you want something other than Cajun Food, Hacienda Real is a solid option!
